If you missed it, the Scott Eagles led every step of the way, and were ahead 9 points 37-28 at the start of the 4th quarter.

In the final seconds of the game, Tyler Buckner missed two critical free-throws with the game tied at 41, but followed his second miss with a rebound-stickback giving the Eagles a 43-41 lead. Nate Verst knocked down a dead-man jumper from the elbow to tie the game at 43-43, but Josh Felts scored what appeared to be the game winner on a run-out, giving the Eagles a 45-43 lead. Zach Fardo alertly found Justin Saunders streaking to the opposite hoop, threw him a strike, Saunders scored to tie the game at 45-45 and was fouled in the act of shooting. Following a Brad Carr time-out, Saunders left his free-throw attempt short, only to have Nate Verst come from out of the crowd and while falling backwards, heaved a two-handed prayer in the direction of the goal, which passed through the cylinder, hit nothing but net, and won the game 47-45 for the Brossart Mustangs and the Campbell County Camels who were depending on the Mustangs to knock off the Eagles and send the 37th District Seeding race to a coin flip.

What are the district standing now?

The way I understand it is that Scott, Brossart, and Campbell are all tied for 1st place in the 37th district and a coin flip determines the seeding...I'm sure Mustang will confirm whether I am right or not.

Basically, I am guessing, he means there is no way he should have made that shot. He had as good of a chance of making it as a dead man??

Tough one to see slip away! Brossart tightened the defense with about 2:30 to go with a 1-3-1 and Scott had a couple turn-overs and missed free-throws, that did them in. Proud of the Eagles, they haven't been given a chance all season and to lose their only Senior before the game (injury), they were where they needed to be until the run out by Saunders with 10 seconds to go and the foul (& 1). Gotta box-out!

Dead Man Jumper - Ken Shields terminology - A pull-up jumper inside the paint that even a dead man should be able to hit on a good day.

 

37th District standing are that as a result of us each beating each other, Brossart, Campbell County, and Scott are tied for the district top seed.

The winner will be detemined by coin flip - when and where I do not know. Odd coin wins, the two common coins play each other as the #2 and #3 seeds.

 

37th District - Monday, Feb. 20th - #4 vs #5............. Wednesday, Feb 22nd - #1 vs winner of #4/#5 and #2 vs #3

Championship Game - Friday, Feb. 24th. Both the district winner and runner-up advance to the 10th Region Tournament.

It wasn't a pull up jumper it was a throw while falling down, incredible that it went in. A crazy shot to win or lose on. Scott never trailed untill the final score. Led by as many as 11. Held a 7-11 point lead through the 2nd quarter til the final minute. Had many opportunities to blow the game open but allowed Brossart to hang around and the Mustangs finally made their run. This District, This Region will be crazy to watch come tourney time.
