I enjoyed the game. Way to hang tough mustangs. But I hope I never have to sit through a game with that female ref who worked today. She was horrible for both sides.

He was in foul trouble early. Only played about 2 to 3 minutes in the first half. Brossart did a good job of holding their position and taking the charge when he drove to the basket.

Hightchew picked up two early game fouls and sat the first half, while Zach Ryan kept the Breds on top by connecting on three 3-pointers and contributing 12 points.

 

Second half Brady tried to make plays, often forcing the issue in the paint, but things didn't go well for him in this one.

 

Drew McDonald actually had 18 points. I missed a made free-throw in the second period. Great game for the freshman big man. Poised under pressure. Possesses a sweet baby hook that is nearly impossible to defend.

He only played 2 minutes and they still led by 5 at half time. Looks like NewCath will be ok once Brady starts to get comfortable w/ everyone around him and not feel the need to force the drive. 2-3 or whatever they are right now will be a distant memory soon.

Brady has the ability to be a top 2 or 3 player in NKY. However, he has two issues that could prevent that. 1. His insistence on going to the rim in a reckless manner and 2. his inability to not foul. I'd add his emotions as well. He should have been T'd against Central Hardin for yelling "and 1" and "calling something" after a layup. He has to control his emotions.

Thats been Brady's MO since day 1. I hope he realizes he has some very nice players around him and doesnt have to do it all. He is likely the Best overall athlete NKY has seen since Derek Smith or Jared Lorenzen. I think he will come out of it. The kid probably needs a break as hes played 3 sports the last 12 yrs straight.

Unfortunately though, she was the best one. The short guy ref must have had a bet on the game, that's the only explaination I can even think of for those calls at the end. A 5 second call on Bueter when only 3 maybe 4 seconds went off the clock. That plus the walk call on Seibert cost NCC the game. I'd like to see the players determine the outcome. Not the case in this game.

It was a packed house, NCC coach jumping up and down on every call, fans screaming discontent as the game unfolded. Players filled with emotion and refs trying to control an unstable atmosphere of an obvious rivalry. Would you expect anything different? What a great game and it is what high school sports should be all about. Best $6 bucks in NKY was at the Lloyd Tournament yesterday. Congrats to all the competitors.
