Medical students were given 2 weeks off. That ends Monday. I know we need them in the hospitals, but I’m not gonna lie, I’m feeling anxious. On a more serious note, apparently, the wedding dress is on a slow boat from China. :lol2:

Iím confused on your school absentee rate issues. Letís say a family is exposed and they donít know it. So siblings Jenna Junior and Frankie Freshman are in school. They actually never get sick. But they are carriers. Well Jenna is in band, and plays the trumpet. Frankie plays basketball, and his team just won the region. The girl who sits next to Frankie in math class is a type 1 diabetic, she got it from Frankie and the doctors are worried....

The fact that so many COVID-19 patients need ventilators to recover is a statement in and of itself. Most people on a vent require sedation, the life saving machine is invasive, and patients can acquire pneumonia just from a vent. Cognitive activity may never be the same. The list goes on. So, no thank you. Even if we do have enough ventilators to save me and my loved ones, I donít want us to ever need one. So we are hunkered down for the long...

Around that time, I had several students who were out sick for long stretches. Also makes me think we already had our first wave.

My sister is one of the main caregivers for my dad, who lives alone. Her husband is a nurse anesthetist at the VA hospital. Since he is at risk, she realized that living with him also puts her at risk, and she could unknowingly pass it on to my dad. So last week she chose to go into quarantine with my dad, and away from her husband, so that she can continue to take care of him, and minimize his exposure. So grateful for my sister.

So many great sing along songs. “Lucille”, “Coward of the County”, “Islands in the Stream” (with Dolly), “Ruby”, and on and on.

In addition to not heeding the warning of social distancing, part of the high death rate in Italy due to COVID-19 is not enough hospital beds, equipment and staff. Many (not all) who contract the virus will need a ventilator for a period of time to recover, or they will die.

Remember that movie ďThe Poseidon AdventureĒ? A line from the theme song, ďThereís got to be a morning after...Ē, keeps running through my head. So Iím looking for some hope, positives, in this mess. 1. Air pollution levels in quarantined cities in China and Italy have plummeted. 2. Researchers say that antibodies from recovered COVID patients can help protect those at risk. 3.In South Korea, recoveries are outnumbering new infections....

Interesting. We got an email yesterday from St Elizabeth’s Hospital that there have been NO confirmed cases anywhere in their network. I find that surprising.

Yes! This is not how we want our dad to go. No Mass, no bars, limited to about 5 family members who can check on him.

I hate this for everyone. Then I go back to the logic, and it makes sense. Take away opportunities for this to spread, and it won’t. It will just die. Let’s all help it die.

Yes! And when it is over, I want ALL my students back in my classroom. Businesses and industries will suffer for sure. But hope that we will still have all of our people to continue to travel, go to school, sporting events, etc.

My extended family has a new plan called OPOOF. (Operation Protect Our Old Farts). For my 92-year-old dad, he is not allowed to go to Mass or the tavern, his two favorite places to be. His visitors/caregivers are limited to the same 5 people. Hoping he continues to thrive and survive better than his stocks/investments at this time.

Not worried about the Virus. Hate how it is affecting the lives of our young people. Worried about their mental well being. For many, school and extra-curricular activities are their routine, their friends, and their safe haven.

I am with you here. Just hope it does not flip the other way, where students doing the "fake sick" thing to avoid school, won't be questioned and can miss school whenever they want.

    1. We assigned chrome books to students who don’t have a device at home. 2. Paper copies of lessons will be available to students who don’t have the internet infrastructure for online, remote learning. They can pick up at the school office. 3, Teachers are still reporting to school each day, to create lessons and assessments for online learning. 4. We want to continue to provide enriching education opportunities for your children, but we...

Hope he can come home before a travel ban is placed on the British Isles. —a little worried about access to insulin. We are pretty well stocked up, but I fear for those who are not. —worried about those kids who get breakfast and lunch at school, and now they won’t have those meals. Cafeterias will...

NCC is typically one of the front runners for the ALL A basketball tourney. Teams that make a deep run in the tourney have to be conservative with the number of games they schedule, so that they don't go over the limit.
