  2. To say anyone in Region 16 is "by far the better team" has to have the words Elliott county in the sentence to be true. Teams 2-10 in Region 16 seem pretty even to me. On a given night can a team "play" far better than another team? YES. And I agree on this night from what I hear Fairview played far better than RH. At this point I would agree that Fairview should be ranked #2 in the Region. But what does that really mean when 2-10 is really a toss up? Not much. :thumb:
  3. Everyone seems to have loads of free time...... can someone do my taxes. HaHa.
  4. Someone please take away smiley privileges from this poster. HAHAHA. I believe it is then decided by margin of victory head to head. If their is still a tie after that then they go to a coin flip or draw names. I believe that is how the 64th district decides. It is left up to the district members on how they have previously voted to handle this type of situation. :thumb:
  5. Fairview is playing awfully well with Collins back healthy. Could be a very close game
  6. Are u sure? In my opinion it may explain everthing. :D:D:D
  7. How can a varsity basketball team go a whole half without a field goal????
  8. That doesn't make much sense though..... If they are true cat fans wouldn't they want to get to the bottom of this just like everyone else? I wouldn't expect them to say anything "against" the Ashland program anyway. Just thought they would have some insight. Maybe it is a bad idea IDK. :notworthy::notworthy:
  9. Newman, I'm not sure how long the radio announcers have been at Boyd. If someone from Boyd could get some insight from a couple of people who have been around that program for a while maybe that would produce some credible explanations. Once again just a thought. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
  10. Hey Newman, someone needs to ask Ashlands radio announcers what they think. I think they've been around the program for a while, maybe they could shed some light on this subject. Just a thought........ :D:D:D
  11. That's a good observation ballbrain. The problem with the comparison is that Boyd and Ashland would be considered larger schools, with a much larger talent pool. Fairview, RH, Raceland, even Russell, don't have near the number of kids in their feeder programs. Remember I'm talking quality not quantity. Some of the schools you listed lost kids to transfer. So really for comparison Boyd and Ashland are the only two area teams who have witnessed a mass exodus of kids quitting bball from this senior class. Most of the other schools you mentioned, this years class has not been large since they started as freshmen four years ago. Their is still something wrong with Ashland and Boyd surrounding their programs. I personally don't think it's the coaches. Biggs is a good coach and Boyd's coach is in his first year. But trust me "something" or "someone" is bringing these programs to their knees. :D:D
  12. These jobs may seem appealling but when these coaches left they couldn't wait to get out of town. Two of those coaches I know would have liked to have stayed under different circumstances. Remember The Ashland head coaching job used to be a premier job in the state. :D
  13. "maroon", If you read some of my previous posts you'll see where I DON'T think it's just 2 people responsible for Ashlands downslide over the years. And I've also stated that I think Coach Biggs is a good coach. I do believe there are some "constants" that have been hampering the program for MANY years. This has kept them from keeping good coaches like Biggs and letting them coach to their fullest potential. I don't think they have had any coach since 1990 be a negative impact on the program. :D
  14. In the All "A" I think Elliott made everyones guard play look mediocre. When you compare RH guard play to the rest of the region I think they are solid. Maybe not flashy or superstars, but definitely solid. Don't misinterrprut this as me saying they are better than anyone else. That's not what I'm saying. I just think when tournament time comes RH's guards will be able to hold their own within their district and region(excluding Elliott). Remember it was the pressure defense from these same guards against Bath that enable RH to come back and win...... That's just one mans opinion. :D:D
  15. Well let's just say this I've been around the Ashland program for 25 years and the problems have stayed the same for at LEAST that long. Ask yourself this question why is it the successful coaches they've had don't stay around long? Breeden, Hall(Jeff NOT Steve), Craynor Slone, etc. etc. etc. all left for what many coaches would consider lessor positions. So then ask yourself this question. Who or what has been around the program for 30yrs? I believe over the years, Ashland basketball has brought itself down because of the politics surrounding their program. Good coaches have left, players have left or quit. If you add 1+1 it always equals 2 !!!! :scared::scared:
  16. Unfortuneately the "circumstances" Ashand finds itself in are brought on by the "people" surrounding the program. Negativity breeds Negativity. I don't believe in the 8ft or 9ft goal philosophy. Kentucky's high schools have some of the best pure shooters in the surrounding states. I actually believe it works the opposite way. I've seen kids programs that have 8ft goals and those kids don't shoot with any better form than kids playing on 10ft. goals. Most kids don't usually start shooting with correct form until their in the 8th or 9th grade no matter what state they play in. Just my opinion..... :thumb:
  17. I can tell your from experience in the Ashland system that the things surrounding the program are the main problem. Not the feeder system or even fundamentals. I was in the system by choice and if I would have had another choice I would have been out of the system !!!!!!! :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:
  18. Looks good IMO. I'm sure it will change weekly until seasons end (except for #1):clap::clap:
  19. Most fans see what they want to see. It's funny how I've heard fans say that refs in a certain game are calling too many fouls, and the same fans have also said in another game The refs weren't calling enough fouls. I believe that 3 refs are definitely better than two. I've played and coached in both situations and trust me 99.9% of the time 3 refs are better. Just remember there are good refs and bad refs. Just like there are good coaches and bad coaches, good players and bad players. Being a referree is NOT an easy job. Most refs are trying to do the best they can and we need to understand that and accept it.
  20. WOW!! Clark must be really improving since the start of the season. I watched them play Elliott in the Russell preseason shootout and Elliott made them look VERY bad. Don't get me wrong I wasn't there to watch EC, just to watch all the games as a fan. Coach Humphreys is a very good coach and has evidently really got his team playing well at this point in the season. They could be scary come tournament time if they keep this up.:clap::clap:
  21.:clap::clap:I think where kids are from and where they attend school is a mute point for all schools. The main thing people are forgetting is that these kids still have to play well together in order to achieve success. This is why I believe EC is a VERY good high school team that has a great chance to succeed at the All A state. Congratulations EC and Represent our Region like we know your capable of, with pride, and Unity. I am not a EC "fan", But I WILL support them and root for them in the state ALL A.
  22. :ohbrother:Remainding schedule for the year doesn't look promising. That schedule looks tough.
  23. :clap::clap: HAHAHAHAHA. Thats funny doc! :clap::clap:
