  1. Let me rewind to the question. How does this hurt the private schools? And why are private schools against it? The answer that I recieved was that it would end matchups. Well I don't think that is a good answer because Prop 20 doesn't do that, if schools choose to end matchups it is thier own doing. I'm still looking for answers to the initial question.
  2. Be fair All Tell, Manual and Male and bring pretty big tickets as well. I think the private schools are so disgusted they they were "attacked" that they are failing to realize that the situation will probably be better for them in the long run. Also, I'm not for prop 20. I'm against it, I'm trying to understand why YOU ALL are so against it, when I don't see how it hurts you or makes the situation much different than it already is. My school hasn't been beaten out of the playoffs by a private school since 1988, it is awfully presumptous to assume they would win when history shows when haven't gotten past the publics anyhow.
  3. Look at the schedule oppitunities alone. For Eastern and Ballard tht you lose you can pretty easily pick up a Desales or Holy Cross. It isn't like the other the other two schools were much competition any. Add on two or three out of state teams, Moeller, Cincy StX, that Tenn school or some Indiana schools. play Lex Catholic, Manual, maybe Male, you could probably add on some consistant power out in the state like Hopkinsville or Bowling Green and of course St X. Possible Schedule 1 Out of State opponet 2 Local Private School 3 Out of State opponet 4 Public state opponet (Hopkinsville, Bowling Green) 5 St X 6 Big Draw Local public highschool (Male Manual Seneca or someone) 7 Big DrawLocal Public Highschool 8 Local Private school 9 State Private school 10 State Private school And this idea goes under the assumption that not many public schools would want to play the private schools (which I don't believe will be the case). The potential for big and exciting games has dramatically increased, your regular season has potential for much more excitement than the old playoffs ever gave you.
  4. I've been against it. The reason I never asked the question until now is because if I'm right (that prop 20 really helps the private schools) than it would have passed even easier than it did. Also a championship isn't everything. Thousands of kids play meaningful seasons and never even see a win. I believe in the regular season.
  5. My team usually doesn't make it past the first round anyway, we never get a chance to lose to St X. I think your misunderstanding my point out of anger. In the long run I think this helps the private programs, unless they take actions out of spite that hurt themselves. Like I said, I think the current playoff system is a joke anyway. Anyone who wants to tell me that the Danville team I saw three years ago won't have made it to the later rounds of a 4A playoff and I'll laugh in thier face.
  6. So what can we do to give Iroquios a fighting chance? I'm not say that to be a jerk but to point out that we aren't going to find fair any way we look at the situation. Like I said I'm against classes to begin with, I think the champion should be the best team regardless of any advantages they might or might not have. Prop 20 just further extends the absurdity of trying to make "fair" championships.
  7. That would be the private school's choice to do so if they feel that is in thier interest. That would be out of spite and I question whether it would be good for the private schools to do so. Again I'm against multiple championships, but I see the real difference that prop 20 makes is that it divides the state to have more champions. So if St X and Male want to discontinue ther longstanding rivalry it won't be because of prop 20 it would be out of reaction to prop 20.
  8. Is it guarenteed that these WON'T play each other? The Prop is just for playoffs as I understand it. Like I ask ram2003 why wouldn't some of the more competitive public schools want to avoid the ticket draws of Trinty and St X? About the smaller schools, how is there situation any different than it is today. Only a handful of those schools compete for championships anyhow. What difference is it to lose in the first round to Danville vs losing to StX? I really don't see how they are being hurt or are any worse off than they were before hand.
  9. What makes you think that Manual or Male won't want to enjoy a St X or Trinity ticket draw? Area schools will still want to play area schools. The only difference is that St X or Trinity would now be the same to us as a Danville or Highlands, schools of a different class that we won't see in the playoffs.
