Only got to hear bits & pieces of the end. BC's Sara Sticklen went down with what the Brossart announcers said looked like a serious knee injury (with around 2 minutes to go). I sure hope it's nothing severe.

The Lady 'Stangs opened play in downtown Carlisle Ky Wednesday night at the Touchstone Energy 10th Region All A Classic. They outlasted and froze a tough Bracken County team 44-40 led by 15 points from Sophomore Madison Eisenman and 8 points from Sophomore Morgan Verst to advance to Friday's semifinal. They outrebounded Bracken 38-20 led by Sophomore Sarah Futscher's 8 and Eisenman's 6.

 

Eisenmann had a great game for BBHS hitting 5 of 12 from the floor, 5 of 6 from the line and grabbing 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

 

Brossart led most of the game but found themselves trailing 7-0 after four minutes. They rallied to tie it 9-9 at the quarter stop and then led 23-20 at intermission. They still led 33-28 after three quarters before Bracken stormed back to tie the game seven times and force lead changes 7 times. Brossart took the lead for good at 41-40 and tacked on some clutch free throws late in the game.

 

Coach Feldmann's team led in most categories again in addition to a huge rebounding advantage they outshot the Polar Bears 40.5% to 33.3% from the floor, 63.2% to 52.6% from the line and dominated in points off the bench with 26 to Bracken Co's 4.

 

They will take on the Deming Black Devils at 6:30 at Nicholas Co. High School in their beautiful new gymnasium Friday. Deming outlasted Calvary Christian 38-37. The lower bracket will play Thursday evening.

I felt whoever won this game would win it all and I still feel this way as its in my opinion that the Lady Stangs and Lady Bears were the two best teams in the tournament. Sounds like its a shame one of them had to lose the game. Aside from the game itself, now Coach Kelsch has to set on the edge of his seat and hope for some really good news as his star player Sticklen went down and I hope its not a serious injury. She is a quality kid and just an outstanding athlete and basketball player and she is a senior. I hope she receives some good news and I know PK will rally his kids as well from this loss. Bracken is blessed to have a coach such as PK leading the Lady Bears. Prayers go out to Sarah and the Bracken basketball family!
