Just talked to a friend that was at the game. He said the Russell girls have some solid talent and they are in fact "turning the corner".They beat a very physical and scrapy Elliott team despite a high number of turnovers. They had several girls make some big shots including a 3 by a freshman with 45 seconds on the clock and a pair of freebies by Parsley to put it away. They are definately improving.

Other than getting beat , why would the Elliott folks be upset ?

Out of sorts ? That ain't even close !! They have two of the best inside players in the sixteenth region and the team can't buy a game. If you watched them play you would see why. They will never run what the coach wants them to. They are better players than their record !!

From what I hear the Lady Devils are having a hard time doing what the new coach wants. Their D is supposed to be pretty good, but they ain't making it on the other end. So it will probably be a blow out by Boyd county. Some parents are very unhappy that the Devils are not playing to their strengths. They were warned about this last year but as usual they didn't listen. They are in for a very long season.

Well, the Cards sure do have room for improvement , and will be a solid team by mid season. The early foul calls were mostly deserved. The Cards looked a little rusty. For those of you that don't like Elliott your probably going to like them even less before this year is over . They are the real deal, and they will be deep into the state finals (barring injuries) before its over.They play very well together and are a joy to watch.

Just got wind that the girls didn't scrimmage last night and there were some "not so happy" parents with things that transpired. Is it fact or fiction ? What really happened ?

I was on the phone with a person that attended and was told they actually looked pretty good. And to expect them to show improvement early in the season. GOOD for them , they deserve a break. I'll be driving up next week to watch the Humphrey clan , so I'll have first hand after that. On another note ,apperantly the girls did not scrimmage and there were some "not so happy" parents !! Little bit of speculation from people down this way ! Whats the verdict from The Devils people ? Who is the official assistant ? How many girls will be returning ? Do they have guards or not ?

I don't see anyone in the 16th playing with Elliott Co. this year . They will plow through the 16th like a wild John Deere through three week old corn.

If they made a legit move he should play !! Section H-3 needs to be changed PERIOD.:thumb:

You expect that in the paint but you shouldn't need a helmet and shoulder pads in the open court.

Well I'm not sure it equated to half the game but I didn't see anyone coming back up the floor to help. There was only one strong player on the floor for the Devils and that was Simpson. I wouldn't expect an eighth grader to handle that kind of pressure by herself against a team like Rowan had last year.

I'm not close to their program but I know two of their coaches from years ago. I just happened to be at Rowan co. when they played and also watched them on down the road a little further last year. I think they got hatchet-ized in the first game with Rowan . Rowan played very physical and got away with a lot of hands and pushing, but they were clearly the better team. I think the Devils just need to get two or three of their players to step up and work hard this season and by the end of the season they should be fine.

What happened to the two young girls that played some last year ? The taller one I beleive is a 2 guard , and the other one a point guard. They both looked like pretty good ball handlers to me. I'm thinking they were both 8th graders last year ?? Simpson is a super ball player and IMO should play more inside. The Parsley girl is also a very good player but doesn't handle the ball as well outside and gets shoved under the backboard out of position way to much. I only saw 2 games last year and maybe the refs should call the pushing more , but she seemed to have a hard time holding her position. One of the girls that played outside didn't shoot much and when she did her form was not very good but she had some runouts and was very quick. I think her name was Fergeson ??

We all also know the family first and formost made a bona fied move of necessity . Some of us beleive this is all that should be required, and after such move they should be able to choose where they want to go to school for what ever reason they choose ! This is America isn't it ? The KHSAA rules should not be such that you cannot select a school of your choice after you move into any area for the sake of employment and providing for your family. It again shouldn't matter who the AAU coaches are. AAU does not answer to KHSAA.

Rowan , Ashland , and Raceland should be the front runners , and probably in that order. Russell will take some lumps early but they have an outside chance of being in the hunt by the time the 16th tournament kicks off.

I completely agree with you on this one. Section H-3 should not be under bylaw 6 . It should be a stand alone bylaw that does not apply when a move is necessary such as it clearly is in this case. H-3 was not thought out before it was put under bylaw 6. The real question they should look at in this case is , was it a bona fied move of necessity ? The KHSAA should do whatever is needed to make him eligible.:thumb:

I do understand how it is all supposed to work. With that many people governing KHSAA that's all the more reason this rule (H-3) should never have been attached to Bylaw 6. As I said , if they are going to use H-3 it should be a stand alone rule applying only to those that move solely for sports reasons. It should have no influence on a bona fied move of necessity to any school of choice. Just because any board or legislature has approved anything does not in fact make it right, or even legal for that matter. I think due process will win out in this case IF it is challenged to the end.

I guess it's ok to pick your school, you just can't say why ? Obviously the KHSAA has had training from the school of moronic science ! There is nothing wrong with bylaw 6 as it requires a "bona fide change of residence" , however when section H-3 is used in tandem with it , it becomes unreasonable. IMO section H-3 should be removed from bylaw 6. As long as the student has met the requirement outlined in the first part of bylaw 6 , the latter should not apply. Section H-3 should be a "stand alone" rule if it is going to be used.............. Send Euton and Jackson to GRC , they don't want to play there !

You can bet that if Euton were # 15 on the bench and his dad said to the press"my son is not very good ,but he wants to be on that bench, and I have to move anyway for a job" NOTHING would be said, except by #16s dad whos son didn't make the team!!

Since he plays basketball, lets assume that is to be included as a part of his attending Scott Co. In reference to unconstitutional , that applied to bylaw 6 setion h-3 , Not his enrollment. If his parents want to dig in for a legal battle, I think they can win !!

So if he can't play , do you think he will stay ?
