Greenwood 22 Warren Central 7

Final.... The win puts the Gators at 6 and 2 on the year.:dancingpa

Dragons struggled mightily tonight. Could not get anything going on offense. Congrats to GHS.

I will say again, makes one miss Rick Wood.

Central struggled on offense because they have the wrong QB playing. Plain and simple. Halcomb is an athlete and has to be on the field somewhere, but ultimately, he is not an effective passer, and the other team knows it. The first two possessions, Central moved the ball with some success, but when Greenwood stacked up against the run and dared them to pass, they couldn't take advantage of it. The Dragons really didn't move the ball again until Quenton Smith came in. Smith has his own set of problems, namely turnovers. His fumble at the Greenwood 10 basically ended any chance Warren Central had of coming away with a win. He also had an INT when they were bombing the ball deep trying to get a quick score. He's in double digits on the year in turnovers, and that has been costly. But ultimately I'd rather have a guy that may turn it over, but can get you a score, than a guy that holds onto the ball but can't move the offense. It's not Troy's fault, he's just not a QB.

Additionally, Greenwood is much better this year than they have been. To quote the phrase, this isn't your daddy's Greenwood. The Gators are no state power by any means, but they are more than able to be very competitive this year, and I never really doubted that they were going to win this game. It wouldn't have FLOORED me if Central had won, but I fully expected Greenwood to win and it wasn't a surprise when they did. They've got a strong senior leader at QB, and they've got a myriad of weapons on offense. And their defense has really stepped it up this year. They've had some down times, such as the first half of the Monroe game, the East & BG games in general. But they have been very stout most of the time, and last night was no exception. Central had no offensive points, and their one score came on a kick return where the returner's foot was in the end zone, and should have been a touchback. The Gators should be 7-3 going into the playoffs, and I expect that they'll bring home that first playoff win in school history. Meanwhile I have no earthly idea how Central plans to defeat either Christian County or Hoptown, one of which they will face in the playoffs.

It is definitely disappointing to see the program in such a state of disarray. It hurts because deep down inside I bleed 'Dragon Blue', the program needs an infusion of a new direction and overall leadership. Maybe a person who played there who knows and understands the hard work, dedication and excellence that is required at Warren Central. A person who knows what it means to don the navy and white and each time the playing field is entered, the team expects to win etc.... I could go on, but I believe if you are reading this, you understand what I am talking about.

GW could/should beat Central Hardin tying the school's best regular season ever with 7 wins.

Keep it close early and "WE" wins.

GO GATOR!!!
