Hopkinsville @ Warren Central Predictions
Hoptown will be tough, but I still like WC at home. Hopefully, the youngsters will be ready to make-up for last weeks loss with a huge win on Senior Night. WC-28 Hoptown-27

Grayson County 15 Warren Central 12
I agree with your comments about possible matchups from 2003-06 with the schools we have mentioned. Of O'boro, Hoptown, and Christian Co. the team that WC has played the least is Hoptown. By far, actually. Last year and this year is the only time in recent memory that WC and Hoptown have played a home and home. Most meetings between the two schools have come in the playoffs. And, as you said, most have not turned out well for WC. I still say that the lack of success against BG has been the real killer.

True. But, it is not like they have never beaten Hoptown, Christian Co., and Owensboro. WC has had a fair amount of success against all of those teams who are now the top dogs in 5A Region 1 along with Bowling Green. The bigger issue at play is that they have almost no success against Bowling Green since the 1993 season. That has been the killer for them in the playoffs the majority of the years they have competed in the second highest classification (current 5A and old 3A).

You are right DragonFire. After 1993, Coach Hood never won another playoff game. Unfortunately, the talent level in the mid and late 90's for WC was not what it was in the mid 80's through the early 90's. It may take a little time for WC to get back up to a highly competitive level. However, I don't think it will take the 9-10 year time frame you mentioned. There is much potential in some of the lower grade levels of the program. WC will lose some students to the new Warren County High School in 2010. However, I still think within a few years WC can be competing at a very high level again. WC should not lose many students to the new high school due to the growth on the opposite end of town. I expect Greenwood to be hit a little harder by the new school.

Not a great performance by the Dragons Friday night, by any stretch. I never would have thought that they would ever lose to Grayson County. But, two or three years after WC reached the state semis in 93 they only won 2 games and lost to Barren County, etc. Dragon Football is not a lost cause. And, WC is not just a basketball school. When the basketball team was reaching the Sweet 16 Final 4 the football team was on their run making region finals and state semi appearances that DragonFire mentioned. As I posted on another thread, WC is a school that can compete at a high level in both football and basketball. Unfortunately, they are not competing at a high level in football this year. But, let's don't throw in the towel yet.

Kentucky football title games heading to Bowling Green
I am truly excited. Will be great to have the state finals in town. Great move for the city of Bowling Green.

And miss Joe Hood.

Dragons struggled mightily tonight. Could not get anything going on offense. Congrats to GHS.

Region Titles = Schools with little football success?
What is interesting is if you went back to the late 80's through the mid 90's for Warren Central. You would find much post season success in football coupled with hoops teams with good records, but little post season success (many first round district knockouts). And, the football team was competing against top programs nationally such as Indianapolis Ben Davis, Montgomery Bell Academy, and Evansville Memorial. WCHS is a school were I think you can have much success in both sports. As a matter of fact, in the calendar year of 1993 WCHS made the Sweet 16 quarterfinals and was a state semifinalist in baseball and football.

Warren East at Allen County-Scottsville predictions
This one may be close. ACS pulled off a huge upset of F-S last week. But, I still see WE as having too much speed for ACS. WE-35 ACS-27

Christian County at Warren Central predictions
WC at home and coming off of a tough loss. I know Christian County has plenty of playmakers this year, but I still have to go with my Dragons. WC-35 Christian County-34

Monroe 8 Warren Central 6 (JV)
Didn't know this......Wow! I guess, congrats to the Falcons JV.

John Hardin 54 Warren Central 21
Probably have as much speed as anyone WC has played. However, Boyle's defense is much better.

Fort Campbell 41 Warren East 6
Good win for Ft. Campbell. East should bounce back and contend for district again, just as they did last year. This game will only help East down the road.

Warren Central @ John Hardin Predictions
I will have to say John by the score of 35-27. I am a glass half full person when looking at the Dragons after last week. They obviously competed much better than in week 1. If they start well I think they can compete this week. John was my pre-season pick to get to state from the West half of 5A, though. I know this will be a huge road test for WC.

Monroe Co/Larue Co. predictions
This should be a heck of a game. I will go with Monroe 28-27.

Franklin-Simpson 2008/2009
Once again, should have a very athletic team.

Warren Central 34 North Hardin 19
Yes, special teams and defense were the difference in the game. Great recovery by the Dragons for their 1st win of the season. Solid defensive effort against NH QB LaRod King, who many were touting as a Mr. Football Candidate.
