I agree with EG when Dan gets a better team around him he will blossom into a very nice D-1 player.I compare him to Doellman at Xavier maybe not a star but a very good team player.Just because you are 6'9 and in high school doesn't mean you get every point and every rebound because there are other players out there.Some of you sound like you want Dan to average 30-20 every game.Did Jordan or Magic or Bird do this?no so just give the kid a break.Also he does hustle, Does Griffey look like he hustles all the time?no looks can be deceiving. And in my mind if you get a scholarship D-1 or not you are not a bust because you have made it, there are plenty of kids out there that won't get a scholarship for what ever reason.So Dan you just keep playing hard,and let the chips fall where they mayand that D-1 ticket will be there.

 

Doellman was a star in HS and led his team to Rupp as a junior. Doellman is only similar to Penick in that they are both big kids (6'9'' or so) that would prefer to play around the perimeter.

 

Penick is, without a doubt, the best senior prospect in the 9th region; however, he's not the best player. His size and raw talent alone will get him a scholarship somewhere, and hopefully he can pick the best school for him - whether that be Division 1, Division 2, NAIA etc... Personally, I do not see him going to a major D1 school (Xavier, Kentucky, Cincinnati etc.) but I think he could contribute at a school like Marshall, Morehead State, Bowling Green, Eastern, or possibly even Western in a few years. The decision he has to make is whether he wants to do that, or attend a place like NKU where he could maybe start by his sophomore or junior season.

I agree, Vories is not getting the recognition he deserves. This past week he dropped 17 on Dixie, 20 on CovCath in a hostile environment as well as the game winning bucket with 7 ticks left, he scored 17 second half pts against NCC the next night to cap a 3 victory week against formidable teams. He works the baseline as well as anyone and gets to the rim. He has ice in his veins and is a dribbling wizard. His Dad was a great player at HHS in 1979 when they beat Dicky Beal and Holmes and went downstate and I know he has played AAU ball since he was little. I think he would be a great fit at PG for a D2 or possibly a MAC school. Obviously to play in the MAC he would have to get stronger but if Ronny Dawn can play there, I think Vories can as well. Watch for him the 9th Region tournament. He is wiry but quick as lightning and is a true scorer.

I believe Tierney is getting looked at by some D-3 schools and has spoke with Univ. of Southern Indiana from Northern's conference a few times and is pretty interested in that school.

I may be wrong on the name of the school. I believe this school is in NKU's Conference. I'll check on it and see what Tim say. I also know Centre is interested in him coming to back up Nesto.

I was wrong the school was Indiana University Southeast. Which is a NAIA D-2 school. Sorry about that. He is still gettting looks from various schools . Centre has given the most attention though.

I was going to say Southern Indiana is a powerhouse and would be a great school. They are one of the favorites to win the National Title on the D2 level.

Right, it is Indiana SE, not Southern Indiana. I believe assistant coach Ryan Schrand has a few connections at Indiana SE, and I'm sure that is really helping draw some interest towards Tim.

I believe Dan will definitely be at some Div. 1 school next year. He has to much potential for these schools to pass up on.

 

I know he hasn't dominated every game like we all think he should be able to at the high school level with his size and thats probably why some people on here have said he is overrated. I know I believe to he should stay down low more because he has such great skills he should be able to dominate down low at this level, and he probably would have the numbers that everyone would expect. But since he hasn't done that people try to say he is overrated and shouldn't even be looked at by div. 1 schools. But that stupid to think that because if have seen him play you should know he should be at some Div. 1 school, because he has the potential to be a very good player and coaches can see that.

 

I believe in college we all will get to see all of his true skills because he will be able to play more of the 3 position where he can face the basket which is where he is more comfortable playing at and where he can use his good outside shot and great passing skills and just play more freely by being able to move more.

 

Thats why he will end up at some Div. 1 school because these coaches can see the ball handling and passing skills he has for his size and the potential he brings. Then when he gets to college and actually gets good coaching he should be a very good player for what ever school he ends up at.
