Paul Columbia resigns at George Rogers Clark

Featured Replies

Paul Columbia is a great man and has given so much to the GRC Football Program and school. I wish him the best of luck and thank him for all that he has done.

Its amazing he was there 30 years. And they were always pretty solid. Enjoy the retirement life coach!

News said he was going to stay on as assistant principal.

I think a sub 500 record speaks volumes! Sometimes you have to realize when you are not cut out for a job and move on.:isurrender:

From the outside looking in, this is a GREAT job! I have seen them several times and they always look like a small college team. This would be a great gig for the right guy!

Agree 100%.

Agree. Will be interesting on who all applies.

Do they stay in house and hire James Stults?

Would be a good choice IMO. Will have to see who all applies.

Stults is a great coach who was part of the 91 State Championship team. But I have the feeling they will go outside the current system for a coach. Heard a couple of rumors, but none can be confirmed.

You are exactly right. I have worked in Winchester for years and several of my coworkers have had kids to play for the program. I have been to a few games and from what I have seen they have all the talent in the world just about every year I have seen them play. With the right coach and the right system this school could become a dominant program year in and year out in my opinion.

There is no reason to think they couldn't be right on par with Scott County on a yearly basis, which means somewhere around #3-8 in Class 6A.

I think James Stults would make a great head coach there...he is home grown and has a vested interest in the program...not someone who will come in and leave after a few years.

Interesting bit in the Winchester Sun tonight. Columbia wrote a retraction letter stating he didn't resign, but received "a

Reduction of responsibility for coaching duties". Interesting

So what does that mean...he is still head coach?
