January 5, 201214 yr I agree with his social positions and could even get behind abolishing the DOE but he loses me with the flat/usage tax stuff. I like a progressive tax system and would only be willing to entertain a flat or usage tax when everyone has the same opportunity at success/income. We're moving in the wrong direction in that respect. He also seems to be too much of a risk taker for me to feel overly comfortable with his finger on the button. That being said, based on the article I'd much rather see him win than any of the cut tax and spend conservative candidates with social agendas currently getting attention.

If the Libertarian party (or any 3rd party) was able to gain enough votes for automatic ballot access it would go a LOOOOONNNNNNGGGG way to helping their future candidates. That's a different scenario. If I thought my candidate would lose handily I probably would vote the third party if I liked that third party candidate. I'll most likely vote Obama regardless this year unless Gary can make a strong push for the White House and have a strong chance to win. I'm not going to vote Gary just for the sake of voting Gary. My vote will go to the candidate I want in office with the best chance to win.

Granted, my vote cast here in Ky is likely meaningless in the grand scheme of things and I'll still cast it for Obama unless it looks like Gary can take Ky. Maybe that is what UKMF is referencing when saying it takes a vote from Romney. If Gary can win Ky then I'll vote for Gary.
January 5, 201214 yr He was a two-term Republican governor of a largely Democratic state. Unfortunately the national GOP leaders didn't deem him worthy enough... If I'm a registered Republican I question how come he wasn't given the proverbial "seat at the table" early on in the process. He wouldn't make it thru the nomination process due to how far his policies stray from the norm for the bases on either side. If he did get nominated by one of the two major parties I think he would do rather well in a general election.

January 5, 201214 yr There are probably a lot of things that could be done to help spread the pro-life cause and convince more people to consider it. I'm just of the opinion that the first thing that should be done is to have the practice outlawed. Technically, that's how it is now, if I'm not mistaken. For me, taking an innocent life is taking an innocent life...regardless of whether that life is inside or outside of the womb. Where do you stand on capital punishment?
