  1. Shelby County (0-0, pending Saturday 8/22/26 game vs Taylor County) Oldham County (1-0, beat DeSales, 38-10 Friday 8/21/26 at DeSales) Oldham County's youngsters played a pretty mature ballgame on the road in their first game of the season against DeSales, keeping it professional, blue-collar, and aggressive against the Colts. With just 3 returning starters on both sides of the ball, and missing the leading passer, top 2 leading rushers, and the leading pass catcher from 2025, Oldham looked relatively polished on both sides of the ball, with reasonably good execution for a Week 1 clash on the road. Veteran Oldham coach Jamie Reed, one of the winningest coaches in metro Louisville, is now 2-0 in season openers at the Buckner school. True, DeSales is a smaller school, but the Colts have an exemplary coach of their own in Mike Jackson, a tradition of football excellence in their class, and they returned 19 starters from last year's 6 win team that won 4 of its last 6. So while Oldham had a slight advantage in numbers on the sidelines, the Colts had a significant advantage in game experience. Junior QB Javy Tucker was outstanding in his first start as the Oldham QB, particularly considering he missed the second scrimmage against Lexington Christian after a mild injury suffered against Bowling Green. Threw a couple of passes for scores - including a 44 yard bomb - and ran for a third score. Dixon Mount looked solid in multiple roles, playing the wing/slot position. Offensive and defensive lines both looked vastly improved since last week's scrimmage vs. Lexington Christian. Oldham's defense really flew to the ball, forcing pressure on the DeSales QB, forcing fumbles, and making DeSales pay for two bad snaps on punts, both of which resulted in safeties. Nothing on Shelby yet - the Rockets play Taylor County tonight. BROADCAST: The Pegasus Sports Network, the official voice of Oldham County HS sports, will go on-air with the Skyworks Pregame Show at 7 pm. Kickoff at 7:30 pm. Mike Montgomery (play by play) and Jamie Brown (color commentary) will provide the call. We hope everyone will enjoy the new, improved Pegasus Sports. Go to www.psnky.com The broadcast will be LIVE, FREE, and also ARCHIVED on the website indefinitely. CM
  2. A reminder to all Oldham fans: All remaining Oldham County games will be broadcast via Pegasus Sports Network, the official broadcaster for OCHS sports. Unfortunately, Pegasus was prevented from broadcasting at DeSales due to circumstances beyond the schools' control. See everyone next Friday: Oldham County vs Shelby County. You'll enjoy the new, improved Pegasus! www.psnky.com CM
  3. Oldham 46 yard bomb TD 24-0
  4. Oldham up 17-0 and dominating. The Colonels have scored twice on safeties due to DeSales issues snapping long on punts. Javy Tucker has looked very good at QB for OC, despite missing the second scrimmage with a minor injury. 4:48 to play in first half and Oldham has the ball first and 10 at DeSales 46
  5. Not DeSales' fault. I'll leave it at that. AD was very apologetic about the situation. Pegasus has a very good relationship with the Colts.
  6. The early word from DeSales is that Pegasus will not be able to broadcast. :-(
  7. Oldham County Colonels (6-5 in 2025) at DeSales (6-6 in 2025) Friday, 8/21/26 7:30 pm kickoff Inexperience vs experience. Two of the more highly successful coaches (Jamie Reed at Oldham and Mike Jackson at DeSales) square off with very different squads on Friday. Oldham County has just 3 returning starters on offense and three on defense.....the Colts return 9 starters on offense and 10 on defense..... Oldham has a lot of question marks early, but returns two stellar players on D, in Junior MLB Jess Officer, who tallied 100 tackles in 2025 and senior OLB Lincoln Weaver, who was #2 in 6A in 2025 with 9.5 sacks and #1 in 6A in 2025 with 5 forced fumbles. The Colonels have switched to a 3-stack defensive look from last year's 4 man front, and will look to put more pressure on the offenses they face, sometimes with a 3-3 look, and, more often, with a 3-5 formation. How Oldham handles the scheme switch will likely tell the tale in terms of wins and losses in the early going. At QB, Javy Tucker looks to lead the way, and Dixon Mount - the backup QB - looks to be a key player at one of the wingback positions. Cayenne Redmon looks to be the new go-to guy in the receiving game. Redmon, who has great speed, also has the team's "best hands" and is also skilled at running his routes. It's a lot of new faces on offense, though. The Colonels graduated Derek Dees, a three year starter at QB. Besides losing their top passer to graduation, they also lost their top two running backs (who combined for over 1,000 yards rushing) and their top receiver. DeSales is looking to improve with a group that started slow in 2025, but finished fast, winning 4 of their last 6 games, including one playoff contest. Mike Jackson, who coached at Oldham County in the late 90s and early 2000s, winning two 4A Coach of the Year awards while in Buckner, will be watching the Offensive Line in particular, as that was the Colt's weakness in 2025. Despite the fact DeSales has 19 starters returning, the Colts lost some critical contributors at QB and WR, where they lost a top-15 passer and a top-15 wide receiver. Defensively, Jackson is hoping to better adjust to teams that show option looks; a problem in 2025. Toward that end, Jackson thinks this team will be solid in the box, but unfortunately, the Colts' scrimmage opponents mostly threw the ball, meaning the defensive front remains a bit of a question mark heading into Friday's matchup. KEYS: In Week 1, everything is key, but, the following will be areas of concern: Oldham County Finding the correct places to be in the new defense Ability to exert pressure on DeSales' offensive scheme Efficient pass game to help free up the run DeSales Ability to maintain / grind out long drives Assignment defense against Oldham rushing attack Ability of new QB not to get too excited and try to do too much As of this time, we expect the game will be broadcast on the Pegasus Sports Network. We are awaiting final approvals from DeSales. Tune in on www.psnky.com at 7 pm (half hour before kickoff) for the SkyWorks Pregame Show. Mike Montgomery will have the play-by-play and Jamie Brown the color commentary. Be sure to tune in an see the NEW, IMPROVED production as Pegasus debuts a 4-camera setup! CM
  8. Looks like their last big season (defined here as double-digit wins) was 2012, when they went 14-1 and didn't lost until falling to Trinity in the 6A championship game.....
  9. Went to PRP in 7th/8th grade (remember when you didn't go to a middle school and you went to the JUNIOR HIGH part of a high school?). They had decent teams (1974 and 1975) with the likes of Jim McDonough at QB, Orlando Hart at WR, Chuck Urevick at RB, etc. I left Louisville after '75 but kept following the Panthers....their 84 team was absolutely awesome. Even in the early 2000s, PRP was fielding strong, athletic, talented teams. I guess every program has a periodic downturn.
  10. The NFL....Where there's an automatic one year ban for betting on games and lifetime banishment for fixing a game......hmmm, doesn't sound like much of a football future to me. If he played like someone named "Manning", "Montana", "Marino" (where'd all these "M"s come from??), etc. maybe some GM takes a risk, extracts a promise from the kid in blood, and saddles him with a million contract penalties for violating the rules......but - while he may be an above average QB - I just don't see him as being such a talent that many teams will be willing to take that risk / waste that money (except maybe Cleveland, but they haven't recognized exceptional QB talent since Kosar.....? ) Bottom-line: The kid has a problem, and he screwed up BIG. I feel sorry for him, truly. I have a friend who has a similar problem. Unfortunately for Sorsby, it may have just cost him BIG.
  11. Looks to be a pretty aggressive schedule. Going to use a little gas those first two weeks....
  12. True! The UFL also finally seemed to figure out that massive amounts of open mics (with the coaches, assistant coaches, referees, players, ad infinitum) isn't really necessary. Watched a regular season game where almost the entire 3rd quarter only had such "open mic" audio (no announcing)....totally worthless. This was MUCH better and the announcers were good (though Brock Huard was kind of "Mr. Obvious" on the field.....)
