Perhaps you're right. I see your point. But the fact remains that the expectations at Ashland are unrealistic IMO. That's the whole gist of this conversation.

Well if you were talking about Regional championships for Dean Smith that's even nmore ludicrous, since that's not the standard colleege coahes are judged upon. HS coaches are judged upon REGIONAL championships. Maybe your writing skills are lacking. ANd if he hasn't expressed interest, you are stirring the pot IMO.

He is a good coach. You'll have a hard time getting better. If you can't recognize his abilities, that's on you.

Your statements about "winning a region in 8 years" and "11 regions in those 36 years " are clear proof, at least to me, you believe this Ashland to be the Ashland of old. You asked a RHETORICAL question about the number of MS games he attended as if it was some indictment upon him. How involved do you want him to be? Is he supposed to attend every practice and game to build a program? Most places, the HS coach has some input as to who runs his MS program. He then trusts that person to do the things he wants. Admittedly, most do attend a few MS games but the ones I know don't put a ton of stock in merely attending games to build a relationship with kids. They do that in open gyms (inviting MS kids to participate) or camps. After all the HS coach has a family and a day job to deal with as well. You are the one who threw Bradley's name out there. Not me. Sounds like you're stirring the pot.

Were you thoe one who said Ashland should've won a regional title in the past 8 years? Did you criticize him for not attending MS games? If so, then I stand by my post. And is Bradley interested in the job?

A loooooonnnngggg time ago. Times have changed. Kids have much more stuff to occupy their time now. You act like no other school in the region is trying to get better or develop kids. You don't want to admit it, Ashland isn't the top dog, and hasn't been for some time. You guys ran off a very good basketball coach. It appears Smith has/will turn(ed) you down. Stop living in the past. Oh, and just for curiosity's sake, how many MS games will the new coach be required to attend? Just so he knows....

Good thing Dean Smith didn't coach at AShland. Only won two National Championships in 36 years.

I'll bite.....how many? Zero? Next question...what was he supposed to do while there? I admit, it's nice for the HC to show up and be seen, but I know a lot of coaches who "coach their coaches" at the MS level so that there is some familiarity with the system when they get to the HS. Being a high school coach is a year round job if done properly. Add in the mix a family and I'd say he had his hands full. As far as patience...4 region finals in 9 years is pretty solid. You can only PRAY for that type of success from the next coach. And make sure he goes to MS games!!:thumb:

Biggs was winning regional championships before he came to Ashland too. Ashland will never be what it once was because of two things: 1) Parity. Kids are getting to play more year round basketball, and against great competition with good coaching (AAU). and 2) Ashland will never be patient enough with a coach to allow him to build the program from the bottom up. Ashland built their house on proverbial sand when they became so dependent on transfers.

No Ashland has NOT had the team to win the region over the course of Biggs' stay...they've had the SECOND best team (4 times), and the second best team doesn't get to go to Rupp.

If the 16th is so weak, then Ashland is in real trouble. The Rowan championship years and Flemin years were not that weak. Some nice talent on both sides. Which is exactly why it is unrealistic to say "win a region every X number of years or else". Lots of kids concentrate on one sport now and you lose those kids when their sport isn't basketball. Combine that with the other factors I've mentioned and, at least to my thinking, its unreasonable. And another thing, Ashland will NOT find a better X and O guy than Biggs.

Is that you Dickie? :lol: A lot of things have changed in the last 15 years. A lot more kids are playing AAU, coaching is better, and the pipeline of transfers to APB has dried up. The footing is much more equal than in the past. Ashland will not dominate like they have in the past. To say "they have to/should win a regional title every "X" number of years" is not realistic. There are a number of programs ahead of Ashland at this point, and I don't think the climb back will be quick at all.

If that's the standard in the 16th, how many coaches should be fired? Anybody not named Thacker, Baker, Perry, or Adkins should be gone in 8 years I guess. How long has Anderson been at Boyd?

My logic is as solid as yours. I am speaking from what I know, not what I believe. I know officials haven't lost a game IN THE THREE REGIONS I FOLLOW because I asked. I didn't say any of those things NEVER happen, they just NEVER happen in THE THREE REGIONS I FOLLOW. Try to keep up. You , on the other hand, seem to think you have all the answers, and every official is a great one. You think there is nothing wrong with the process. Fair enough. I disagree.
