I'm not sure, I know they already registered to play in the D-2 nationals before adding the Johnson brothers to the team. The actually did good at the state AAU tournament finishing 4th. This is one of their best years. Hopefully they can pull it out and win a D-2 national championship!

The Firebirds are playing in the Division 2 AAU nationals. They went 3-0 in pool play, and they have won their first two games in the championship bracket. I know its D-2, but thats not bad.

Can anyone name a recent Holmes transfer that wasn't originally from Covington?

What do you mean no more than yours? I didn't post a top ten. You made the point that holmes has 3-4 players in the top ten, why can't another school. So what makes The Boone players (Gabbard, Pop, Earls, and Cotton, worthy enough to be in the top ten, but not the Highlands group (Kowelnek, Gordon, Grote, and Grubbs? Avery was the second leading scorer for Conner last year averaging 10.6. He also led the team in rebounding. He averaged more points than Gabbard, Popp, Earls, and Cotton. Stats do not lie! Not to mention Avery does have more potential at the next level, than the players mentioned, becasue of his size and athletic ability. My top ten 1. Ricardo Johnson 2. Elijah Pittman 3. One thing you fail to mention is that all four players above are originally from Covington. It's not like they traveled 100+ miles out of nowhere to transfer to a state powerhouse, like some have in the past.

I could see Ricardo sayin something like that, lol. If he goes to Bradley or Marshall, or anywhere bigger, he will have to fly. I talked to him no that long ago, and he said Bradley was going to fly him out there for an officaial visit, but he couldn't because it was during nationals and would be in Orlando.

Nationals are in Orlando, Fl. The Disney world wide of sports complex I believe. They are driving down, lol where did you hear he was afraid to fly.

No Pittman? He would also be a big edition to the teem. And didn't Brandon Tucker used to play for them?

I've heard of the Firebirds, but I don't know really who plays for them except for some Newport kids, does any one have a good idea on who is on that team?

He's going down to nationals with the Firebirds. Hopefully he will pick up some more offers!

Well I had to hear it myself directly from Rico!

I just confirmed it, he did get offers from Ohio U and Marshall!

Also Former coaches could have turned down offers to go to tournamnets like the AIT, Code is not backing down from any challenge.

How about Scott Co. and Holmes to start, they wre no. 1 and 2 in the state for most of the year. They are now playing in holiday tournaments such as the the Ashland Inivitational and others. They don't have an easy schedule at all except for Calvary and Silvergrove, who are in their district.

You are completely right on all points. They are very Loyal to Coach Bruce, because of all the stuff he does for them off the court. I'm not saying he not a good coach, but they need someone that will preach fundamentals and will help them get ready for college. They probably could get sponsored if they became a little more organized. The Johnson Brothers and Pittman could go play for any team in Ky for free gurantee it. When your that good, the organizations like DS and SS will look past all the costs to play. Its happened before. I think its too late for them to change teams now. If they were going to change at all, it should have been last year. They have nationals and then they are done. They do play a very hard schedule for HS ball, so they can get exposure from that also.

I can agree on changing AAU teams, but not the firebirds come on. They do not go to the big tournaments wtih the all the college coaches. He wouldn't get much exposure with them. Queen City prophets would be a good fit for him, he already has played for them, and they do compete at all the big tournaments. Ricardo Johnson, has no doubt made a name for himself. I think when high school ball starts he will be recieving many offers!

I am very close to Campbell County basketball, and I haven't heard anything about them putting pressure on Code to win. The last two years have been alot better than the ones before. Last year they played a tough schedule compared to the past. I think if they continue to get better and better every year Code is fine.

They definitley have the talent,size, and athleticism to compete at the national level. If they had a better coach, that had the team disciplined and motivated they would be really good. When you see them play you can tell that they can be alot better, they just play like a pick up game. Even the two games they lost, no one on the floor was better than R. Johnson and Pittman.

Does anyone know if the KY Players or DS East won their 1:00 games?

Overall I did enjoy watching the games, but those things I mentioned before has stopped me from coming back.

Yes! This tournament is not friendly to people who just want watch the games. I walked down some hallway looking around, and I was near some of the courts and I was yelled at for being there, how was I suppose to know. I also got yelled at for looking at a bracket. Whats up with all these dumb rules. They also made me get out of my seat at court 6 the practice gym. I paid 15.00 and I can't get a seat thats ridiculus!

Just heard the Ky Players won the 2:40 game and they play at 8:00.
