The thread about TV shows that went bad made me think of this. Have there been TV shows that got better as they ran their course? One example that jumped to mind for me is M*A*S*H*. While I enjoyed the early episodes with Trapper and Blake the later ones with BJ, Potter and later Winchester proved to me that even with major casting changes great shows can not only survive but thrive.

The Office is and should be on both of these lists. Season one was terrible, but it has now peaked and on it's down turn.

It's only two seasons long, but Justified took a huge leap from S1 to S2.

Seinfeld took a few years to find its niche.

I was going to say the same thing. However, they weren't noticed as much, IMO, because they were going against Cheers.

The Closer. Love that show. It's better now than it ever has been.

I thought Law & Order kept getting better.

Once Jerry Orbach left the show, I was pretty much done with Law & Order.

It's a shame this is the last season

I agree. It is peaking now, IMO.

Not exactly on topic because it doesn't fit perfectly in the description, but "The Wire" was a show I thought didn't go down, it was a steady stream of awesome every season.

I'd say Sons of Anarchy should be on this list. They have been pretty consistent though I thought last season (Ireland) wasn't all that great. But this season was off the charts great!

Fixed that for you.

Appreciated! It was just outstanding, you would catch things in season 4 or 5 that they had laid groundwork down in season 1 etc...
