Seriously. The Bucs have been blacked out at home for almost every game during Morris' 3 year tenure, even after last year. Of course the home games played in Great Britain don't count. Before Gruden was fired, they'd not been blacked out since the Glazers bought the team in 1996. That should tell you everything you need to know.

 

Personally, I like Raheem Morris. I like his energy. I understand he has an extremely young team. However, he needs a real offensive coordinator, not a guy just thrown into the job after Jeff Jagodzinski was fired 10 days before the start of the 2009 season. He also needs a defensive coordinator. It's obvious he is not able to give enough attention to be the DC and be the head coach.

 

I also think, given his size and the right QB coach, Josh Freeman could be the next Ben Roethlisberger. He's shown glimpses of it. I just think Alex Van Pelt is not the guy to coach him.

 

What do you think has been Freeman's problem this year?

25 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions last year is a really good year no matter what teams you play. He was not just okay last year he was really good. This year you are right he has been TERRIBLE! I mean people around here like to say how Bad Palmer was last year, but Palmer looked like a Pro Bowler compared to what Freeman has looked like and stats show that. However to many people blame the QB right away, and there probably are more reasons why then him just sucking for why his play changed so much this year. If you want to take away giving him credit for last yaer, then you need to give him some slack and realize that there are also probably reasons for why he struggled this year. He deserves one more year to see if maybe this year was just a fluke, or maybe that good year was teh fluke. He deserves one more year though to see.

That I would agree with. If he can't get it done next year, then it is time to really look elsewhere.

Bad decisions and drops. The fact that Freeman works better in the 2 minute offense, when he doesn't have time to think, tells that story. He's got the raw talent, IMO.

The NFC East teams aren't that much different...all have suffered significant injuries, all have serious flaws, and all are bi-polar, meaning they could be great or they could stink on any given week.

 

Except that Philly has stunk more consistently this year and had more "talent" than any team in the NFC East. The facts are Philly just isn't as good as everyone thought they would be.

 

The Giants have suffered a ton of injuries. But their problem is coaching, not injuries IMO. The injuries hurt them more than I thought they would at MLB and corner, but if Steve Spagnuolo were still their D-Coordinator I believe he could have made it work with what is still there. Fewell simply isn't getting the job done, and if Coughlin stays I hope they at least replace Fewell (whose contract is supposed to be up at the end of this season). If Spagnuolo is fired in St. Louis the Giants would be absolutely stupid not to throw a ton of money at him to come back as their defensive coordinator.

 

If the Giants lose the next two, or even one out of the next two, I could see Coughlin being replaced.

I think Freeman has more potential than Alex Smith. Smith isn't much more than a game manager at this point IMO.

I can name 2 game managers, off the top of my head, that have Super Bowl rings. Oddly enough, both played for the Bucs, Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer.

Can't remember much about the Bucs superbowl run other than it was a boring season for me. Dilfer's Ravens won because of the defense...not because of Dilfer.

What he could end up with is Jay Gruden. Especially if Morris gets one more year and doesn't do well. It seems like Jay is well liked down there in Florida, so I think there is a good shot he ends up as a head coach somewhere in Florida within the next two years.

Sounds like Big Ben is going to sit this Saturday and possibly next Sunday as well. This would be huge for the Bengals if true, as the Ravens very well could have nothing to play for in Week 17.

Pittsburgh plays St. Louis so they still have a good shot to win without him, however at least the Rams have a better chance now. The Bengals need the Ravens to win, and both Steelers and Texans to lose this week. If that happens then the Ravens really won't have anything to play for. If only the Steelers lost it won't matter, because the Ravens would still play for that bye which they would be fighting with th Texans with.
