After another year to evaluate this situation by watching high school ball and travel ball I will throughout these names. I am sure there are some good kids in Eastern and Western KY that I am not aware of but here is the Louisville area. Anybody know of some teams still looking for games. The Louisville Baseball Club made up of 17yo out of Louisville and surrounding areas is looking to pick up DH through Oct. This team is loaded with D1 talent and looking to play against the same.

Ever face Johnny Mullins from Ashland. I here he beat Gullett twice when they were both seniors and was in the same stratosphere.

Faced Magrane in regional finals. He was a stud. Batted of Ron Mullins several times but thought his ball was a little flat. Never hit of Drew Hall but man he was scarey because he did not always know where that 90+ fastball was going.

Bullitt East should be up there with only losing 2 seniors. They also return there whole pitching staff...

Hearsay unfortunately Casey Robinson will not be playing. He recently went to Nashville for a baseball showcase and ran the fastest 60 time in the camp. He was invited to play on the Under Armour Pro/Select team this summer in Omaha Nebraska and had to make a difficult decision to focus on baseball.

Must be nice not to have to deal with Title IX. Just another advantage for X

3 hours on the field today. Infield in great shape but outfield a little soggy.

As a general rule of thumb someone who runs a 4.5 on a stop watch will run about a 4.7 when they are electronically timed. It is always important to know the timing mechanism.

I would say you are correct. Our fastest player is a sophomore. He ran a 4.72 40 and a 6.9 60. One thing to remember when people quote 40 and 60 times is that there is a 90% confidence interval of +/- .20 on a hand timed 40. In other words if you are timed at 4.72 there is a 90% chance that you are between 4.52-4.92. As you see this is a big difference. My 4.72 guy might be faster than someone who claims to be 4.55.

The way it works out every 3rd week someone will get a Mon- Friday start. Only playing one Saturday and was still able to schedule 34 games. The four pitchers are very equally matched and all will be position players while not pitching. Just kicking around ideas as this is my first year as head coach and I noted that last year the kids arms wore out.

I am struggling with it. I have 4 quality pitchers. I can not decide if it is a better idea to go with a 3 man rotation and a closer or a 4 man rotation. I have scheduled Wed off each week which allows an additional day rest if I go with the 3 man rotation. I have a 5th that I could use for middle relief. What's your thoughts.

How many high schools are consistently using a closer? If they use a closer is it one of their top pitchers?

How are you guys timing from home to first. What is the best way for consistency.

My experience with fast is in football, but what is considered fast for a high school baseball player? 40 times, 60 times etc.

Not being critical of the umpiring. The two man system is no doubt the reason the call can not be made. It is tough on base runners as you teach them that a pitcher can not come to first after breaking the plane but an umpire is not able to see it from their position.

I have noticed that many umpires have trouble seeing when a left hander is balking on his move to 1st base. Can any of you guys give me some tips on the base runner reading that move.
