Alot of good teams in the state this year. Any big regular season tourneys?

All of Clinton County's 7th and 8th grade ballers(langford, davis, dalton) will be at the high school this year. Probably will not even participate in the middle school state at the 7th or 8th grade levels. Clinton 6th will be strong and will make the trip to lexington.

I hate to hear that. We always have a big time for those couple of weekends in February. Our kids are not playing up as of right now. We had 3 starters to stay back in the 7th grade.

The middle school basketball season is getting ready to start. For some it already has. Wayne Co. 6/7/8th defeated Cumberland Co. this past Tuesday. 6th by 9, 7th by 20+, and 8th by 10+.

Johnson County doesn't even start tryouts til Wednesday.

My son has been practicing with the Hoptown Middle School team for a while now. They did several weeks of conditioning and went undefeated last weekend at a jamboree in Calloway County.

Most teams do not start until mid November. Here are some teams that will be starting their season in the next few weeks.

South Laurel: opens with Page Middle on Nov. 3 and then Jackson Co. Nov. 5.

North Laurel: Open with Williamsburg on Nov. 12

Southern (Southwestern Pulaski): Opens with McCreary Co. Nov. 12

Meece (Somerset): opens with South Laurel on Nov. 16 (I think)

He is in 6th grade and will probably see limited action on the HMS 7th grade team.

 

HMS 7th grade defeated Benton Middle School 51-18 and Lone Oak 52-15.

HMS 8th grade defeated Benton 68-26, St. Mary's 48-31 and Lone Oak 55-38.

A lot of teams started their season last night. Southern went to McCreary last night and won 6, 7, and 8th all by 30+. Southern is 1-0 on the season. South Laurel had home games vs Barbourville. 7th and 8th won. I don't know about the 6th. S. Laurels's record for both 7 and 8 goes to 5-0.

Quick update on the 8th grade team from Fleming Co. They are 9-0 on the young season with as expected easy wins locally/conference, and a couple of good wins at tournys/panoramas. They have wins over: St. Pat, Nicholas Co., St. Pius, Conner, Bracken Co, Deming, Wolfe Co, Rowan Co and Coinkwright. Where did this team from Wolfe Co. come from? I have been watching the Fleming Co. boys since 2nd grade AAU/travel etc.. and had never seen them. They have some nice players. Especially the guard who is very quick, has good handles, can stroke the 3, and easily threw one down on a breakaway. Fleming had to fight back and pull it out at the end. Just wondering if anyone knew much about Wolfe, they looked like a nice team. Conner was very good as well but I was somewhat familiar with them.

Correction- Now that I think about it, I believe it was the big for Wolfe that dunked on the breakaway. With that said the guard was still very good.

Walton Verona has started their season with wins over Carroll Co. and Gallatin Co. Both the 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams are looking very solid.

Southern (Southwestern Pulaski) 8th grade improved their record to 4-0 with wins over Meade Co., Green Co., and Campbellsville in the Campbellsville Tournament.

Great early season game between two highly regarded 7th grade teams, Southern Pulaski and South Laurel, at Adair Co. tournament today. South Laurel pulled away at the end to win, but excellent players on both of these teams. The big boy for South Laurel was a horse down low.
