But is has been built and it is an issue. Unlike "the Crystal Palace" the HCHS gym was built to have the capibility to host district and regional tournaments and is a member school. With respect to "the Breezes" comments, we did build the school for educational purposes, but I am betting if we knew we would never have the chance to host a regional tournament, the possibility exist that the gym might have been smaller. I'm sorry if my comments offend anyone, but it is a bit offensive to us to even hear discussion on this topic. We see communities like London, Corbin, Somerset get all of this political financial support for the upbuilding of their communities, much of it comming from coal severance dollars, then someone comes up with the bright idea that the one event we get host every 7 or 8 years to showcase our community and school should be moved to Corbin. Sorry but I'm just not down with it.:taz:

All of this Arena talk is a bunch rubbish. We build a facility capable of hosting this tournament and after the fact of us spending millions of dollars on such facility, someone has the bright idea to centralize the location? Not in my lifetime if I have anything to do with (and I probably will not...lol). If The Arena had never been built this would not even be an issue. Our school was planned and construction began before "The Crystal Palace" was ever considered. The people of Harlan County, our facility, our economy, our taxpayers, and our kids deserve the opportunity to host this tournament and we will not stand for this EVER. How about this for a plan...Draw a line in through the center of the region. The schools in that end that have not the facilities, either rotate contract with other schools or The Arena to host, and Pineville & Harlan (if they so choose) rotate contracting with Bell Co., Middlesboro and Harlan County or The Arena.

Yeah, ask Cumberland about sick in 85. Had Clay beat in the Regional and got two technical fouls late called on a statatician. Talked to Coach Keith at Patsy's one day a few years ago about that game... Speaking of coach Keith and Patsy's...it was really something to watch him during lunch in there. Talk about 1 man having the attention of the whole resturant....man him and that place was/is classic Kentucky HS Basketball. I have not been there in a few years. I hope that place is still open.:thumb:

Actually....and I really have to laugh about this...some of our fans were at your game too, at least initially. Even Paid admission...LOL. Good Job Jumpers!

Um...didn't them winning make them the best team?:idunno: LOL I think a lot of people overlooked their talent that year. They didn't get it done early, but as you said upset several on thier way. They probably was not the most talented team in 13 that year, but I have to disagree with 5th or 6th. Creech & Haynes were exceptional athletes.

Oh yeah! I almost forgot...It would be good to hear from some of the Somerset faithful on this game.

LOL @ Moma Bear! Everybody's feeling the love! I'm gonna say something here...Thie team has came a long way, no doubt. We have the right people in the right positions and a coaching staff doing a good job. But I'm gonna tell you right now...the HC fan base was HUGE in this game. When I first walked about in 7:00pm there were probably about 15 people on the HC side and I thought to myself "wow! we didn't travel very well tonight". But as game time grew near HC's side filled up and absolutely was a factor in this game! Good Job Bears Fans. I expect to see a HUGE LOUD crowd at LCC next week.

HE is a very good player with a serious set of wheels. I would love to see Harlan County Freshmen and JV play some of the Northern KY teams. They are pretty good by our standards, but would love to see thme compete against the elite. I guess we know more when they play Bell Co.

Just for fun...since linemen have been brought into this...Does anyone remember what Caudill and Robertson ran in their combine? I do 4.88 and 4.76...and it might suprise you who ran the 4.76.

He is not as fast as Jones and He's not as fast as Cole, BUT he weighs 230lbs. For his size he has good speed. Simmons, Gilliam, and Smith all have above average speed at the HS level, none caught him...all night for that matter. They weigh 150. I am with 5Wide on this...It's not just about Fugate. BTW word I got is that he timed 4.55. That came from one of Breathitt's biggest supporters. I concede. UK will live on without Fugate.

Warrior being from Harlan County I would think you would have seen first hand what Fugate is capable of. Did you miss the play on his second touchdown against HCHS when they threw him a screen to the short side and he took it 80 yards untouched. I believe we had three kids in on that play that ran in the 4.5 range that couldn't catch him. As for comparing UK to UL, I can't ever remember a kid from eastern KY just dying to go to Louisville. Fugate wanted to play for Kentucky. Not to worry though, Im sure we can loose the next 4 or 5 to Tennesse or Florida without him. I may be kicking a dead horse but I was a Kentucky fan before you were born and I have seen too many times UK give no look to a kid from east KY, the heartbeat of their fan base I might add. It may or may not work out for Fugate at Tennessee, but one thing is for sure...I be happy for him every good play he makes including the ones against UK. :thumb:

UK was well aware of Fugate's interest. ALL UK had to do was offer a scholarship and tell him he had a shot at playing RB. But with all the starpower they have at that position, I guess they really believed he had no shot to play. :idunno:

I assure you there will be some orange pop up in East Ky over this just like it did a couple of years ago in Mason County. Kentucky not recruiting this kid makes me sick to my stomach. I have talked to a lot of people about this from all over this end of the state and ALL have the same opinion, and it's not good. We stick with UK through everything, probably 70 straight losses to the Power T before my lifetime is over, and our (and the kids) reward when a favorite son like Fugate comes through, is no interest from the UK. I am diehard UK as they come, but I have a feeling Eastern KY is going to have a hard time getting over this, and that's not good for UK given the amount of $$ that comes from this area. IMHO KY would have been far better off to take a chance on Fugate than to endure the fall out of not offering him......

I saw Blaine Green play Monday. He looks very solid. Looks to have put on some weight in the off season.

It is probably the best Aerospace institution in the nation. I have a son that is an AE/ME dual major at WVU who always wanted to go there. What a killer educational opportunity for this kid.

JR I agree with everything you are saying, especially the last sentence. I'm not trying to call Les out. I'm just standing up for a man I think was let go the wrong way, if of course what I was told is true.

Generally, when attempts to reach an individual in a breaking story like this are unseccessful it is noted in the article. I don't think I remember reading that in this particular instance. I may end up proven wrong on this, if so it will be acknowleged on the board, but I stand by what I posted.
