  1. He had 32 against Highlands in the Redhawks' second game at South.... Hits 57% from the floor....over 80% at the line.....averages a team-high 8+ rebounds a game from his point guard spot..... Averages almost 24 points a game as a point guard - but had only made 4 three pointers on the season coming into tonight(!) Tonight, he hit fadeaways, runners in the lane, fifteen footers off the baseline, and three pointers.....and on defense, he was a menace. Just a junior. He's a player. I understand Jacksonville State and four D2 schools have all offered, and several D1 schools, including Morehead, Murray, and UK, are showing some interest.
  2. Bullitt Central faces Oldham County in Buckner on Wednesday, 1/4/23. Oldham County (6-5) is off to a pretty solid start in a rebuilding year under first year coach Ron Ferch. Bullitt Central (11-2) is off to another great start under fourth-year coach Jessie Curry. In three previous years under Curry, the Lady Cougars have won 24, 18, and 23 games, and they're on pace for another fantastic year. The two teams have one common opponent, North Bullitt. Oldham lost by 20 to the Lady Eagles; BC split two games, winning by 4 points before losing to the Lady Eagles by 6 points in their most recent meeting. BC figures to be the favorites in this one, but this is the kind of game Oldham has to show it can be competitive in if Ferch is to keep the upward momentum going. FREE, live, hi-definition video coverage begins at 7 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com
  3. Tied at 34 at the half despite North shooting 68% from the floor. Seneca's House single-handedly kept the Redhawks in the game. Unless my memory fails, neither team ever led by more than 6 points. Dallas Roberts (North, 29 points) missed a runner just before the buzzer, but Luke Anderson grabbed the rebound and hit a tough follow-shot at the buzzer to secure the win. Quelron House (Seneca) led all scorers with 31 points. North improves to 12-5; Seneca falls to 6-5.
  4. Freshman game goes to North.....North JVs headed to victory, leading 40-23 midway through the fourth. Main event should be interesting if Seneca can hit shots against the taller Mustangs. Pegasus goes on-air at 7 pm ET with special guest color commentator Mac McIntosh
  5. Tough loss for the Demons, but this is the kind of game you want to watch! Cheeseman has slowly built this Williamstown team up ....nothing is going to be a given in the 32nd district tournament this year..... Kudos to both teams for a heckuva game!
  6. On air at 7 pm tonight with special guest commentator Mac McIntosh. North has won 7 of its last 9, with the only losses during that period to Top Ten teams Warren Central (by 14, North's worst loss of the year) and to Lexington Catholic by 8. North has wins over highly-ranked teams in Trinity (50-48 on a buzzer-beater by Dallas Roberts), Lyon County (107-73!), North Laurel (81-67), and Mason County (65-51). North has played a brutal schedule that has also featured Taft (OH) and Spire Institute (lost to Taft by 6 and SPIRE by 2). Seneca is unranked, but is on a bit of a roll of late. The Redhawks have won 5 of their last 6 games, and have beaten some unranked, but above-average foes in Highlands (90-81) and Sencer County (63-52). They also have one win over a ranked team, defeating Butler 68-65. CM
  7. LOL I am the broadcast voice for the three Oldham County schools.....among my other posts here on BGP, I always put out a string regarding the games Pegasus Sports will broadcast so people will know how they can watch. My broadcasts are free hi-definition video broadcasts that are put on by an all-volunteer crew just for the pleasure of the HS fans in Oldham County (plus the 8th Region; PSN is the unofficial voice of the boys/girls 8th Region tournaments). No charge to watch. This game will be broadcast by Pegasus (in fact, the next three North games will be broadcast on PSN - North vs. Seneca, North vs. Lloyd Memorial on 12/7, and North vs Dixie Heights the following week.) I generally post these strings 3-5 days prior. BTW, welcome to BGP. CM
  8. Who: North Oldham (11-4) vs. Seneca (6-4) When: Tuesday, 1/3/23 tipoff at 7:30 pm ET Where: North Oldham HS in Goshen, KY Broadcast: Free, live, hi-def video coverage starts at 7 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com North Oldham off to a terrific start, with victories over ranked teams in Trinity, North Laurel, Mason County, and Lyon County - who the Mustangs hung 107 points on. Only KY losses are to #1-ranked Warren Central and 8th region rival Simon Kenton. Seneca's record is less stellar, but the Redhawks have fared better against their tougher opponents, and have solid victories over Highlands, Butler, and Spencer County - all unranked teams, but all three teams that figure to be players in their respective regional races.
  9. McCracken very business-like in title game victory. McCune very quietly went about his business - he was unstoppable down low, and was a force in the paint, defensively. Klope caused the Dragons big problems on the glass; he would have been a HUGE difference-maker had he been able to stay on the floor (foul issues). Horrifically poor shooting doomed the Dragons, though South kept within striking distance thanks to great free throw shooting until late in the fourth. For South, this was their "UK vs. Georgetown" moment - they couldn't throw the ball in the ocean. Credit McCracken for some of that, but the Dragons were even missing the open looks. Just one of those days. South had been shooting about 60% from the floor in their first two games of the tournament and 42% from beyond the arc in two games (24 made threes). Congrats to the Mustangs, and good luck to both teams down the road.
  10. I've been preaching for two years that this kid is a beast.... and he keeps on keepin' on Hammonds is a throw-back to the days of Wes Unseld and Willis Reed....big men who weren't physically the biggest guys in the paint, but guys who BEAT YOU because they KNEW they were going to beat you. They WILLED themselves to OWN every loose ball, every rebound, every putback. You couldn't beat them because they had mentally beaten you before the game began. Hammonds simply wants it more than most guys could ever imagine.