  10. First of all I'm personally against Prop 20. I want my team to compete against the best for a championship. However I've had a question that I've avoided up until this point. Why wouldn't the Private Schools support prop 20? Personally as I see it Kentucky doesn't even have a state championship anyway. We have four class championships and we're forced to assume who is the best. I'm against classes, I think they hinder the ability of small schools to "show what they got". So in my perfect world there wouldn't be classes. How is prop 20 much different than what we already have in existance. The Privates will still be able to play the publics during the regular season. They just don't get the oppritunity to beat the 1/4th of the Kentucky public schools in the tournament that they got to beat before. Yes I assume St X, Trinity, and other private schools will no longer have to play district schedules. I wonder if that is a disservice to them or not? I would think that would allow them to schedule like Notre Dame and get all the big games and big tickets. I'm trying to grasp why they are so against the policy, it seems to me that prop 20 would probably end up propping those schools to even higher levels than they already are. As it stands today I have heard some X and T people say that the X and T game are more important than winning the championship. Doesn't prop 20 allow them to have more experiances like X and T games or playing major national high school programs? Again let me say that I'd rather every team play for one championship, but I would like to hear why it is that the privates are so against a policy that, from my point of view, will elevate thier status. Does St X really need feel they are losing something replacing Iroquois with Moeller?
  11. What will continue to contribute to a big difference is that nearly all of the 100 freshman on the StX and T teams have had dreams and intentions of playing football at those respective schools. Of the 36 to 40 freshmen players at Manual, probably half of those were encouraged to come out during orientation. Even if Manual were to get a hundred boys to come out, it would not likely be adding much more in talent or experiance (my team had a total of 7 players who had played before highschool) to the mix. Regardless of that, I'd rather be a part of the 36 that get the oppritunity to topple the big dog.
  12. ding ding ding ding. We have a winner :thumb:
  13. This is really what the BGP poll is about. It isn't so much of a punish/reward poll like the AP top 25, it is more about which teams are the best. So in theory the BGP poll always want to put out a poll that means that every team should be able to beat the teams ranked below it. It makes the poll less active than others but I think gives a more accurate reflection as well. BTW Meade County does have a losing record, but they aren't chopped liver either, John Hardins win is significant.
  14. They have significant wins against South Oldham and Meade County.
  15. I think you have a legitamite gripe. From the looks of the schedule John Hardin "should" win out for the season. Now what they will do when the playoffs come around will be another story. I think part of the problem is that no from that district has made any real noise in a while, so the rumblings can get ignored. The posters are the press on this board, and no one will talk about the games they don't see, so if you want people to know about your team make sure you talk about them.
  16. Did I miss something or did ram95 ever say he agreed with kicking out the private schools? I don't believe he did. Also I know for a fact that he personally does far more for his particular school than most anyone and doesn't need to be lectured on he could and should do. The truth of the matter is that in big cities all around the U.S. public schools don't have community bind that public schools in rural areas have. This isn't anything new, this trend has been occurring for years. Private schools have a one up on this matter because they generally have a secondary community bind, be it religion, economic class, or whatever. There are less community binds for the public scools especially in the midst of open enrollment where many students don't go to school in thier own neighborhood.
  17. I'm not sure Manual people agree with the Manual administration. Remember gov and politics play a leading role when discussing the actions of public schools. Also as a general note. Most people claiming the St X and Trinity are "stealing players, recruiting, and what not" are generally out of the know, and typically outside Jefferson County. The truth is in Jefferson County open enrollment is a bigger issue in terms of a school "losing" (BTW a sentiment I TOTALLY disagree with, schools DON'T own students) than losing students to the private schools. Also I'll reiterate for the millionth time, St X and Trinity don't win because they are more talented. Many schools in Jefferson County have better athletes than those two schools put on the field, however those two schools have a great amount of solid depth that generally goes three deep. In a playoff system this favors the private schools and that is why they are so successful.
  18. One thing to keep in mind is that the JCPS middle school program is far worse than the high school program. There really aren't any good/safe public middle schools in Jefferson County, yet the same isn't true for the highschool system. Most private middle schools happen to be cheaper than private high schools. Manual being one of the better High Schools happens to pick up many students from the private middle schools. It is aslo worth mentioning that most of those students happen to be female anyways.
  19. I played for a Catholic grade school and than played for Manual. More than a single person has implied that Manual recruits from the Catholic Grade Schools so just go out and say what your alluding to. BTW if Manual is recruiting there they need to stop, that isn't where the talent is. That's like looking for beauty models at Jenny Craig.
  20. Don't do that man. Hopefully Rockpride will go back to his Leattner avatar.
