  1. Any idea what those budgets are? Just curious as to how much funding a high level team receives.
  2. Could the Travelers have won the 16U State tournament?
  3. Does anyone know why the Travelers played in 17U instead of 16U? I would have thought if they had a few 15U players on their team they would have played in 16U. I assume the 15U players you are talking about are 16 year olds? It seems as most of the stronger players in 15U are already 16 years old, stronger players in 16U are 17 years old, etc. Most are able to play at those levels based on grade.
  4. Probably a better situation for him. I would rather play on an elite team at my age level, than a grade up team that may not be as strong. He is a nice player for sure. Each parent/player needs to do what is right for their own child.
  5. Rumor is Tre Hill just left the 16U Travelers to join the 15U Louisville Magic. This will improve their team for sure. Did he not like playing for the Travelers? How did the 16U Travelers do this weekend?
  6. Who team does Adam Goetz play AAU on? I didn't know much of him last year until the regional tournament. I was impressed with him there.
  7. Here are some stats from KHSAA scoreboard McNeil 51%-2pt 48.7%-3pt 84%-ft 5.7-rebounds Weyer 65%-2pt 44%-3pt 72%-ft 7.3-rebounds CVH 54%-2pt 25%-3pt 86%-ft 2.2-rebounds Snapp 37%-2pt 33%-3pt 81%-ft 3.9-rebounds McClendon 47%-2pt 38%-3pt 77%-ft 2.2-rebounds Geotz no stats shown for his team I'm sure there will be a few surprises that are not mentioned in this conversation. I will say Weyer's stats are much stronger than I thought. Stats don't lie. With his size I would say he will be the probably the most recruited out of this group. McNeil will probably be the next highest recruited. Size gives these two a big advantage if you are talking about D1/D2 next level athlete's. Also, it's hard to tell with some players how good they are going to be. Some have not had as good of players around them for their team to reach as high of goals. It's easier to get good looks and open shots when you have a lot of other teammates that can also score. It is much harder when you are being face guarded every game. All are good players that play hard every night. Fun to watch.
  8. It will be exciting to watch it all play out. Who is gonna breakout. Who will be the next big star. I love basketball season. It hasn't been over long and I already can't wait for it to start back up.
  9. Not tearing down anyone. All these boys are very good high school players. Most of them will play college at some level. Time will tell which level. Weyer probably has the best build to play at a higher level. With that being said, he will not be playing inside at that level IMO. Thus he will need to improve his outside game. Right now IMO I believe McNeil and CVH are better perimeter players. The thread said 2016 9th region. Based on that if you made a list of ten items, rebounding, outside shooting, attacking the rim, defending the post, guarding on the perimeter, basketball IQ, physical strength, ability to play above the rim, assists (making his teammates better) passer. Then rate each players strengths on a scale from 1-10. I believe IMO that McNeil is the most well rounded player with the least amount of weaknesses. Not knocking on any other kid. My opinion! At the end of the day they are all solid players. McNeil, Weyer, CVH, Geotz, Snapp, etc. and we will have to wait until next season to see who is going to have a breakout season. Time will tell.
  10. Not on any day of the week. Weyer is a good player, but other than his size, (which he doesn't use) McNeil is better at every other aspect of the game. Weyer will need to work on his outside game to compete at any next level. And I'm sure he will do that. He is a very nice high school player right now. I feel as if he will transition into a nice college player also.
  11. Clyde I agree. It would be fun to watch. We don't always get to see the best players go at each other. Most coaches don't allow their best players to guard the opposing teams best player for fear of foul trouble (good coaching). Thanks again Clyde for your input. I know you see a lot of games. I respect your thoughts.
