Grant County 55 Walton Verona 50

Good win for Grant. I've seen them twice (almost as many times as I've seen Mason County) this season - at Bracken where one of their players got hurt, then at Mason shortly thereafter. Nice to see them get this one after the adversity they've had lately.

I agree Tyler & Trevor deserve to make all region, but not over Hargett or Mcneil. This is voted on by the regions coaches not walton fans, I saw the final votes and Tyler & Trevor received no respect.

BGcat what is your opinion why those two players didn't receive more of coaches votes?

Most parents feel the program is headed in the right direction! So don't think u speak for the parents, I know the parents. On a side note, the 2 Walton Verona All region players, Hargett and McNeil scored 26 last night. Grant County Region Rejects Trevor Hunt and Tyler Carr had 37

I do not think anyone feels that Hunt and Carr are rejects at all, but when you play 20 plus games against A schools you just don't get the respect you sometimes deserve. The important thing is they got a big win when it mattered.

I agree, they need to get over the all region thing. It means absolutely nothing.

Why do they send the votes to Owen County? Why did Owen have coach and player of the year? This has all been covered in another thread.

Also old school your comments are exactly why people can't stand Walton! You think you're better than everybody else! So keep running your mouth and hide behind a screen name.

Not hiding behind screen name....played at Wtown mid 80's, always lived in Grant Co., and have kids Walton school...that should make it pretty obvious for most GC fans.

Maybe not to you but to any player who bust their chops every day playing for coach Hicks it does!

So if the teams were reversed and Walton kids played at Grant and Grant kids played at Walton, then the "A" school beats the big school, then do these kids get respect?

Agreed. Unfortunately, there are always those deserving but do not make the all region team, as well as those who are not deserving but do make it. I would imagine that the two young men for Grant County are happy with the big win and the chance to compete in the 8th Region tournament, since nobody gave them the respect or chance to do so. I would also imagine that Coach Hicks and his team used the all region snub for extra motivation. Part of what makes high school sports and sports in general fun and full of learning experiences. Congrats to the Braves on a well desreved win.

so with the talent that Coach Hicks has now that would have been developed as you say by your buddy right! Enough said! Enjoy the rest of your basketball season!

BGcat, do you really think the majority of parents and players say 4th grade through varsity are happy with program? Why so many defections of good players no longer playing? I think this years junior class is now completely gone.

If your a longtime Grant fan do you think Coach Wendroff would approve of current Grant program from top to bottom?

stop living in the past there is a new era at grant county so stick to your user name... quit living in your glory days grow up a little bit and let grant county enjoy this win and for the all "a" comments about the weak schedule you play 5 on 5 right???

Sweet! You sound a little Sour!

Just kidding.....thought I'd throw a little humor on the fire!

Don't think I ever said that....not even sure what kids he coached but I think Trevor would be only one left.

Best of luck to Grant boys rest of the way, I have nothing but respect for how hard those boys play. If this years Walton team had the toughness & will to rebound of Grants players they would still be playing.

So now only kids who play for coach hicks bust their chops? Okay got it. I'm sure there are plenty of "snubs" on the region picks but they aren't crying about it. They are simply happy their teams continue to win.
