Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But some districts require each team within that district to play twice (home and away). That would be 6 games. I've been told that tournaments count as 1 game on a schedule. There is a 23 game limit on varsity basketball. Some of these schedules just don't add up. Sounds like some districts don't require district regular season games or at least two games against each opponent.

Your All "A" history is impressive. Thanks. I feel much better. I wish I could live off my previous years 401k balances too........ Appreciate your opinions and good luck to ALL of the All "A" teams still playing from every region across our wonderful state. We have some outstanding athletes across our state who are enjoying all the small school atmosphere to the fullest

Exactly what do past records have to do with present teams?????? I'm not quite sure but I don't remember a team winning based previous seasons records. HMMMM?

At what point did someone say "beat". It was only said "weak" compared to other All "A" teams in the state. By the way what do you consider traveling out of a teams area. One School in the 16th (Rose Hill) has traveled to Louisville for a tournament and to West Virginia where they took on Tug Valley who is ranked sixth in WV in their class. Just because they aren't playing schools in YOUR area doesn't make them less qualified to Win. Also have you ever been responsible for filling out a High School basketball schedule on a yearly basis. Have you been a Coach or Athletic Director? We can always question and every one has their opinions, but let's remember that they are only opinions.

DEFINITELY not a JOKE! There's no doubt Elliott is a HEAVY favorite in the 16th All A, but the quality of All A teams in the 16th is no laughing matter. Elliott is a favorite to not only win the All A but also the Sweet Sixteen. Why should this discount the other "a" teams in the 16th. By NO means are they weak especially to the other "a" teams in the state. Don't mistake "weak" for being less publicized.

I understand what your saying "16th" Elliott is clearly the favored and will be all year. What I am saying is the All "A" teams in Region 16 are having outstanding years. Examples would be Fairview, Rose Hill, Bath Co., Menifee etc. etc. etc. . Really if you looking at the entire Region with all schools the All "A" teams appear to be the strongest part of the Region. When you include Elliott into the mix it's hard to argue.

Wow! What a great high school game and atmoshere. I thought all the kids from Rose Hill contributed in some way for this win. Even Gregg who was in foul trouble most of the night was seen and heard encouraging his teamates during play and timeouts. He was even handing out water during the TO's. Let's also not forget that Ashland's Ryan Bonner had a heck of a game. With the size Rose Hill has across the front line he never quit and really showed he is a "beast" to handle down low.

The 16th region all A regionals has some OUTSTANDING games on tap, with some interesting matchups for 1st round winners. Some of the 16th's best teams will be competing.:scared::scared::scared:

I personally think people put too much stock in rankings. Everyone's ranking would be accurate this year as long as they have Elliott #1. The rest would all be in various positions based on where your loyalty stands. Even with Elliott being the clear favorite ANYONE can be beat......just ask last years New England Patriots.

I'll go RH by 5. Any time Ashland plays at home they are hard to beat. There will be a lot of young talented players on the floor for both teams both Ashland and Rose Hill. This should be a great high school game to watch.

:idunno::idunno:There are many reasons today why fundamentals suffer. One of them is today's player only plays with his or her high school coach during the school season. Other times throughout spring and summer they are playing on different traveling teams. From what I've seen these games are playing soley on offensive ability and the ability to score one on one. This combined with the current NBA which is extremely lacking in fundamentals are making it harder and harder for High School coaches to REALLY teach fundamentals. It's hard to find a good coach who is also a teacher and vice versa. Trust me there is a huge difference in coaching a game and teaching the sport of basketball. I wish we could get back to the fundamentals, but its getting harder for coaches to compete with the NON-fundamentals NBA and summer leagues. I may be wrong but thats just my 2 cents.