  12. Clyde, thanks for the input. Again everyone has their own opinions and that is great. I love to hear peoples thoughts. Makes for Great conversation. With that being said: I don't think CVH guards better than Sean. Sean can defend the post or a guard which makes him much more versatile. CVH is more known for face guarding with no concern for anyone else but one player. That is easy defense. I don't believe one on one CVH, Weyer, or Snapp could stop Sean. Sean is much bigger and stronger than CVH or Snapp. Guard him with a guard and he will post you up, guard him with a big and he will take you outside. I do agree CVH probably has the best first step I have seen in the 9th as he is deadly from mid range. Very nice pull up of the dribble. Sean finishes at the rim as good, probably better. Again, he is bigger and stronger taking it to the rim. Plays above the rim when needed. The only other one in this conversation that can play above the rim is Weyer. I feel Weyer is a very good basketball player, but he would be last on this list with ball handling away from the basket. The other the all have solid handles. Weyer obviously has the edge on size in this group. McNeil is the best rebounder of the guards in this group. If I'm not mistaken he lead Coopers team in rebounding tis season. Not bad for a guard. Snapp is a true scorer. Would love to see him with a better supporting cast. May never get to see just how good he is in high school due to him being face guarded every single night. Again, all around player. Rebounding, posting, shooting the deep 3, getting to the rim, shooting percentage, assists (making his teammates better), ability to be versatile on the defensive end (guard big or small), ability to play outside or inside effectively, physical size, and athletic ability. Sean is the most well rounded player of the group. Not knocking on any of the other players at all. I just feel like McNeil is a very good player and doesn't get the respect he deserves. I like CVH, Weyer, Snapp, and McNeil. They all are deserving of any attention they get. They have worked hard for everything they get. Again, I enjoy the insight and respect the views of others. Not always are we all going to agree, but that's ok too.
  13. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I totally respect that. But could you please enlighten me why you feel that way? If you don't want to elaborate I will respect that also. I don't believe either one of those players are stronger than McNeil at any form of their game. I like them both (CVH & Snapp), and they are good players. Neither could stop McNeil. I just don't see anything they do, at any aspect of their game that is better than Sean McNeil.
  14. McNeil is hands down the best player in the 9th, and second isn't even close. Very underrated player, but I look for that to change this year. He has all the tools. Lights out jump shot. Good size 6-3 or taller, strong kid. Rebounds well. Can play above the rim. Extremely high basketball IQ. Great court vision, and decision making. Doesn't force anything, lets the game come to him. Very unselfish player who makes his teammates better whenever he is on the floor. Always working hard, and has a great attitude. Anyone who has coached him, or played with him knows how good this kid is.
  15. Kentucky Premier has a really nice program and do a great job. I know in the past couple years they have added younger teams also. They play an elite schedule for sure. With that being said, I would still love to see them compete at every age level for the State AAU tournament if it doesn't conflict with another elite tournament. I think it would be nice to have all the elite teams competing for a true elite state tournament champion. There's a lot of talent across the state. It would be nice to see it all in the gym competing. Just my thought, to each their own. Each program is going to do what they feel is in their best interest.
  16. It frustrates me when "elite" programs proclaim themselves as the TOP programs in the state on both the boys and the girls side. But they never play in the State tournament to prove it. Is it because its easier to claim that title than prove it? Or do they look at the state title as they have nothing to gain and everything to lose? It's easy to say your the best in the state when you don't go to the state tournament and prove it. I just think all the elite programs (boys/girls) should play the state tournament. Then we can see who is the best. As they always say "talk is cheap".
  17. Covington Catholic PG-Ruthsatz 2G-CVH, Fredrick SF-Flood, Lay PF-Mayer, Ziegelmeyer C-Heppler, Walter (6-8") and getting better everyday Several other talented freshman to be sophomores that can play. CCH will be very deep
  18. I really thought Cooper had a really good chance of winning the region. Congrats to St. Henry on what I would consider an upset.
  19. Impressive! Has he improved his outside game , or does he just dominate around the basket? I know he is a great player. I've seen him play in the past. Haven't got to see him play this year. Was just wondering if he has improved his outside game. He will certainly play at the next level. Kid works hard and is crazy athletic. Hoping to get to see him at one of the region games. Good luck to Owen moving forward
  20. They should be fine. They will be well rested coming out of the cup cake district they have. Almost an automatic trip to the region every year.
  21. CCH is the best team in the region right now. They have proved that. I love how hard they play. They get after you for 32 minutes with no let down. CVH, BO, Flood, and Cooper T are really getting it done. Then they have others that may not score as much, but play great defense and rebound the heck out of the ball. CCH is deeper than Cooper right now. Especially with McNeal and Dickerson out. I believe this would be a very close game had them two played for Copper. I have seen McNeal play on several different occasions and he was the best player in the gym last night (Even though he didn't play, if he were playing). Face guard him or not, you aren't going to shut him down. Very solid player, lights out shooter, attacks the rim well, excellent court vision, and great basketball IQ. Good luck to both teams moving forward. Should be a great tournament!
  22. I would put it this way. Coach Clinkenbeard has a great staff. He has been known to not show teams everything. If WV does not beat Simon in the Districts it will at least be a very close game. Don't be surprised if this loss was not the old rope a dope.
