  1. There are no freshmen on the freshmen team. The only three freshmen players in the program are playing strictly jv and varsity
  2. Mason County will not be utilizing the three 8th graders that play up on the jv and varsity at the freshmen tournament tomorrow. They have not played for Coach Butlers freshmen team all season and in years past I don't believe Mason County brings down any players that have not participated with a team for the entire season just for tournament time. Mason's freshmen team to my knowledge consist of 7th and 8th graders.
  3. Mason County by 15. D. Miller, please take more than 7 shots in a game. Posterize someone tonight so we can put the kid from St. Patrick that was in the picture away from last year.
  4. Couldn't ask for anything more at "The Lady Royals Gymnasium" on the Earl D. Jones Court. I thought the eighth grader Katilyn Smith had a great night. She is going to be a great one down the road.
  5. I have never argued the point of home court advantage, I can't believe people still can't agree that the better team wins on the given night.
  6. Better team wins, plain and simple. Advantage can factor in, but advantage is not the deciding factor in the end. The scoreboard is which will tell you the final score. The winner is the better team that night!
  7. To nail down Senior Night last night in comparison to years past was a little different. In years past there hasn't been a recognition quite the same with the 3 seniors in regards to what they meant to a program like Chambers, Cline, and Litzinger. There hasn't been a all time leading scorer in Mason County history recognized in years past. In years past the choir has performed My Kentucky Home and The National Anthem and last night Mary Middleton did them both which I might add she can hit a note like no other.....and finally last night was unlike years past where there was a tremendous crowd in the house! Where in the heck have all you guys been all season? Lets see you over at Montgomery County Saturday night in the much anticipated matchup of the regular season. Game time is 7:30 as a reminder!
  8. Sounds like some schools can get away with this without any controversy amongst the parents, and the players. This has to create some bad harmony when you pull players down that don't normally play a freshmen schedule just to play in a tournament. I know this is perfectly legal to do, just the fairness has to factor in towards the kids that would normally play a freshmen schedule and a freshmen schedule only.
  9. St. Patrick plays Scott High Saturday night, I would still suspect that the same girls will play earlier that day in the tournament at Pendleton County, especially since Coach Douglas coaches all teams at St. Patrick.
  10. Word on the streets of Maysville, is that Downing is available. Ooops, that sounds like Coach G in Lexington. He will play, look for the Royals to come with some fire in their belly tommorrow night. Mason by 14.
  11. I know there is no rule against freshmen who play jv or varsity to play freshmen basketball. What I can't understand is why would a player play all three?
  12. I can honestly say I don't care about court advantage when it comes to the NBA and to the ones that make millions, I doubt they care as well:lol:
  13. If they have them to bring back down from the varsity you can probably expect to see some freshmen from the varsity teams playing this weekend. There is no rule that says you can't play those freshmen by bringing them off the varsity. St. Patricks Mosler, will she be playing? She plays JV and Varsity along with the freshmen team. I am thinking she is hurt, correct?
  14. Like Fraysure says, you don't lose credibility by having a opinion. I also said that Downing is the best on ball defender for Mason County. Darius Miller would not guard Stull and that is what I made reference to in a earlier post on page 1 of this thread. Downing would have had the assignment last night and there is no way Stull scores 22 if that happens. That is not a knock on Stull, but certain things would be different. Stull is a nice player but not a 22 point guy for the Indians. Downing draws the assignment on the perimeter player that has the ball the most and in this case it would be Stull. I don't care about what rivals.com says about Darius, I know what he is capable of on the floor and don't need to refer to a .com to know how special of a player he is on both sides of the ball. I have seen that over the past seasons of watching the kid come through the program. Darius Miller is not in this equation....and the dude part....nice!
  15. Warmups doesn not equal game play, and the intensity the kid brings. In essence, how can a spectator know how the kid feels. The right decision was made, and this time taken to heal will be good for the player. Winning without him is a huge sign of positives to come.
  16. Keith Downing is Mason's best on ball defender. If you disagree with that, then you have not watched him play very much this season.
  17. Keith Downing is the straw that stirs the drink for Mason County. He is their best on ball defender, grabs alot of long rebounds, dives on the floor for loose balls, handles the ball against the press, and usually guards the other teams est perimeter player. He has definitely been missed in the last 2 contests, but the Royals find a way to win against 2 quality opponents on the road in hostile environments. IMO, the Royals are getting valuable minutes from Hamm, Tolle, Pawsat, and Treg Setty which in essence are making them a better team. Get well Keith!
  18. 47-29 Rebounding advantage, 25-6 on the offensive glass. Coach O'Hearn needs to take a Feldhaus practice to these boys. No excuse for getting beat on the boards like this, but still managed to pull out the win and without the glue of the team Keith Downing.
  19. For Mason to be effective, Miller NEEDS more than 7 shots in a 32 minute contest. Basically, that is less than 2 shots per quarter, plus the free throw attempts. IMO, Miller needs to be more vocal of commanding the ball in the post, and when he does get it, quit waiting for the double down on him, and be the MAN amongst boys that he is. AKA... ITS MILLER TIME!!!
  20. This information was released by the school first who then released to the media. Thats how the process works. The invitation was extended, accepted by the player, then word is released.
  21. Agree Papa on all points and I might add, if Downing is full strength then Stull doesn't break loose with those points. Downing is the Royals on ball defender at the point and Blaine Stull, while doing a good job running the Indians offense, is not going to get 22 points with Keith Downing guarding him. Give Montgomery the credit, they brought it at Mason County. Give Mason County the credit, minus their best defender, they still win and that should be the case closed.
  22. If Stephens gets anywhere near 20 against a great defense then he has definitely gotten better at finishing around the basket than he has been through this season. I seen Montgomery 4 times this season, he has trouble finishing near the basket for his size. In my opinion, the Rash kid, Clark, and the point guard must have big games. Point guard must keep control of the dribble and offense. Stephens is a factor but if he doesn't finish any better than I have seen against quality opponents, then the others must definitely have big time games.
