I agree with both you and Big Stud. NCC and HC 1 an 2 and you can flip them back an forth over who is one or two. Then Newport, Beechwood and St. Henry is the next three in no real order.

11th region

  1. ill give the edge to LCA jsut becasue they won it last year
  2. Sayre
  3. Frankfort
  4. berea
  5. model

Could be, Jackson County beat OBI and Lynn Camp has beaten Jackson County twice, and Cumberland. OBI played Corbin tough, and Cumberland beat Jackson by double digits and took Harlan to OT. I really think ranking the class a teams in the 13th is very hard to do. Harlan and Barbourville should be well ahead of the rest of the pack, but yet to take their game to that level. Teams 1-7 that I ranked all have a good shot at the 13th all a region title.

12th

1. Danville

2. Somerset

3. Monticello

4. Burgin

5. Harrodsburgh

16th

1. Elliott County

2. Fairview

3. West Carter

4. Menifee County

5. Rose Hill

????? Raceland has already beaten Rose Hill and Menifee.

14th Region

1. Lee County

2. Hazard

3. Jackson City

4. Buckhorn

5. JBS

...and these 5 (IMO) are very closely rated. Also Cordia is right there too. Owsley and Wolfe will be better by class a tourney time, so watch for one heck of a tournament in the 14th this year!

The class "A" region 2 finals is in "(Dawson Springs)Panther Gymnasium" with over 1100 gym capacity. It isn't close to the the biggest venue in the region but it is a small school tourney. The atmosphere there will be electric and it will be the best ticket in the state that night and maybe all year. If Trigg and UHA make it to the regional finals, which I believe they will, it will be a great game in a tightly packed house who could ask for a better senario? If it was played in Rupp where the empty seats would take away from the atmosphere and cheers and jeers would be lost in the steel and concrete how would that be more too anyone's liking? This is what basketball is about the players, the fans, a ball and a hardwood floor.

The only people who seem excited about the All-A being held at Dawson Springs is the people from Dawson Springs. I don't see how a gym that only goes seven rows deep in a horseshoe design can seat 1100 people. Especially with the chairbacks behind the scorers table. A Trigg UHA final would draw between 2000-2500 people in a normal gym. It's a shame that the All-A schools will lose an extra $4,000 in gate money and maybe half that in concession money because the third smallest gym in the All-A region is hosting the event.

I totally agree with BigStud.

 Now there is a big surprise..I think during basketball season at least that you and bigstud are one and the same. ;):D

1-NCC

2-Beechwood

3-HC

4-Ludlow

5-St Henry

Can't include Newport or Lloyd in my Class A rankings because based upon KHSAA enrollment numbers they play Class 2A in football. NCC and St Henry fall very close to the cutoff but I will include them for now..

Or were we talking the enrollment numbers used for the Class A Tourney which for whatever reason uses a different formula.

All very good points ...

The gyms at either Lyon County or Trigg County would be a perfect venue for that game, assuming it comes to fruition.

The only way Dawson Springs' gym accommodates the crowd is if either of the two favorites gets upset before the final.

Dawson Springs is also hosting both the girls and boys final on the same night. A lot of people in the region are shaking their heads over this one.

Two possible solutions to this...do it like in the third region...have schools bid for the venue and pay the All-A schools a fee to host the tournament. Or have a neutral school such as Hopkinsville, Christian County, or Madisonville host it.

They used to rotate it between Lyon, Trigg and West Hopkins (before they consolidated into Hopkins Co. Central.) They have had it at Crittenden Co. a few times too. They might as well have it at Ft. Campbell or UHA if Dawson Springs can host it. Quite ridiculous.
