Westboro church to picket Joe Paterno's funeral.

This could be very interesting, they don't discriminate against those that they feel are opposing gods will according to them. This group doscusts me, I feel like it's just a matter of time until they become a radical group. Just to be clear by radical I mean non law abiding and violent.

As much as we might hate it they are exercising Free Speech as long as they do not violate local ordinances.

We should pray for them, right?

I agree to an extent Clyde but I still think legislation needs to be passed to protect funeral services which in my mind are meant to be private services to an extent. Perhaps legislation needs to be made to give family's the option I dunno. With that breathe I have never agreed with their ways and am extremely glad I've never come across them because whether it be a fallen soldier or a football monument I couldn't imagine how I would respond if I were a member of the fallens family.

Let me play ACLU here.

There is no law that says I cannot picket across the street from a church or cemetery unless it's private property. If we can have OWS protest on sidewalks in front of private homes then this ugly group has the right to protest in front of a cemetery. If we let people protest in fron the the White House....

Which is exactly why my post read the way it did and talked about the poosibility of future legislation being necessary.

Wouldn't it be kind of funny if people picketed their funerals when they die? I'd be down if someone else was driving.

I wonder if I could use that as a volunteer day at work....

Clyde I agree. But I also agree that one day they will run up on a group that will Exercise a Free Butt whoopin!

One day someone will get hurt messing with people during difficilt times.

I would like to ask what God they are serving?

Legislation is tricky when it comes to the First Amendment.

Agree on your last question.

There is not, but there is only a misdemeanor charge that will likely never be prosecuted stopping a Penn State fan from beating their brains in. Google Brandon Mississippi Westboro baptist.

As long a we all understand they are NOT a true Baptist Church. No way, not even close. They do not even have a service.

They have every right to protest, that is what is wrong with America. Protest are good, but being allowed to protest a funeral, now that is idiotic and stupid.

I know what they should do, go protest Gaddafi's death in Libya to the rebels and get a dose of reality.

Let me play ACLU here.

There is something called common decency isn't there? Oh, probably not in this PC society. I would never consider protesting at a grievous occasion such as a funeral.
