Scott will be 4A next year.

I believe the thread was asking the question for this year since this years team records were given in order to prove the thread starters point so I would have to say it is Kenton County. I will say when answering the best football county in the past, Campbell is good but Kenton still holds its own. Last time I checked, Beechwood (not sure why they haven't been included in the conversation) is part of Kenton County and they too have several State Championships.

I've seen both teams play in person. At the time I seen Cooper, I felt they were better than Scott but Scott is getting better each week. I still think that if Cooper were injury free I would give the slight edge to them but with injuries I just don't know. The Cooper offense is more diverse and Scotts inability to pass the ball concerns me. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the offense Wooley runs but I do believe Scott has the best and deepest backfield in all of NKY. London and Pleasant are very good.

No one has more respect for Walton than I do but Newport is better, much better. Newport did everything they could to lose that game (3 turnovers and losing an onside kick) and still won by 2 scores. I realize one of your best players got hurt but Newport gave up some easy scores in that first half (Int returned to the 3 yard line). IMO, if that game were played again, the final score wouldn't be as close as the first game.

Well you know having Walton Verona above Newport is just silly. Newport gets no credit for their SOS. As already posted on another thread, Newports opponents are 17-1 this year with that one loss being Walton to Newport. Newport lost in the final seconds against a top 10 3A school on the road that they had to travel to twice, they lost a very competitive game to a top 5 1A school that has mostly everyone back from a state finals team last year. The only game that they were dominated in is a better than average and I believe a top 10 5A team in Scott. I think Newport is better than NCC but I know they are better than Walton. Good news is, just like NCC, Newport is hitting the easy portion of their schedule. I think Newport wins out.

I think the difference between this years NCC team vs last years is that a couple of the 2013 losses were very competitive. 1 point loss to Campbell and a 9 point loss to Cooper. This years team has been pretty much blown out in each game. They haven't kept a game within 2 TD's this year.

Walton gets more votes than Newport? Laughable!

They did a great job on Johnson. He was not a factor at all. Don't get to carried away on "how many more points Scott could have scored", Newport had Scott beat on a few passes that could have been scores for the Wildcats that they just couldn't connect on and Newport gave Scott a very easy TD when Price went back to pass and the ball slipped out of his hand.

Scott dominated. Controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Great effort by the Eagles.

I wish I had as much confidence in Scott as many of you have. I wonder how many of you have actually seen these two teams play this year.

I don't think we can really judge Simon Kentons waterboy at this point. The first three games were against weak opponents therefore the players weren't that thirsty. Kinda hard to get a gauge on him at this point although I do believe he is a top 3 waterboy.

Under the prior coaching staff I knew there were several eligibility issues for some of the players with academics and discipline. I am not aware of any of these issues since the current staff has been here. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with a lot of what you posted. IMO, London is a top 2-3 RB in NKY. Johnson does take plays off but when he wants to be he is unblockable and Scott doesn't have anyone that can block him. Johnson causes lots of trouble up the middle so I don't think Scotts direct snap to the fullback will have much success against Newport. Good news for Scott is they run lots of sweeps and Newport seems to struggle stopping the run out wide. Newport also has a very glaring weakness at one corner position but Scott just doesn't throw the ball enough to take advantage of it. Newport is very big for a 2A school so they will not be overwhelmed by Scotts size. Also, Newport is very physical and has good speed. This should be a good game.

Its not the same Scott line this year. They will have fits with Johnson. Also, Scott does not have more weapons than Newport. Newport has more playmakers than Scott in my opinion but depth is a big question for Newport. Scott will not win this game by 3 TD's. This will be a close game. I give the slight edge to Newport.

Again you are changing the argument to make your point so I am done with this. But to be fair and answer your question, La Salle moved to D2 last season but from my understanding, they have been a D2 sized school for years but chose to play up to D1. Everytime CovCath loses to a Cincinnati school its always because of school size. This argument is getting old.

You are talking in circles and contradicting yourself in an attempt to sound right. You asked which D2 or D3 team would beat CovCath or Highlands. I said La Salle. You then said we aren't talking about individual teams we are talking State vs State. You also said La Salle may be able to beat them this year but you aren't sure they could beat them consistently. I then stated that La Salle has had success beating CovCath consistently in the recent past. You then say you cant use past outcomes to predict the future all the while telling me Highlands was the best team in NKY the years CovCath lost to La Salle. Sorry RCC, you just aren't making sense. CovCath has a very good team this year and I think Moeller loss tells us no different.

La Salle has beaten CovCath badly over the past couple years and those 2 La Salle teams don't come close to this years La Salle team so I would say that's 1 team that can/will/did beat CovCath consistently.

Colerain is young with 8 sophs starting. Trinity should win this one.
