  1. Good win for St. Pat's to start the season. It will be interesting to see how the Brossart/St. Henry game goes Thursday--Could be an early season indicator of how the Mustangs may fare in defense of their 10th region All "A" title string? St. Patrick is expected to be one of the main contenders to dethrone Brossart in the "A" I believe.
  2. Agreed!! I thought they were very dangerous together last year, until McGraw's injury. Good to see him back, as there seemed to be some concern at the time, that his back injury might threaten his career, as I recall?
  3. I think this will be closer than many think? Boone's depth will win out in the end, but expect the Indians to keep it reasonably close.
  4. So Edumundson & the other 4 seniors meant nothing to last year's team?? I respect their team and Coach Jones' style, but I thought they lost a great deal to graduation, and they're playing the defending state champ and a current top 5 team in the state. Obviously anytime you take the court you have a chance, but expecting an upset of SC is asking a lot?? Good luck to GC!!
  5. Assuming they only capped it if you took the dog? How could you not let someone lay anything they wanted on an NFL team GIVING 26-28????????
  6. As Clubber Lang said in one of the Rocky movies----Pain!! Scott County by a bunch!! Gallatin always plays hard, but lost a lot to graduation; and this is a team in a different league!!
  7. Hope he's OK--I think they make a run for the region if he (and the others obviously) stays healthy!!
  8. #2 or 3 may be a little ambitious, given their ability to underachieve the past few years, especially if they've truly lost John Verst for the year. There's reason for optimism out in Alexandria, but let's see them play to their talent level and play some defense first; then worry about them cracking the elite of the 10th region!!
  9. I actually think the level of success the Camels have (or don't have) depends on how the kids, especially the older ones, buy into Coach Code's philosophy. His style is significantly opposite that of the previous regime, and it takes a lot for kids to buy into the defense-first, team-first style that Code will undoubtedly bring to Campbell. I don't remember seeing much "D" from Campbell in the past, and do remember a lot of individual, "look at my stats" type play. If Coach Code can get them playing a little more like the kids at his last stop, they'll be very successful; as there's some talent, especially at the younger levels. Had the opportunity to see their JV and Frosh play a couple times last year, and liked the way they played, so Code's job may not be as hard as it would appear. Number 2 in the region, as I saw in another thread may be kind of ambitious; let's see them win the district first, and then see what happens. Good luck to the Camels this year!!
  10. Not only returning talent, but varsity playing experience as well, especially with the Eagles, Silver Grove and Brossart losing a lot of seniors. From what Coach Code said in his interview Tuesday night, it sounds like a lot of juniors will play big roles this year. Still hate ot hear JV's out for the year though, he's a big outside threat!
  11. I think they might get some statewide "love" this year??
  12. What happened to Verst--He was their leading scorer last year I think?
  13. Sounds like a St. Mary's pipeline to the County striker? Sudden decrease in interest from the Camel perspective, once the discussion moved north of Louisville?
  14. Heard this morning that this may be the highest NFL spread ever, topping a 21 1/2 point number during the strike many years ago. For what its worth they said the "scab" Redskins (+21 1/2) won that game outright? I'd have liked to have the money line in that one!!
  15. What's their starting lineup look like? How many football kids were they missing?
  16. Is this an "open to the public" type event, or do you need ties the their program to attend?
  17. Back to the topic at hand Have the Mustangs scrimmaged anyone yet? Is so, how'd they look and what's their starting lineup going to look like?
  18. Apathy for a professional franchise is the worst that can happen!! The "Bungels" are alive and well--Again!!
  19. St.Pius's "A" teams always played in the parochial league along with a public league, as did St. Joes, Blessed Sacrament, St. Agnes, IHM, St. Henry, St. Mary's and others. Most of those teams play in some of the larger Cincy tourneys as well. As far as AAU goes, most "responsible" coaches I've been around or aware of always told their kids to to play school first, AAU 2nd in the event of a conflict. I'm sure several schools have instituted "school first" policies. I think Ohio still prohibits AAU from starting until the school season is over?
