The Breds roll to an easy victory tonight as Highlands had ZERO answer. NewCath's press created many TO's tonight. Muench, Kohls, & MVP Kiernan All-Tounrey Team from NewCath.

Leah Schaefer & Jesse Daley from Highlands also All-Tourney

No surprise here. Congrats to the Breds on another district title.

NewCath came out giving it 110% as always and gets a win over a Highlands team that turns in a disappointing and concerning effort on the court. :puke:

Tough night for Highlands who misses Abner's leadership on the floor. Sydney Watson plays really hard.

Agreed. Sickening!

Congrats to the Breds. I agree, really not a surprise. Don't be too hard though on the Bluebirds. They have been hit hard by injuries and are definitely not the same team they were earlier in the year.

Highlands has been hit hard by injuries this year but NCC has a good team with a really good coach. He always has NCC ready to play!

Too bad they weren't playing Bellevue where they could score at will, and did. Those things have a way of coming back to bite you.

Completely agree. :thumb: Couldn't have said it better myself. Beating Bellevue by 70 was ridiculous and totally uncalled for, IMO.

No doubt. There's no reason to beat up on a team like that in any sport. As a coach you have to show some kind of respect for the other teams players at some point. There's all kinds of ways to keep the score down !

Perhaps to be more political correct and stop these types of beat downs then maybe the two small schools or at least one of them step up to the plate and vote for the seeding of the tourney and then these types of beatdowns dont happen. I can assure you unless you were at the game, Highlands pulled their starters mid 3rd qtr in fear of scoring 130by default. No way did Highlands run it up.

Oh and one of the small schools voting for seeding? that wont work, those schools want to keep the blind draw in hopes of getting lucky and finding themselves in the regional tourney.

Weird how some decisions that some make come back to bite you.

So whats it going to be folks.........................

Not sure how "beatdowns" stop by voting for seeding.......................

1 seed vs winnder of 4vs5 That is a beatdown in this district

2vs3.......In this district on the girls side of it that is a beat down as well many years.

Plus..............by having to play in the regular season the three (Newport, Dayton and Bellevue) all get to take "beatdowns" at the hands of NCC and Highlands.

Strange argument you have there indeed................

First of all, NCC could have beat Highlands by 50, but instead Coach Dawn had his players pull the ball out every time they got it in the fourth quarter and made his players run an offense to work for a good shot. That is one thing that Highlands could have done in the Bellevue game. As soon as Highlands got the ball, they were off and running to get layups. Do not understand why you think the 'beatdowns' would stop if they seeded? This is a prime expample as to why basketball needs to be classified or the All 'A' Classic turns into a true small school tournament elimating 2A schools.

REALLY??? So HHS will continue the beatdowns of the small schools in the district tournament until they choose to seed. I am all for seeding but this is not the best way to go about it.

I unfortunately was not at the game, but find it hard to believe that this score was run up intentionally. What was to be gained by HHS in doing this? It is my understanding that the score was 8 to 8 after one quarter and then 48 to 16 at half. How did the 40 points come about? I would assume that the end of the bench was playing in the game for much of the second half, so are they not supposed to try and score? Should HHS have played keep away? If they were in fact running, then that is easy to correct by simply having your team walk the ball up the floor and run a little offense, but you still look to score in my opinion.

IMO, NCC is not 30 points better than Highlands rather they shot well early and things went down hill from there. The real question that cannot be answered is how much different this game would have been if Ava Abner was able to play. The Birds have really struggled in her absence both offensively and defensively.
