I did get a chance to meet Coach Booher's father-in-law. He is the legendary Pikeville football coach Hillard Howard.

If you hear a bunch of "are you freaking kidding me" tonight it's coming from Latonia.

Holmes defense contested everything. CCH got no easy outside shots and then just couldn't make anything in close. If the Bulldogs play defense like tonight they will be tough to beat. The key to the game was the 2nd quarter when Palmer, Englemon, and Martin had to sit most of it. Holmes got killed on the glass but hung tough with the sophs and frosh. I believe there is a reason CCH shoots poorly against the 'dogs and that is no one challenges their shots as well. Holmes is very average offensively, but with the "d" they brought tonight they'll be really tough to beat. CCH does not match up well with them. I thought Tobler played well, but he was it. Palmer was a stud tonight. He just blew past them whenever he wanted. When CCH had to go to man to man and trap out high, it was pretty much a free throw contest the last 4 minutes. These are both pretty young teams that will battle it out the next couple of years for the 35th. Looks like the 'dogs could draw Dixie or Boone, but you gotta beat them anyway.

Spot on...Holmes defense was VERY GOOD tonight. Covcath missed some inside shots but it had a lot to do with Holmes having 2 and 3 guys contest everything down there.

I thought Palmer and Bolden both played well against Ruthsatz. There was one possession where Bolden absolutely broke Ruthsatz down. Both of their defense on the CCH guards was very good too.

Holmes at one point in the second quarter had Bolden (frosh), Wilson (soph), Hill (soph), Rice, and Waller on the court together and they didn't miss a beat defensively. A break down here and there with Hill down low but overall Wilson and Bolden held their own, and some, out top in that 2-3 match up zone. The future is definetly bright with those three and the talented 8th grade class.

Tobler played well down low for Covcath but I felt Englemon did a great job at both ends. He has really developed over the past few weeks. He has went from a struggling jv player that can't stay out of foul trouble to a varsity contributor. When he plays with confidence, he is a great asset to Holmes.

First time seeing Bo Schuh as well and he will be another fun frosh to watch over the next few years.

Great guy.

This not to pick on any kid, but just a statistical observation: Nick Frederick, Sawyer Pauly and Nick Ruthsatz, who combined for 49 points in the win over Holy Cross, combined for just 11 points tonight, and combined to make 1 of 32 shots from the field and the one make - a three by Ruthsatz - came as his dad was frantically trying to call a timeout. Wow.

It was obvious that the 'dogs were going to guard everyone not just Ruthsatz as HC did. They were going to let him get his 17-20 and stop everyone else, unfortunately for CCH Ruthsatz didn't get his usual.

If correct, that's pretty freaking amazing. I've seen bad shooting nights, but 3 for 40 from everyone else? Kind of takes the air out of the theory of good shooters keep shooting, the ball will eventually go in.

If you hear a bunch of "are you freaking kidding me" tonight it's coming from Latonia.

As an HC fan that is exactly what I'm saying Clyde!! lol

I'd be right there with you, if I were an HC guy. Tough way for your guys to go out, and tonight's performance only makes it more irritating I'm sure.
