I believe the way it works is the Coach's nominate the players. Is the game in January?

I got out fairly easy! And there were police at the light when we left. Last year we all just hung out in the parking lot and tailgated again until the traffic cleared. I assumed your thread was about the old man that claimed to be the AD that came over and threatened to take away some Black Bear ladies air horns. He kept saying I will get the rule book and show you and someone said LCC fans had them at the game in Harlan and he said and someone took them away. He was very rude, but he is the only rude person I have met in my two trips.

The big stadiums is what I don't like. You know the players enjoy seeing big crowds and Papa Johns just made everything small and in my opinion Louisville is not a central location. I lived in Richmond for a while and think it would be a great place to host, but it's only fair to rotate that way both sides of the state have some traveling to do!

I believe he was a RB for Bell back in the mid 90's. Again that's just what I have heard and maybe it's more like he don't really care for how things are done instead of them not getting along.

The game we played against Perry Central was over in right at or a little past 9:30.

Again just what I have heard, but I have heard that Bell's middle school Coach and Coach Hilton don't exactly see eye to eye. Back to topic, I'm guessing when it comes down to kids not playing football it's a mix between kids not liking a coach for whatever reason, not thinking they are good enough, and parents not taking time to encourage them kids and taking time just to help their kids. I believe our pee wee league will get the numbers up a little in a few years!

I don't believe New Harlan was formed to field a all star team. Evarts and Cumberland are county schools as well. Had the powers that be wanted an all star team their are plenty of players from both schools that would be considered all stars. There is no way one middle school out of New Harlans schools could field a team. Evarts has Black Mountain and Cumberland is the biggest middle school in the county.

This thread was started because a statement was made in the Harlan Co./Bell game thread that Bell was better for numerous reasons one being they just have one middle school and played better together!

Tucker Lewis wasn't starting at LB for HC and clogging up the middle either. Seems like when SW wasn't running kick offs or punts back they were breaking big plays up the middle. He should make a difference in the middle.

The New Harlan Patriots used to be Cawood which was Hall and Cawood and West Harlan which were Rosspoint, Wallins, and Green Hills. If you ever see them practice the uniforms from those two teams are their practice uniforms. I can remember when most of the schools in the county had a football team and Loyall was still a school. The one advantange I see to having one team is that they all know each other and mostly like one another. With three teams I can see some kids not getting along because they come from Cumberland, Evarts, and New Harlan. But Coach Larkey has blended our boys together perfectly so far and with him being as involved as he is with our middle schools I'm sure he will continue.

I've been hoping for that move most of the season. Not every play but I would be nice to have him out there just as a different look and approach. Seems like McMillan runs with his head down a lot. This way he has to keep his head up and watch for the ball. And I've heard Coach complain about not hitting the hole hard this may get around that as well. Marcus runs hard if he puts on some muscle and wieght he will be a fine RB, if not he will be a fine WR! The Maggard kid is looking pretty good at WR too! Go Bears!!!

The Black Bears Defense has really developed over the course of the season. I would rather not have any but three bad games are better than 3 or 4. If we can work just a little passing game in with our running game I believe we will be fine! I'm going with the Black Bears 21-14. Go Bears!!!

Is it better to have 1 middle school feeding your High School team or multiple??? Harlan County has 3: New Harlan (which is made up of 5 middleschools), Cumberland, and Evarts. What do you all think and what do you have???

I'm with 3 wishes the more kids playing the better! How many middle schools makes up Letcher Central and/or Bell. Seems like a few schools and 1 team don't provide much playing time, a kid may not be so good in 5th/6th and never get a change to improve (blossom) never getting to play. I will start a thread and we will see what people have to say.

Not taking anything away from Bell, but our Black Bears didn't really keep their heads in the game and credit Bell for doing things that got to them. That 3rd and 20 on their first possession that turned into a long run took a chunk of our enthusiasm, spirit whatever you want to call and then the fumble just sunk us! I believe had they kept their heads in it the game could have been respectable.

Bell is just better than us. We couldn't stop them on the outside, we done pretty well up the middle but then they would take the next play outside and hardly get touched! That plus stupid penalties equals a loss. Good crowd for the first game of this new rivalry! Playoff time!

On another site I was ask if I really thought Bell would score only 16. And I used the knox/bell 19-15 playoff game last year as an example of Bell not scoring 60 against a close rival.

I have seen refs warn home teams when they play music over the PA while the game was going on or right before the snap. I was told by a ref once that once the whistle blows there can be no band or PA music.

I think he has some sophisticated jump drive that he uses every once in a while to download info from his brain! Then when we ask a question he plugs it in (you can't see it because he don't really need glasses he just wears them to hide his usb port behind his ear! He's like a mountain sports Clark Kent) and he has the answer! If this isn't true I can't explain his knowledge. Oh yeah that notebook he carries around is not a real notebook it is a cushioned case to carry the jump drive and keep it safe!

Black Bears 18 Bobcats 16 I'm basing this on the Knox/Bell game last year. A lot goes out the window with a rivalry.

Harlan County 30 bell County 28 Both teams playing for bragging rights! This may end some friendships! Most of these boys have been playing against each other since the 5th grade, makes for a good rivalry. Go Bears!!! :popcorn:
