The spacing was perfect and Beuter once again kept his turnovers to maybe 1 which was huge. CovCath went into a Bulldog aggressive press and NCC did a great job of throwing over top and then setting up their offense. The Breds only go 7 deep with confidence but those 7 can play.

 

I think they can go 8 deep with confidence. The Morse kid can play. He did a great job filling in for McDonald when he was hurt. He only played a couple minutes late last night but he is definitely one you can count on when needed.

KyTmcNcc, that is correct and I apologize for the confusion. As long as the official book has the correct score, I am willing to add the point even if it was after the buzzer.

 

As you should, people have to remember that the official score is the one that is in the official scorebook. Coaches and fans get all excited when information on the scoreboard is incorrect. If it is caught, the official scorer will let the scoreboard operator know when the scoreboard is wrong.

Ruthsatz 3's in 1st half kept it from being ugly early.

 

Someone needs to tell Ryan There is more to the game than making 3's and running down the court with his wrist curled. This act is growing old I'm sorry. McDonald hit his FT's and played well on the big stage. Andy Miller is the glue for NCC. He is strong with the ball and scored a couple Big First half buckets. He corrals loose balls better than anyone I've seen this year.

 

I 100% agree with all of this. Shulte is a very athletic kid that can play above the rim. He has gotten better and better as the year has gone on and has played extremely aggressive the last few games.

 

It was nice to see McDonald and Schulte on the floor at the same time last night. McDonald had a big night and came up with some big rebounds. Good things happen when you get the ball inside and don't rely on the 3 so much.

 

Miller, again, played a great game. I believe he had 9 points, 11+ rebounds, 3+ assists (nice high low passes to Schulte) and came up with numerous lose balls. He just seems to always be in the right position all the time.

 

It was good to see Hightchew come up big in the second half after battling through foul trouble in the first. I think the bigger college court really helps him as the point guard attacking the basket. With him at the 1 and spreading the court it allows him to get to the rim a bit easier for dishes and layups. His aggressive takes and physical play has really rubbed off it seems on his teammates. I believe he is now 7 points away from the exclusive 1,000 point club. Not that he would ever put individual accomplishments ahead of the team; however, it's got to be exciting for the young man to be that close to a big accomplishment.

 

The ohhhh's and ahhhh's really came out when Seibert blocked the CCH shot in the first half on the low block. It had to be one of the better blocks of the year.

 

All in all, it might have been the best game I've seen NCC play all year. They continue to be on a nice roll.

I counted 3 Ruthsatz head jerks for fouls, the biggest being Hightchew's 2nd. As much as I can't stand it I do think It's very effective.

 

He suckered the same ref 2xs w/ that. This was my first time watching Ruthsatz. He is savy and he can get his shot off in a hurry. The rest of CovCath was just outmanned.

The 2nd foul was legit without the selling of it. Brady didn't get over in front of him before he made contact.

 

It was Hitchew's 3rd foul when he did it. On Hitchew's second foul he had good position and Ruthsatz intiated contact and chicken winged him a little. Like I said, I was really impressed by his basketball savvy.

Yea, he has a lot of court savvy that is for sure. Im guessing playing in Jersey with all the ballers up there has taught him how to get calls and his quick shot is essential due to his size.

It was not handled well all the way around.

 

The officials messed it up by not recognizing that the table told them it was a bonus. However, once it was obvious to the table that officials were having the teams line up for a throw-in they should have been on the buzzer letting the officials KNOW it was a bonus.

 

Once it was recognized the officials did handle it properly from a rule standpoint.

 

Agreed....best line of the night from a random fan in 4th Qtr - "that's only 8 fouls, shouldn't it be a throw in".....even the good crews miss one once in a while :sssh:

By the way, if any CovCath fans complain about the foul differential, they should be very happy that the refs allowed them to virtually murder the NCC players late in the game with their swarming traps. I saw some major hacks that were not called, hence the 3-4 uncharacteristic turnovers that led to Colonel points. The lead was large enough that it didnt seem to phase the Breds but that was ridiculous.

That was a well executed play. They actually ran the oop 3 times last night. Nice to see Brannen utilizing his bigs. Nick needs to eat some pop tarts over the summer, he has that thin frame and even though I'm sure he works very hard, though for him to pick up the lbs. I think he will be one of the top players in the 9th next year. His only problem will be that he will be surrounded by a great guard and 2 great big men. NCC should be very good next year. But they still have to focus on what could be a fun run this year!

Yes, that was really sweet, I forgot that one. It seems that play works twice a game for the Breds. I can never tell when it is coming and I look for it each game. It's very well disguised.

 

I agree he is underrated and is one of the more athletic kids on the team. He has been a major contributor this year and I think he will have a big game Saturday against Cooper. With him, McDonald and Schulte next year, it will be hard to find a bigger front line in the 9th region, if not in the state. With Pangallo running the point, things will be bright again for the Breds.

 

However, I have a feeling that this year is far from being over for NCC.
