  1. Most of us deer hunters wouldn't consider shooting in a subdivision. We hate to see this type of thing happen. But like everything else there will be a few bad apples in the bunch. It is also true that some people move to rural or semi rural areas and think the rules are the same as in town. A freind of mine owns a farm,98 acres,in the city limits of Alexandria KY. This farm has been in his family for over 100 years. One side of his farm is bordered by a new subdivision. He has a large family and they get together each year to hunt deer and turkeys. Every time one of these people see a man hunting they call the police. They sware every time that the hunter was pointing his gun at there house and this is a lie and the police know it. The police know and I know these hunters and we know better. The police tell them they must show up to satisfy the caller. If someone is acting in a dangerous manner and truly is pointing a gun at a house for some unknown reason they should have their hunting rights taken away. But if they are not breaking any laws then maybe the city folks should stay in the big city and leave the country for those who understand it. IMHO.
  2. Back then I used a single shot 20 ga. and always packed a .357 just in case we ran into some deliverance types. :scared:
  3. Bluegrass music on CH54 Show called Jubillee Good stuff.
  4. All the songs their playing on PBS ch. 54 on a show called Jubilee. Fine bluegrass.:dancingpa
  5. Brang it on! My 4x4 truck eats snow for breakfast. My wifes Civic, not so much! She is messing her pants right now!
  6. Sounds about right. I think that truck was pretty new. I remember feeling violated and very stupid when I met that snow bank. I have a 4wd Z71 now and wouldn't even consider such foolishness. I was 25 and sad to say probably half drunk. I don't drink nowadays. Live and learn.
  7. Stuffed cabage, smashed taters, corn and cornbread. Its so good it makes you want to smack yo mama!
  8. Some place where it would be impossible for a socialist community organizer with radical communist friends to be elected to president.
  9. Went bird hunting in Lewis Co. years ago the day the Bengals played the Chargers in a playoff game in Cincy. It was 20 degrees below zero and we were ignorant. Rt.8 was a solid sheet of ice the whole way. I drove my 1981 2wd Ford. It was like ice skating in a pickup truck for 3.5 hours. Made it all the way there only to slam into a snow bank on a logging road. The truck was still road worthy so we started Grouse hunting without dogs. One of my legs went through the ice in the creek, I pulled it out in a split second. It was so cold that the water turned to ice before it could soak into my boot or pants. I broke off the ice and I was dry as a bone. We made it back to Ft. Thomas in one piece except that piece of bumper I left on that logging road. We didn't get any birds either!
  10. Doctor said lose weight or huge problems will happen. Lost 50lbs. and now my sugar is under control and my meds. were cut in half. 42" waist to a 34". 2x shirt to med. I feel like a kid again. The only drawback was spending around $700.00 on new clothes, but it was worth it for sure. I now weigh the same as when I was in 6th grade!
  11. Only on the newer models. Savage went to the accutrigger to eliminate the trigger pull problem. The gunsmith was Bucky Combs 859-824-3250 owner of The Gunsmiths Shop in Williamstown KY. He told me about the Remington trigger after I told him about my bad experience with the Ruger 77. Don't take my word for it, talk to the gunsmith.
  12. The biggest hoax in world history. Shouldn't people on the east coast be drowning by now? How about the Polar Bears? A guy that lives with them and studies them for a living says they are in very good shape and more bears than ever. But the Enviro Whackoos claim the bears are in great danger. Someone is being less than truthful. Our government knows global warming is a lie. They are using this Go Green bull to line their own pockets.:madman:
  13. If it was impossible for a felon or guy with a violent past to play college ball we would eliminate 90% of those thugs. IMO.
  14. I shoot left handed and have owned 4 lefty bolt actions,One was the Savage. I was told it was the best and most accurate rifle for the money and the price was cheap. Bought one for myself because at the time only Savage and Ruger offered lefties. Bought one for my son for his first deer rifle. Accuracy was poor. Overall quaility was second rate.Quickly sold both. Bought a Ruger 77,it had the worst trigger I have ever used and I couldn't sell it fast enough. I will never buy a Ruger product again. New Remington rifles also have gone to garbage 8 to 12 lb triggers. These triggers make accurate shooting impossible. Browning makes the best left handed bolt actions on the market. After shooting mine both of my hunting buddies bought one. The accuracy is supreme on all 3 rifles.IMO spend the extra money and be happy. The price isn't much more than the Rem. or Ruger for a much higher quality rifle.
  15. Years ago a friend of mine bought a 300 Win. mag.. after 3 to 4 shots I had enough. He talked his fashion model quaility girlfriend into shooting it. She got a half moon shaped cut and scar just above her eye. This was why I settled for the 270 cal.,I can shoot it all day.
  16. Mayfield is very good. Had two disc replacements,C6 and C7 with lots of nerve damage. Ask for human cadaver tissue for replacement. It takes longer to heal but is better than using metal parts. Go to a nero. not an ortho. I got this info. from medical freind of mine and everything worked out well. An MRI is a must. Good Luck!
  17. Nice firearms! How is the recoil from you 300WSM?
  18. Short and simple. Good job jb! :thumb:
  19. I highly recommend the A Bolt. Not just because I own one but because 2 of my hunting buddies also have them. These are out of the box competition quality rifles. You owe it to yourself to work the smooth, 60 degree bolt before you buy anything else. I own the BOSS compensator left hand model. The BOSS is ported to reduce recoil by 30 %. The compensator allows you to fine tune your barrel to fire different brands of ammo without losing your point of aim. IMO don't buy a Ruger 77. I owned a Ruger 77 and couldn't sell it fast enough. The trigger pull is the worst I've ever seen and was built so that it couldn't be adjusted or replaced by an aftermarket trigger. I ordered the Ruger because I shoot left handed and it was a special order so I didn't know about the trigger till it was to late. My gunsmith told me that remington is doing the same because of fear of lawsuits over accidental discharge. Our Brownings came with excellent smooth crisp triggers set at 4 lbs from the factory and I had mine slicked up by a gun smith who adjusted it to 3.5lbs. I have fired many rifles in my day but I may request this one be buried with me. One shot one kill, long range killing machine. good luck!
