  1. I guess Brannen of Newcath should be considered hands down too then since they beat Conner, Highlands, and Covcath....right? Schumate is an up and coming coach here in nky but not of the same caliber as a Henley, Listerman, Hicks, or Faust.
  2. I'd really like to see both teams play each other every year. I think it'd be a nice 9th/10th rivalry game.
  3. Didn't the Martin kid also transfer out of Hazard?
  4. I just noticed on the KHSAA website that Holmes and Mason Co will meet in this on January 2nd at 8 pm. Anyone know if there are any other teams in this or games being held on this day since it's on a Saturday? It looks like the game will be held @ Mason Co. Thanks in advance.
  5. Guess I was a few minutes late...sorry Scribe. I didn't see your thread.
  6. Sorry if I missed this or if there was already a thread about it, but did Guyn verbal to Charlotte 49ers? According to his ESPN profile, he did: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=56382&season=2010&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fplayer%3frecruitId%3d56382%26season%3d2010
  7. Both teams will likely use a lot of players. Coach H and Coach Henley focus on developing players and finding the right combinations during the summer. As long as their kids are playing hard they're not worried about winning or losing in the preseason.
  8. That should be an interesting match up. Let us know when you find out a date and time.
  9. Who had the best draft? The L.A Lakers. They traded their picks for cash and future draft picks, which allows them to sign two key pieces from their championship team...Trevor Ariza and Lamar Odom. I'll take getting cash to sign those two over any player in the draft.
  10. Holmes beat Highlands by around 20...Allen was the only player the Birds were missing.
  11. Seneca is going to surprise a lot of people this year. Deonte Maddox is a player and will likely play at the D1 or D2 level. He also has a nice supporting cast in McElwain, Nance, Shaw, and Stone. I was very impressed with Seneca when I saw them last year and it looks like they're picking up where they left off. Don't be surprised if they make a run at the 7th region championship...they are that talented.
  12. I wouldn't put too much stock in to summer ball.
  13. Treg is more of a forward than a big man. He'd struggle against some of the better "big men" around the state like Behanan, Fant, Pittman, Euton, Gibbs, to name a few.
  14. Anything new on the Avery situation yet and whether or not he's transferring to Holmes or been playing with Conner?
  15. Isn't it still up in the air whether Kindred will even play or not? Or am I thinking of a different GRC player?
  16. This reminds me of Dane Cook's "B&E" segment...I know what you're thinking...bacon and eggs? noooooooo
  17. I just don't think those teams lack of height would be able to contend with GRC. Those teams you mentioned could very well slide in to the #5 spot though. GRC's front court will create a lot of mismatches.
  18. GRC will easily be top 5 in the state next year. I'd think they should be in the 3-5 range. I'd personally rank the top 5 like this: 1. Holmes 2. Scott Co 3. Eastern 4. GRC 5. Christian Co
  19. Actually...they're 70-5 over the past 2 years and 95-15 over the past 3. (36-2 ; 34-3 ; 25-10)
  20. Henley's record at Holmes is 256-107: 97-98: 14-12 (9th Region Semi Finalist) 98-99: 22-5 99-00: 21-9 (9th Region Runner Up) 00-01: 10-17 01-02: 17-12 02-03: 17-13 (9th Region Semi Finalist) 03-04: 17-8 04-05: 24-7 (9th Region Champs) 05-06: 19-9 06-07: 25-10 (State Semi-Finalist) 07-08: 34-3 (State Runner Up) 08-09: 36-2 (State Champs) 98/99 and 03/04 are the only two times Holmes has failed to make it to the region tournament under Henley.
  21. The best way to tell how good a coach is, is to see how they learn from their mistakes. Coach Henley and his staff are great at making adjustments...here are a few examples just from this past year alone: Game 1: Bryan Station 86 Holmes 72 Game 2: Holmes 74 Bryan Station 56 In the first game, Holmes pressed and got torched. Second game, Henley didn't have his team press and forced Bryan Station to be them with half court sets, and you see the result: 30 fewer points for BS. Game 1- Boone Co 45 Holmes 38 Game 2- Holmes 32 Boone Co 29 Difference? Holmes made adjustments defensively and didn't allow Boone to kill them with the back door screens that beat them in the first game. Also look at Henley's record in region championship games and the post season against teams who beat him during the regular season. 04/05 Conner 75 Holmes 72 (OT) Holmes 53 Conner 39 (@ Conner region championship) 06/07: St Henry 50 Holmes 41 Holmes 61 St. Henry 50 (Region Semi Finals) Covcath 42 Holmes 41 ; Covcath 46 Holmes 42 ; Covcath 53 Holmes 50 Holmes 72 Covcath 60 (Region Championship) 08/09 Boone Co 45 Holmes 38 Holmes 32 Boone Co 29 (Region Championship) Coach Hicks is a good coach and gets great results out of his players, but he isn't one of the better coaches at making adjustments against opponents. Example: Game 1- Holmes 53 Conner 46 Game 2- Holmes 72 Conner 50 You obviously haven't seen Holmes very many times if you think Henley just lets them do whatever they want offensively. Why do you think their offensive production is down from years ago when they have more talented teams now? Because he stresses being patient offensively and working for good shots, while playing tough hard nosed defense. Coach Henley is easily one of the top 2 coaches in nky. Hard to argue against 70-5 over two years and 95-15 over 3 years...regardless of the talent level.
  22. Behanan's strength is what makes him so tough to defend and score on and what separates him from the players like Fant, Zollo, and Knipp.
  23. Behanan is going to be a load for ANYONE in the state over the next two years. IMO he will be KY Mr. Basketball in 2011 and is easily the best player for that class.
