Disagree with Boone Co being #2 but still consider them a legit Top 5 team.

I say Dixie by 6.

The only team with a better record is Holy Cross and Boone County beat them. The team with the 3rd best record is Holmes, who also beat Holy Cross, and Boone County beat Holmes also. I know what you are saying. I am not sure I would pick Boone head to head versus Holy Cross right now but on paper, you have to say Boone County is #2 and they should end the season #2 even if they lose tonight versus Dixie as long as it isn't a lopsided loss. Is Boone #1 in N. Ky. if they beat Dixie tonight?

VOR - All very good points...Not disagreeing with any of your logic at all. I just think that if HC and Boone County played right now, HC would beat them if Campbell is healthy. HC played them the 2nd game of the year without any football players back....I know, I know, if this and if that...I think Boone County is a very good team. If they beat Dixie tonight I'd think hard about putting them #1 yes.

Boone Co loses to Cov Cath and NCC but beats Holmes and HC, however, HC beat NCC twice and also Cov Cath, but only 2 losses on the year were to Holmes and Boone Co.

Boon lost to New Cath at Boon so that sort of jumbles things up.

When it gets down to regional tournament time, I like to look at regional records just as much as overall. I also like to figure out what their record is against only in-state competition.

Boone County

Overall: 22-6

In-state: 21-6

Region: 11-3

Dixie Heights

Overall: 19-8

In-state: 17-3

Region: 12-0

To me, if I'm just looking at the body of work of the season, Dixie has already clinched the top spot in the ninth region, win or lose in this game. That doesn't mean Boone County, or someone else couldn't be playing better at the right time, but at worst, Dixie will finish 17-4 in-state and 12-1 vs. the region, still better than anyone else.

The most impressive thing about Dixie Heights is in their 3 games against other top contenders in the region, they won by 7, 17 and 14.

Boone County is 2-2 against the other top teams...wins against Holy Cross and Holmes, losses to Cov. Catholic and Newport Catholic.

This is a nice matchup to close the season though.

As an outsider, it looks like this to me.

1. Dixie Heights

2. Covington Holy Cross

3-6. Boone County, Covington Holmes, Covington Catholic, Newport Central Catholic

I think Dixie Heights is a clear #1 at this point with a perfect 12-0 record vs. the rest of the region. It would be hard to top Holy Cross's argument for the second spot. And, I think you can make an argument for any of the rest in the 3-6 spots.