  13. I don't think this product can compete with the Kings. Louisville is a good 70 miles away, but Arena football sputtered and failed in Louisville - but the Kings' wound up as the #2 team, attendance-wise, in the UFL, averaging about 11K per game with no game under 10,000.
  14. This has been a lot of fun so far, regardless of the title game outcome. My youngest son (adult) and I went to the first two home games, and have followed all of the others religiously on TV. It isn't quite the NFL, for sure, but it's exciting, very competitive, and frankly a lot of the UFL rules make far more sense than the NFL's. Congrats to the team for the big win over St. Louis today, avenging the regular season loss, and moving them into the championship game against D.C. If they win, they will have become 1) the first UFL team to start 0-3 and finish with a winning record, 2) the first UFL team to start 0-3 and go to the playoffs, and 3) they will have (if they beat DC) defeated both of their playoff opponents on their opponents' home field. Along the way, the Kings' kicker set a UFL record, put a defensive player in the final four finalists for league MFP..... FUN SEASON!
  15. Thanks so much for the kind words, DMC! Seeing replies like yours makes my day... Not quite extinct....I worried when I had to step aside for the last two years that maybe nobody would care (that Pegasus was gone) and that maybe "that was it." But I am so excited to be back, and so happy to bring a much more improved product to the air. Our old production was decent, but extremely simple as I was announcer/producer/director all in one.....now we have a dedicated producer, more cameramen, better software and graphics.... I am hoping everyone will like the new, Pegasus 2.0! If you get a chance, come by the press box and say "hi!" CM
  16. You will like all the changes, I think, Bobcat! Four camera operation, with replays, some exciting new graphics and effects......for the first time, PSN will have a dedicated producer of the show, instead of having me trying to produce everything while I'm announcing.... It'll be like nothing OC Football has ever had before.... And - as always - only announcers with extensive experience in Oldham County sports. I've been announcing OC sports since 1979 (and following OC sports since 1976), and color commentator Jamie Brown is a former North Oldham coach and current administrator in the school system. All the substitute announcers will have Oldham County experience. So the commentators will be able to talk about football in the county from experience. CM
  17. The 8th is always fun.....and there's something unpredictable that happens every year. And there have been many years where a decently strong team upset one of the favorites in the tournament, only to be stunned by another less-regarded team in the following round. Don't blink; you might miss something.....LOL CM
  18. Last saw Goodin two years ago....really looking forward to seeing how he's evolved since on 9/11 when Oldham County faces Collins. We'll be there with Pegasus Sports to broadcast. Should be fun! CM

  20. Literally just received it 5 minutes ago. Putting up (below) now.
  21. It's good to be back. I've missed BGPreps.
  22. I'm baaaaaaack! SO SORRY to have been away the last couple of years/seasons!! Serving as the executor of my parents' estate turned into a multi-year, 7-day-a-week job. Combined with my real job, and some pesky health issues, I was pretty much out of action for everything else. Now....the estate is almost completely resolved, I'm semi-retired from Blue & Co., LLC (working 3 days a way; full retirement is looming at January 31, 2027), and - well - the health issues are still there, but they are manageable. I've missed you guys.....hopefully, I'm going to find that many familiar names are still in BGPreps country. Meanwhile.... The PEGASUS SPORTS NETWORK is also BACK! PSN will broadcast each and every Oldham County football game in 2026, home and away! For football fans, you'll be pleased with all the changes to the broadcasts, including a 4-camera setup, instant replays, etc. Having a 6-man crew means I'll be able to concentrate on play by play only instead of having to produce the broadcast at the same time. Former North Oldham coach Jamie Brown returns as the color commentator. Looking forward to seeing Coach Jamie Reed's second Oldham County team. His first went 6-5, but I know that won't be enough for Reed. He'll be looking for improvement in 2026, which may be a challenge with what might be a team depending a lot on some youngsters. Much more to come on that.... CM
