Seems strange to keep this information a secret. Lots of other combines put this information on their websites for public display. Wasn't this combine open to the public? Don't see what the big deal is.

This is a really big deal for those that dont know. This week in San Antonio is the "whos who" of HS football across the nation. I had the privileage to attend one of these a few yrs ago and every big time college is represented. Coaches are not allowed to be there but the upper deck of the Alamo dome is the eye in the sky with 100s of video cameras rolling. State of KY keeps getting the National attention and this is awesome.

Congrats Blake, have fun and dont forget your mouth piece, its the most physical "no contact" camp you will attend.

Nor should they. My adivice to Blake is to decline to run the 40 yd dash. He doesnt have to run it and once he does he is labled with that time. I would get my 40 time recorded at a certified training agency and be done with it. I know for a fact that laser time will add .100 to .200 to traditional timing methods.

I agree the laser adds significant time to a 40.

Really wasn't talking about Bir's results specifically. Was just interested to see all of the attendees numbers since there were other players there that I was interested in also. If you know they have laser and don't want your numbers published, why attend? Like I said earlier, wasn't this combine open to the public?

It is open to the public, but the numbers are not shared with anyone during the event. They dont displayed them on the scoreboard for all to see. They are recorded and shared with the player when they recieve their combine report card at the end of the event.

Why attend? Because like I said there are probably 100 plus video cameras some live feed rolling in the upper deck of that place. Scouts and colleges are looking for more then just the 40 time. Dont get me wrong the 40 is probably the most important and the most overrated imo number any athlete can obtain. Add it in with size and ability and you would be surprised how many 1 day college camps a kid will get invited to. And even then, unless you are a legit 4.4 I would avoid running it at all costs.

FWIW, I was shocked at how many athletes at the Army combine and several other 1 day camps I attended with my son that the kids just dont know how to run the 40 yd dash, the pro shuttle and long jump. They are incredible athletes with raw talent, size and speed but a kid with lesser intangibles can match or beat their numbers with proper training.

All of these measurements can be taught by those in the know and for most kids on the bubble or looking to improve I would seek out somebody like a Cliff Marshall of Ignition and learn the techniques before testing out. JMO, trust me it works.

Word is Blake is close to landing his first offer.

Blake will be taking Junior Day visits to Ohio U, Miami O, and Northwestern.