  11. Pegasus Sports will air North Oldham's next game, a home contest against Louisville Seneca, on Tuesday 1/3/23. In fact, we'll be broadcasting their next three games: 1/3/23 vs. Seneca 1/7/23 vs. Lloyd Memorial (tip at 6) 1/10/23 vs. Dixie Heights
  12. Two teams have met just once, in December of 2017, when South won, 70-54. Anyone know if Ian Hart will be back for the Mustangs?
  13. What: Championship game, 2022 Pegasus Sports / First National Bank South Oldham Christmas Tournament Where: South Oldham HS, Crestwood, KY When: Thursday, 12/29/22, tipoff at 7:15 pm Who: South Oldham (6-5) vs. McCracken County (11-0) Broadcast: Free, live, hi-def video coverage starts at 7 pm on www.pegasussportsky.com Two hot teams head into the finals in Crestwood. McCracken is one of the state's few remaining undefeated teams at 11-0; South has won four straight in convincing fashion.
  14. For the second night in a row, South put it away by the half. Dragons with a rocky second half (11 turnovers), but they shot 50% or better each quarter, and over 60% for the game. 42% beyond the arc (11 made threes). Julian Miles with 24 points to lead South. Christian Veirs hit 9 of 10 shots and had 19.
  15. FINAL South Oldham 78 Iroquois 57 Raiders put on a tough rally in the second half but never got closer than 17 South with 11 turnovers in the second half alone, but the Dragons never shot less than 50% in any of the four quarters, finishing 62.7% and 42.3% beyond the arc (11 of 26). Julian Miles had 20 in the first half for South and finished with 24; Christian Veirs hit 9 of 10 shots and finished with 19. Nathan Touro came off the bench to hit four threes and had 14 for South. South (6-5) vs. McCracken County (11-0) in tomorrow night's final. Free, live, hi-def video coverage starts at 7 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com
  16. HALF It's a blowout lead South Oldham 52 Iroquois 23 Dragons hitting 64.5%, including 9 of 18 (50%) beyond the arc. Julian Miles with 20 for South
  17. Don't think the Birds thought they'd be playing in the 7th place game .... but they will be heavily favored in that game, regardless.
  18. Where: 2022 Pegasus Sports / First National Bank South Oldham Christmas Tournament at South Oldham HS, Crestwood, KY When: Wednesday 12/28/22 Tipoff 7:15 pm Who: South Oldham (5-5) vs. Iroquois (8-3) What: Semi-final round Broadcast: FREE, live, hi-def video coverage starts at 7 pm on www.pegasussportsky.com Neither team has a marquee victory yet; South's best win was a 21 point victory over a 5-5 Beechwood team; Iroquois has beaten two teams with winning records (KCD 5-4 and Garrard County 6-4), but the Raiders are also looking to stamp themselves as a force. Both teams can add a little bit to their "credibility" with a win tonight. The winner of this game will advance to the title game and a likely matchup with undefeated McCracken County. Both teams are riding small winning streaks; Iroquois has won five in a row; South has won three straight. Free, live, hi-def video coverage starts at 7 pm on www.pegasussportsky.com
  19. I think without any doubt the Mustangs are the clear favorite in the 8th Region. Lots of basketball yet to be played, and Collins, Woodford County, Grant County, and Spencer County are all likely to have a say (and perhaps others), but right now, the Mustangs look to be the clear favorite to repeat.
  20. Sometimes the numbers just don't lie.... Over 400 career wins at South... The eight winningest seasons in school history.... Three region 8 titles in just the last nine years.... And obviously, the folks in Crestwood appreciate what he's done in the past....his name is already on the court.... As for "the third straight year they haven't been very good....", well, 2021 was a wash, period, for everyone. COVID took care of that. The teams couldn't play summer ball, or practice in a normal fashion. Players missed games and games were cancelled. I wouldn't judge any team by the 2020-1 season. 2021-2 was a "down" year for South - but it was one of only five losing seasons in Simpson's 22 previous seasons with the school. This year? Way too early to tell how this year's South team will far to be casting stones in December.
  21. .....South hit over 60% from the floor, including 52% from beyond the arc, in a dominant first half that ended with a running clock and a 61-22 South advantage. The Dragons repeatedly turned over the Jaguars with an aggressive, trapping, 1-3-1 zone. After halftime, South played a more passive 2-3 zone in the halfcourt and cruised to the win. Dragons played 14 players (10 scored), and they finished 13 of 31 from beyond the arc (42%). South evens its record at 5-5 and East Jessamine falls to 3-8. South plays Iroquois in the semi-finals at 7:15 pm tomorrow (www.pegasussportsky.com for the free, live, hi-def video coverage) and East Jessamine gets a rematch with Garrard County, a team that previously beat the Jaguars by five.
  22. Wednesday schedule: Seneca (4-4) vs. Highlands (10-2) - two teams that maybe didn't expect to be in this game. Highlands will be heavily favored to rebound to victory lane in this one, but the Birds will have to defend the rim better against a very quick Redhawk team. McCracken County (10-0) vs. Beechwood (5-5) - The tourney favorites from Region One won with impressive ease in round one, and they square off against the Tigers, who have won 4 of their last 5 as they go for another upset win in the tournament. Garrard County (6-4) vs. East Jessamine (3-8) - rematch of a previous game won by the Lions by 5. Both teams got overwhelmed in round one by faster, more aggressive teams and look to get back on the winning track. 7:15 pm - South Oldham (5-5) vs. Iroquois (8-3) - These two teams play each year, so they are familiar with each other and each other's style of play. This will be a very fast paced game. If South executes the way they did against East Jessamine, the Dragons have an excellent chance of advancing. The better passing team has the advantage in this one. This game will be broadcast - FREE, live, hi-definition video on www.pegasussportsky.com beginning at 7 pm ET.
