No - Frasure and Jolly do not play football. The others do but I agree with papa that shouldn't really play into things at this point.

Congrats to the Lady Panthers. Seems crazy to travel all the way to Florida to play a team that we could have just traveled up the AA to meet up with but I guess thats just the way it worked out. Glad to see a W for the ladies.

Another good post! I don't know alot about the Mason Co. situation you talk about but I agree with much of what you have to say. I know the Fleming Co. staff and the girls work very very hard. I just think you should try to foster groups of girls instead of always pulling up young ones. You are right though, girls are different. They have alot going on and many quit for various reasons or just lose interest. I guess if you get one or two that does not get burnt out from being pushed hard early you have to stick with them and develop their talent. In reality the two situations seem quite different, I know our coach cares alot about her players. I simply like to see Fleming Co. compete well in all sports and it seems like we are always rebuilding or wait until next year etc...

That was a nice post. I could have typed almost the exact same thing pertaining to Fleming Co. I know they work really hard and I don't want to be too critical, but people that are not in the know would be shocked at the number of players and talent etc... that played in middle school/aau... In the last several years... that have since quit. Even though there are always some promising young talent on the horizon you cannot constantly keep knocking everyone else aside and pick faves without at some point hurting the program.

78-69 Williamstown over Bracken. Fairview also defeated Lawrence Co. 71-60. Estill Co. and Russell Co. are playing as I type but I don't have any updates.

I'm not 100% but the Rogers is probably Charlie (Robelle's little brother). I remember him from the Fleming Co. youth leagues. Not sure about his basketball skills at this point but he was a very good youth football player.

Corey didn't even play organized basketball until the 7th grade at Fleming Co. I am shocked at how far he has come. He seems to be playing very well. I agree that he could be one of the tops in the state before long. It was a big loss for Fleming but I wish him well. I don't remember him having any older brothers but he has two younger ones that could turn into pretty good footballers as well!

I don't have any detailed stats... Fleming was up 16-5 after the 1st period and Campbell started to heat up for Nicholas. Campbell ended up with 26 for Nicholas and Josh Gray led Fleming with 20.

Yes, he is an assistant coach with the boys and he is also coaching the middle school girls.

Fleming Co. did have an 8th grader get some minutes last year in Travis Taylor. I would assume he will see some action as a freshman this year as well. I don't think Ryan Taylor is playing this year.

Mr. Woods was my high school principal until he retired after my junior year. I wouldn't call him mean but we took him serious and respected his word and authority (come to think of it I was always just a tad bit scared of him). We always heard stories about his exploits coaching and playing basketball and had to have our parents verify because we just couldn't believe it at the time. He could still knock down some free throws in the gym as well. I had several opportunities to play golf with him in later years at scrambles and get togethers at the club. He was a fine man and although I have good memories of him I hated to hear the news.
