  1. That was with a completely different staff. I agree time will tell but I remember a time of talk on here that Kerry Combs was coming to Cov. Cath. I am just saying this staff although they may be great coaches, is not quite at that level. As a fan of one of their rivals I like this staff a whole lot better than I did Rodenberg's.
  2. Hey you are the one that said they could be compared with anyone, I just don't believe adding 3 coaches that coached at Scott (unless you mean Scott Co.) to a staff that had a loosing season makes them one of the best in the state. You said they could be compared to anyone so I compared them to "THE" someone in their Class.
  3. I think you might be getting ahead of yourself. They need to have at least 1winning season before we can match them up with the best in the state. These might be good hires but I doubt they strike fear into anyone in Ft. Thomas.
  4. Which one? becuase I would be willing to bet the one you think it is is not the most successful athletic program across the board in Kenton County.
  5. It is always great when Cov. Cath can get coaches from one of their district rivals.
  6. He actually isn't wrong he never said anyone was interviewed for the Cooper job he said the job at Ryle (I am assuming he means when Mullins got the job), and he just gave an example of 10% he didn't say that was what it is.
  7. They actually do add to their salary, but you are right it is required 90 days before the start of school if there will be a reduction in duties or pay. So he would have had to been told he would not be the basketball coach sometime in May depending on when Boone county started school in 2007. This is according to KRS 161.760. So my guess would be that he made the choice to stop coaching basketball not Ryle. Just based on the timing of the position he is in opening up. Besides I had a conversation with him in May where he told me he was returning as coach.
  8. Wow, they loss to CCH twice, Holy Cross (in 8 innings), and Henry Clay, and they haven't played anyone. (maybe because they haven't played Ryle). What do you think LLoyd's record would be agianst these teams? and Dixie's record against Lloyd's opponents.?
  9. Would it be fair to say the level of competition might have something to do with that? By the way Lloyd has lost 2 games. As far as this thread I would guess the 34th isn't the toughest district in the 9th. I would say 35th and 33rd each have at least 3 teams that could win the district.
  10. I guess my question is if a player gets an injuction that is eventually overturned the KHSAA says this is a violation by the coach and school. I just wonder do you think the coach should be punished? I used the Mitchell case because it is one that I know this happened in.
  11. Summer is not paid a teacher is paid for working 187 days you can spin it how you want but it simply is not true that teachers are paid for the summer. Vacation time is not always earned some places give you time off. Snow days are made up. I would bet most people get off the same paid holidays that teachers do (New Years day, MLK day, Memorial day, and Labor day) You could probably use your vacation days to attend any event(Tournament) you want. I believe most teachers probably plan during planning periods, in the real world you probably can run errands at lunch time try doing that in the les than 30 minutes teachers get. I would like to know about the 10 days they get to do what they want with I don't think my wife is aware of this Perk. This is simply not true if a teacher takes time off without pay their checks are affected for months at least my wifes checks were. Than go get a degree become one then get your mandated masters degree for about 10 grand, don't worry they will reward you with about a 3000 raise.
  12. No teachers do not get paid for the summer their salary is based on 187 days of work. They get checks for the summer but their salary is divided by 26 pay periods. (At least this is how my wifes district works) She gets 10 sick days and 3 personal days, and zero paid vacation days. No complaints I just found it funny when someone said take vacation days, because teachers really do not have paid vacation days like most careers.
  13. My point is teachers get zero days of paid vacation. I was responding to someone saying coaches have to take vacation days, but teachers don't get vacation days.
  14. Being married to a teacher I know that many teachers would like to take a paid vacation... They just don't get any paid vacation days.
  15. I agree with what you say, but how should the situation like the Mitchell case be handled I would say court injuctions can put a coach between a rock and a hard place.
  16. Do not take this as a knock on Ryle because I think raising that kind of money is awesome, but I do think it would be difficult to start a fundraising campaign without any coaches. Considering the people they may try to hit up may feel ties to the schools that will feed into them. It may take time for the community to feel ties to Cooper High. However down the road I would say they could have a chance to fund raise. I do agree with others that the timing is going to make it difficult to compete on the varsity level. Did Ryle play varsity football their 1st year?
  17. Do they have a coach in place yet?
  18. Wait until Allen is gone and if the domination continues I will agree with you. The second bolded part is funny. They lost to 4 NKY teams last year. 2 of them beat them by more than 4 TD's I am happy as anyone for Ryle and their turf but, I am not willing to call them the most dominate athletic program in NKY, as much as I hate to admit it I would have to say that school is in Park Hills.
  19. Watch the You tube clip as soon as he bumps him he stops and steps in front. I am just going by what happened They did not call a foul so it wasn't a foul. As far as the bush league that is my opinion and you disagree so be it.
  20. I think that the video shows 2 things that support a no call. Once he sees the screener 1. he pulls up and 2. He tries to step in front of the screener.
  21. Well let me explain I think Gilliespe called the play to get a foul which I think is a bush league move. Therefor I said the play call was weak. The other comment is about all the crying from another thread about how UK would have won on friday night. With sarcasm I said maybe if they played on Friday the ref would have called the foul as some believe these 2 factors are why UK lost. Is that better.
  22. Did Georgia not face the same issues? I didn't realize Georgia was an AAU team or played alot of scrimages. Face it both teams delt with the same adversity, and making excuses for UK only makes them look like you think they are weak.
