anyone have final score or updates on this game.

I attended the game and feel the final score was not a good indication of the competitiveness of the game. St. Henry trailed by 6 points at the half and cut the lead to 3 points about halfway through the 3rd qtr. Not taking anything away from Ryle, they were clearly the better team on the floor yesterday and the depth they bring from the bench just eventually overwhelmed St. Henry. St. Henry struggles to find offense, and at times yesterday there seemed to be a "lid" on the basket at the St Henry end. The ref's pretty much let the girls play and called very little in the way of fouls, which definitely favors the aggressive style of the Raiders. Good luck to Ryle and Notre Dame in their games tomorrow at Mercer County.

Hard fought game by two evenly matched teams. I thought the difference in the game was the balanced scoring attach by Conner and Conner's ability to knock down some 3 pointers. Crusaders did a good job of shutting down Conner's Beasly, limiting her to 6 points on the night. St Henry scoring seemed to by limited to the paint, and Janszen and Gamm combining for 30 of the teams 42 points. Seems to be a common theme here, but thought the refs made as many bad calls as good, bad calls going both ways. St. Henry called for 3 offensive fouls; don't see that often in a girl's game. Overall, a very exciting game between two good teams, multiple lead changes with no team holding more than a 5 point lead throughout the game.

Doesn't seem to be a lack of talent with Rader, Bowman, and Jackson. I would have thought Dixie would "match up" well with Conner. Is the Dietz girl not playing basketball this year ? I would have expected Dixie to be a strong contender for the 34th District this year with Ludlow and St. Henry graduating most of their starters from last year.

Wow, from the box score it would certainly indicate that Conner is far better than the "preseason" ranking of 9th in the ninth region. Dixie should be a solid team with talented senior leadership, but it appears Conner had no trouble with them. I look for Conner to surprise a lot of teams this year.

start with the 9 other players on the list, then consider not a single player from Notre Dame, Conner, Holmes, Dixie, Villa, Holy Cross and Ludlow were selected to the top ten. I have seen Jump play on several occasions, and consider her an excellent guard, but so are Beasley (conner), gamm (st henry) and schorer (villa); just to name a few.

:popcorn: This Thread has been hijacked by the Volleyball crowd. How about some discussion involving Notre Dame soccer and the match up with St, Henry next week in the first round of the State Tournament. Should be a doozy with Notre Dame ranked 1st in state and SHDHS ranked #4. Lots of speed and lots of talent on both teams. The winner of this game will have an excellent chance of bringing home a State Crown.:popcorn:

Did Conner really lose that much talent to drop them to #9, ranked below St. Henry and Villa ? Can't believe they won't be more competitive this year. Glad to see Abby Janzsen get some recognition as "top ten" players in the ninth. Had the opportunity to watch her play last year against Highlands, Ryle and Newport Catholic, in my biased opinion she was the best "post" player on the floor. Don't believe me; just review stats from those games. I would rank her in the top 5 in the region. Abby Jump is a good player for Ryle, but wouldn't consider her in the "top ten". It will be interesting to see how Moss fits in with the Boone Team, certainly has the potential to be a stand out if she can get along with Nell and become a team player. Look forward to some exciting games in the ninth region this year.:dancingpa

Wow, I just don't see it. I hope the crusaders can prove me wrong, but I can't see this squad being a better team than last years. Losing 3 of your starting 5 is always difficult, and I didn't see a lot of depth on the bench last year which makes me wonder what this season will bring. The good news is that most of the teams in the District (exception being Villa), also lost a lot of talent from the Senior Class that graduated. I do agree that they will improve as the season progresses, but that is partly due to the fact that most players are "multiple sport" athletes and go months without playing basketball leading up to the season. I think the majority of the potential starters (Janszen, Gamm, McArtor, Hasken) are currently playing soccer, and hope to bring home a STATE TITLE in early November this year. The Lady Cru Soccer team is currently ranked 4th in the state and have already captured the "All A State Title". :dancingpa Good luck lady Cru !!!!

Your original post makes it sound as if they played World of Sports or Pioneer course. "TWIN OAKS SERIOUSLY :puke:" Twin Oaks, played from the tips and considering the conditions, was a formidable challenge. No need for you to take a shot with comments like "really bad golf out there this year". Just my opinion :thumb:

Wow Tiger, I'll bet you would have posted a 65 on such an easy course !!!! Maybe next year they can get the Regional moved to Valhalla to give the boys a real challenge. GET A LIFE. :laugh:

Not much love here for the Lady Cru... St. Henry is a much improved team from the early loss to NCC. The Cru played Highlands and LCA late in the year and took both of these games to the wire. I believe the coaching staff has the team much better prepared to handle the pressure from NCC, but the tenacious defense that NCC plays will definitely be a factor. I also agree that foul trouble could play a big role in the outcome, both for NCC and St. Henry. The Lady Cru has relied on a 7 girl rotation of late, and keeping Abby Janszen and Taylor Gamm on the floor will be crucial. Good luck Lady Cru, the St. Henry faithful are very proud of your accomplishments. Sometimes being the "underdog" can be a positive thing, go out and take care of business.

Would be willing to bet the "1/3 of the team wanted to lose the first game of the district in order to bring this season to an end." would be referring to the girls sitting the bench (thinking they could perform better than the girls on the floor), and not the 7 or 8 girls that played their hearts out and were in tears following the loss in the St. Henry game.

I believe Adler was the only player missing that night, and with the depth that Highlands has, don't believe it impacted the game dramatically. I think it's obvious that Highlands, NDA, Boone, Ryle & NCC are the top teams in the 9th. Don't think you can count out Holmes, St. Henry or Ludlow from pulling the upset in the tournament. I think all three have shown the ability to step up on occasion and play at the next level, just seem to lack consistency. In regards to the close score of the St. Henry / Ludlow game last night, no big surprise here. Ludlow is a solid team with perhaps the most formidable trio of post players in the 9th Region. I think St. Henry was thrilled to walk away with a close victory.

Obviously you have not seen St. Henry play this year. Sophomore Abby Janszen is the real deal, averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds per game. Don't see how you cannot include her in the top 10.

Good win for a struggling Brossart program. Did Bowman play for Dixie??? I did not see her mentioned in the box score.

High ankle sprain in the Brossart game, will hopefully be back in action for senior night next Wednesday.

St. Henry certainly has nothing to hang their heads about after battling back and keeping the game in reach until the final minute. St. Henry lacks the depth of the programs like CAL and having one starter on the bench with an injury (Rolf) and another getting limited minutes after re-injuring an ankle (Kolkmeier) didn't help matters. I know that CAL tried to limit the minutes of the starters, but even with the starters on the floor the game was held close. I thought sophomore Abby Janszen (#13) matched up very well on Slaughter and the pressure applied to the guards by sophomore Taylor Gamm (#4) kept CAL from getting into any kind of offensive rhythm. Good luck to CAL in the post season; they're a great basketball team and a good group of girls. It was a pleasure to watch a "top program" of girls who keep their ego's in check and represent their school so well. :thumb:

Simply stating the school policy, never said I had a problem with paying tuition. With no guarantee that "feeder school" students will end up attending there, there's always a risk of taking playing time from freshman/sophomore players already enrolled in the program and giving 7 & 8th grade girls that experience, only to lose them to a competing program. I guess you could call it a double edged sword. Personally, I would prefer to allow students of any age/grade to try out, play those with the most talent.
