I was impressed with the Colonels effort tonight They just couldn't hit shots. Nick Frederick needs to really work on adding some weight, he has all the tools just a Little small and struggles to get open. They return 4 starters along with Heppler and Schue so they will be ranked pretty high next year, atleast top 5.

 

My guess is Heppler moves to the 4 and plays a lot.

 

There will be a lot of competition for minutes next season.

There are rumblings in Cincinnati that there could be a transfer to Northern Kentucky next season.

The spacing was perfect and Beuter once again kept his turnovers to maybe 1 which was huge. CovCath went into a Bulldog aggressive press and NCC did a great job of throwing over top and then setting up their offense. The Breds only go 7 deep with confidence but those 7 can play.

Great things happen when the ball goes inside. That was the difference in the game.

Not sure if they got right guy but I agree they handled it correctly. I was sitting court side and did not notice the bonus issue until referees did. Announcers should have hit buzzer. It was pretty loud in there with cov caths fans.

It was not handled well all the way around.

 

The officials messed it up by not recognizing that the table told them it was a bonus. However, once it was obvious to the table that officials were having the teams line up for a throw-in they should have been on the buzzer letting the officials KNOW it was a bonus.

 

Once it was recognized the officials did handle it properly from a rule standpoint. Fans were yelling to put time back on but the rule does not allow for that. However, they put the wrong kid on the line. Schulte was the one fouled on the rebound but Ryan went to the line.

 

I was looking down both benches to see if anyone was coming up to the table to check in. Once I looked back to the court, the ball was being thrown in so the only thing I could have done was start the clock and wait for the next dead ball.

Once the ball gets thrown in, you can't just blow the horn until the next whistle...which is what I did.

Can one of the stat guys verify the score? It was 59-40 when the buzzer sounded and then I looked up and it changed to 41, wasn't sure if that was when the scoreboard pad was unplugged or what. KHSAA has the score as 59-40.

 

I believe that a made CovCath freethrow in the 4th quarter was missed by the scorers table and then added in the final score .

 

KyTmcNcc, that is correct and I apologize for the confusion. As long as the official book has the correct score, I am willing to add the point even if it was after the buzzer.

I counted 3 Ruthsatz head jerks for fouls, the biggest being Hightchew's 2nd. As much as I can't stand it I do think It's very effective.

The 2nd foul was legit without the selling of it. Brady didn't get over in front of him before he made contact.

I'm just saying he definitely closes the sale with the head jerk.

By the way, there's more to this than just thinking "We would have blown the horn the next dead ball."

 

Scenario:

 

NCC takes it out of bounds before you notice the officials did not award the bonus FT attempts. You decide to wait. NCC scores a basket. Dead ball so you blown the horn.

 

BY RULE the basket counts AND NCC gets to shoot FTs. So now instead of at most two points they could have 4 or 5 points. Try explaining to the officials and the CCH coach that you didn't notice because you were checking for subs. Yikes.
