December 20, 201114 yr Freeman will definitely be back...He was outstanding last year. Morris has completely lost control, he should be canned. Freeman was last year's Tebow. He beat crappy teams and lost to the good ones. He has been exposed as a mediocre to average qb and took two steps back this year instead of one step forward. I say send them on the same bus out of town before things get out of hand.
December 20, 201114 yr ^No chance. He's under the old contract structure. You don't get rid of a QB because of a bad season. If teams did that in the NFL, outside of a select few, teams would be changing QBs almost every other year.

December 20, 201114 yr I desperately need Buffalo to beat Denver this week, so the Chargers can have a shot at sneaking into the playoffs. They are playing lights out right now, but its hard to overcome a 6 game losing streak. I don't think anyone wants to play San Diego in the playoffs.
December 20, 201114 yr Pretty awesome stat....With just two weeks to play, 22 of the 32 teams in the NFL still have playoff chances.
December 20, 201114 yr A man can dream can't he? Tampa is going nowhere with Freeman. I doubt either one is going anywhere. I miss Jon, too. The nice part, is he still lives here and we see him occasionally at USF events.

Hey weren't you one of the ones who wanted Carson gone? He had one bad season with the Bengals, but didn't stop people from wanting him gone. So why is it wrong to want Josh Freeman gone? By the way I don't think Freeman should be gone, I just found it interesting that you would give him a pass for a bad year. Especially when he does have good young weapons to throw to. He has just looked pretty bad this year, but he definitely deserves another shot.
December 20, 201114 yr How about some predictions? Who do you see getting the playoff spots still up for grabs? AFC West: Denver AFC Wild Card #2: NY Jets NFC East: Dallas NFC Wild Card #1: Detroit NFC Wild Card #2: Atlanta Realize I'm not really going bold here, but I just see this playoff picture playing out. Not to mention, these teams making the playoffs will make for arguably my favorite playoff field in the last 5 years.
December 20, 201114 yr A man can dream can't he? Tampa is going nowhere with Freeman. To many people jump the gun on QB's after having a bad season. Shoot if people did that with Brees he would have been out of the league, because he didn't do well at all early on in his career. That is what led the Chargers to draft Rivers because they never saw anything from Brees.

Let's not be dilusional and think last year was his only subpar season.
December 20, 201114 yr What other years was he as bad as Freeman has been this year? Last year was by far his worst year while still throwing for 4000 yards and 26 tds. 2008 he played a total of 4 games, and 2 of those games came after he injured his elbow. 2009 helped take the team to the playoffs and led them on 7 game winning drives that year. Most of them coming against good teams, which is something we can't say about this years Bengals team. So besides last year, what yeah was he just bad as you say?

Everyone thinks because Tampa went 10-6 and was one game away from playoffs that Freeman was great last year. He was just okay last year. Tampa beat crappy teams and Freeman got the credit(a la Tim Tebow 2011) and now with the same weapons and same head coach as last year he got worse? Young qbs aren't supposed to go backwards are they? I don't remember Drew Brees being 'great' one year and suck the next. I remember Drew Brees having LT and no receivers and then I remember San Diego drafting Phillip Rivers. I am not opposed to moving Freeman for a better qb. I wasn't sold on Freeman last year and I am not sold on him now. If they keep him then fire Raheem but I wouldn't be sad to see them both gone.
December 20, 201114 yr What is the climate around Raheem and Josh in Tampa? What are the fans in Tampa saying? Hang on. Let me see if I can find one. :jump: Seriously. The Bucs have been blacked out at home for almost every game during Morris' 3 year tenure, even after last year. Of course the home games played in Great Britain don't count. Before Gruden was fired, they'd not been blacked out since the Glazers bought the team in 1996. That should tell you everything you need to know. Personally, I like Raheem Morris. I like his energy. I understand he has an extremely young team. However, he needs a real offensive coordinator, not a guy just thrown into the job after Jeff Jagodzinski was fired 10 days before the start of the 2009 season. He also needs a defensive coordinator. It's obvious he is not able to give enough attention to be the DC and be the head coach. I also think, given his size and the right QB coach, Josh Freeman could be the next Ben Roethlisberger. He's shown glimpses of it. I just think Alex Van Pelt is not the guy to coach him.

He was not just okay last year he was really good. This year you are right he has been TERRIBLE! I mean people around here like to say how Bad Palmer was last year, but Palmer looked like a Pro Bowler compared to what Freeman has looked like and stats show that. However to many people blame the QB right away, and there probably are more reasons why than him just sucking for why his play changed so much this year. If you want to take away giving him credit for last year, then you need to give him some slack and realize that there are also probably reasons for why he struggled this year. He deserves one more year to see if maybe this year was just a fluke, or maybe that good year was the fluke. He deserves one more year though to see.
