  1. The Lady Eagles won their second game in a row with a win over Cooper tonight. Another good team effort. Lauren Tibbs led the way with 37 points and another 27 rebound game. Congratulations.
  2. Jenna Trimpe an 8th grader started last night and has been working in more. She has a real confidence about her and I think her potential is high. Audra Starnes also has been running the point as well.
  3. Lauren Tibbs recorded 27 rebounds tonight and became the all time leading rebounder in Scott HS history with 1186 total rebounds. Congratulations Lauren.
  4. Congratulations to the Lady Eagles on a solid victory tonight over a good Bracken Co team. Lauren Tibbs led the way with 26 points and 27 rebounds. Jill Buntin added 15 points and Taylor Stinson was in double figures as well. Scott has struggled out of the gate so this was a much improved overall effort tonight.
  5. I know there were alot of scrimmage panoramas going on around the state this weekend. Dixie Heights was in action today vs. Lexington Lafeyette on the campus of Berea and Scott was in action vs. Louisville Assumption at Bullit East. Any other updates from other scrimmages?
  6. Congratulations to Abby and her family. It is a great accomplishment.
  7. It was a wonderful ceremony today at Scott HS. A lot of wonderful friends, family and supporters were present to support Lauren as she signed her letter of intent.
  8. Lauren Tibbs will be signing her letter of intent with Marquette University to play basketball at Scott HS on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 3pm. Congratulations Lauren as you move from a Scott Lady Eagle to a Marquette Golden Eagle.
  9. It is down to the final four in the 9th region volleyball tournament. Notre Dame vs Ryle at 6:30pm St. Henry vs Scott at 7:30pm Notre Dame and St. Henry are certainly the favorites. It will be interesting to see if Scott and Ryle can raise their games and pull the upset.
  10. They are in need of a true post player with size. Lauren will have a great opportunity to play. It was just one of the criteria we looked at that played a part.
  11. The Scott Eagles defeated Holy Cross tonight in a hard fought match 2-0 for their third straight 36th district championship. Congratulations to Coach Sullivan, Coach Trame and the entire team. After losing your best player and D1 signee, most teams would have had a hard time recovering and adjusting to new roles. Everyone has stepped up and done a magnificant job. 30-8 going into the regional tournament. Well done ladies.
  12. All three of her final schools were wonderful opportunities and had a lot to offer. Marquette had the little extras that pushed them over the top. First and foremost is a fantastic academic reputation, playing in the Big East, outstanding facilities and wonderful support of their athletes. In the end, Lauren knew it was the right fit for her from top to bottom. All three schools and coaching staffs did a fantastic job throughout the recruiting process. They were classy to the end!!
  13. Lauren Tibbs verbally committed to play basketball in the Big East at Marquette University beginning in the fall of 2011. Congratulations Lauren!!!
  14. I agree that the 10th region will be fairly wide open again this year. I also agree with Montgomery Co and GRC being the preseason favorites. They have been the most consistent teams over the past several years. Scott at #3 has a very powerful inside game with Tibbs and Stinson but it will depend on how their perimeter players perform. They are pretty young at the 1 and 2 positions. It should be another interesting year in the 10th region.
  15. Lauren has narrowed her college choices down to Marquette, Dayton and WKU. She will be finishing up her official visits next week and plans on making her decision by the week after that. Three great choices. She plans on signing her letter of intent during the early signing period in November. Good luck and congratulations Lauren.
  16. Congratulations to Lauren Tibbs who recorded her 1000th career kill tonight in their victory over Simon Kenton. Lauren O'Conner recorded her 1000th kill earlier in the season before she was injured. The two Lauren's are the only two in school history to reach this milestone. Congratulations to both.
  17. Congratulations to the Scott Lady Eagles volleyball team for defeating Simon Kenton tonight 25-10 and 25-16. It was a big victory in district play.
  18. Congratulations Lauren! It has been a pleasure watching her develop into a dominating player over the past four years. She will have a fantastic career at UK. Unfortunately, Lauren broke her finger in practice earlier this week and will be lost to the Lady Eagles for the rest of the season. We wish her the best and a speedy recovery. Very sad news for Lauren in her senior season and for the rest of the team who had the potential to make a strong run in the regional this year. They will have to regroup quickly with Ryle on the schedule tonight and Notre Dame on Thursday.
  19. Simon Kenton, Campbell Co., N. Oldham, Boone Co., Dixie, Conner, Tates Creek, Cooper and Holy Cross.
  20. The Scott Eagles volleyball team defeated Holy Cross in the finals of the Sept. Slam volleyball tournament hosted by Scott. The Eagles went 6-0 in the tournament and defeated Holy Cross in two games in the championship game. This is the second year in a row that Scott has won the championship. Congratulations Lady Eagles!!!
  21. Lady Eagles lost to Henry Clay 25-19 and 25-23. Good experience against good competition that will hopefully pay off down the road.
  22. The Scott Lady Eagles have battled to the finals of the Gold bracket in the Bluegrass Invitational this weekend in Lexington. They defeated Ryle in the semi finals earlier and are playing Henry Clay in the finals. This is a rematch from pool play where Henry Clay defeated Scott in three. They reached the finals of the Gold bracket earlier in August at the Bluegrass games and lost to Henry Clay in the finals. Way to go Eagles.
  23. My daughter is going to sign a D1 letter of intent to play basketball this fall. She played volleyball her entire career and is playing again her senior year. High school volleyball starts in mid July and runs right up to basketball season. There were times I wish she would focus just on basketball because that is her passion though she is a very gifted volleyball player as well. She worked very hard in the off season on her basketball skills and played summer basketball right up through this summer to gain the exposure that she needed for college recruiting and to improve her skills. We were very up front with the volleyball coach and she knew that basketball would come first in July and she was wonderful to work with. My daughter commited to working the best she could on shooting and her strength throughout volleyball. The college coaches were very supportive of her playing two sports and have come to numerous volleyball games to watch her and support her. She was very dedicated to her volleyball team and would not think of quitting volleyball to focus just on basketball. It may not be the recipe that works for everyone, but it has worked well for my daughter.
  24. My daughter is finishing the process and will be making her decision this fall. I am not a huge fan of AAU, but if your daughter has the potential to play at the next level it is the way to get the exposure she needs so that the college coaches will follow up during the school ball season. The team she played on targeted good NCAA exposure events on a regional basis and went to those tournaments her freshman and sophomore summers. She got great exposure and had interest from 40-50 D1 schools. Would she have been able to garner that kind of attention without the summer tournaments, probably not. This past year she had a lot of coaches come see her play during school ball but it was only because of the summer exposure. She has been working with a basketball trainer on mainly post position skills for three years on the side and has been working with another trainer for the past year on strictly ball handling. She has also been working with a strength trainer for two years. There is no way she would be the player she is today without those aspects as well. You are correct when you say that most summer teams will not emphasize that kind of skill development. Simply going out and playing 60 games in the summer is not the answer. It is interesting to note that most of the college coaches recruting my daughter were not that worried about how many tournaments she played in this summer. They were thrilled about the skill and strength work.
