Fleming Co. wins the 61st District title.

Rowan seems to be playing really well as of late. Don't think we will see a blowout like the early season game thats for sure.

Fleming Co. won this ballgame. I don't remember the final score, I think FC won by about 6-8.

Nice job Panthers. :clap: I felt like Fleming would play well but wasn't going as far as making any bold predictions. They have some nice athletes and are capable on any given night. Coach Kelly is doing some good things from what I have seen and has the boys playing really hard.

Wow! Bracken has really stepped it up. I thought Nicholas was playing pretty well, and figured the score to be a bit closer.

No doubt! Kind of like looking back in time, if Rex had the wild hair going on.

Even though Fleming Co. eventually pulled away for about a 20 pt. win Campbell poured in around 40 on them as well. Nice player!

Correction- Now that I think about it, I believe it was the big for Wolfe that dunked on the breakaway. With that said the guard was still very good.

Quick update on the 8th grade team from Fleming Co. They are 9-0 on the young season with as expected easy wins locally/conference, and a couple of good wins at tournys/panoramas. They have wins over: St. Pat, Nicholas Co., St. Pius, Conner, Bracken Co, Deming, Wolfe Co, Rowan Co and Coinkwright. Where did this team from Wolfe Co. come from? I have been watching the Fleming Co. boys since 2nd grade AAU/travel etc.. and had never seen them. They have some nice players. Especially the guard who is very quick, has good handles, can stroke the 3, and easily threw one down on a breakaway. Fleming had to fight back and pull it out at the end. Just wondering if anyone knew much about Wolfe, they looked like a nice team. Conner was very good as well but I was somewhat familiar with them.

I don't know any names, but the big man down low (#14) was impressive. Overall they did have good size, and like I said earlier played very hard and seemed well coached.

Fleming Co. is a small school that just happened to have several good athletes born around the same time. Overall they are small but all positions play a little bigger than actual height. Everyone can handle the ball and shoot fairly well. They have no holdbacks but have played together in some form (travel ball / AAU) since 2nd grade. I think they have one of the best guards in the state in Darion Burns, but on any given night someone else is capable of stepping up.

I was there to watch Fleming Co. 8th but got the chance to watch most of five 8th grade games. Mason Co. defeated RA Jones (big) Fleming Co. defeated St. Pius (around 20) Ockerman defeated G. Angels (overtime) Mason Co. defeated Campbell Co. (close for awhile, Mason pulled away late) Fleming Co. defeated Conner (good game, around 5 pts) Looks like you guys have a nice competitive league up there.

Watched some pretty good basketball today at the Erlanger Middle School Classic (8th grade). I was impressed with the Conner 8th grade team, they are a scrappy bunch that plays hard.

Don't know if anyone will see this in time to help me out, but here it goes. Simons Middle School (Fleming Co.) plays in the Erlanger Middle School Classic today. The schedule I have has Fleming 8th playing at Scheben? The other sites listed are Tichenor and Lloyd which I have heard of. Where is Scheben? We play at 3:00 against St. Pius and at 6 against Conner. Any help on the location would be appreciated.

No, I don't believe Josh Gray is related to David at all. I assume you are talking about David Gray who played baseball at Fleming and MSU. David has sons but they are younger (around 6th and 7th grade).

I also want to congratulate Steven "Scuba" Mitchell on his touchdown. The 300+ big boy lived every linemans dream by scooping up a loose ball and rumbling for a TD (and looked good doing it). He almost did the same thing in the opener at Nicholas but they were finally able to bring him down. I coached Scuba in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade football and he is one of my all-time favorite players and kids. He always wanted to run the ball in pee-wee football but because of our weight limit on ball carriers never got the chance. I love the effort he is showing on the field and I'm very proud of him! Also, I agree with Ram for the most part on his critique of the officiating. They are pretty much a mess. I'm not sure on the safety though. I am not 100% clear on the HS rules but the QB appeared to be in the grasp or being brought down by a Fleming defender as he threw the ball to avoid the sack. The ball did fall near a Raceland receiver but could that have been some kind of "in the grasp" rule, since the QB was still in the tacklebox area? Not sure when the facemask occured but it sure confused the crew as did several other calls etc...

I believe that #23 is Dugan. Gray is #24. They are both crazy athletic. Gray is all over the field on defense. I like the way the Panthers are headed but we need to find a way to get those two the ball more often. Congrats to the Panthers and good luck to the Rams the rest of the way.

I believe I was the same. Looks like we shared the field. I do remember the games were played during the school day and the entire school was released to watch the game. We had a short series with Raceland during my high school playing days as well. I know we played the 83/84 and 84/85 seasons. I'm not sure how long Raceland/Fleming played after I graduated but I remember them being a well coached hard nosed team in the early/mid 80's.

I played with Greg. Although not huge in size he was the hardest hitter I was ever around - He would knock you silly. I also participated in the Mckell middle school games. We won at Mckell my 7th grade year, and lost at home my 8th grade year. Those were some hard hitting games. I remember eating lunch with the students from Mckell, I think we had chili. Good Times!
