The recruiters from the schools offering Penick a scholarship are crazy to offer a kid that has underachieved for the last few years. He will turn out to be a bust at any school he attends.

 

Come on, Tiger1. We cannot in good conscience call a high school kid a "bust". Give the kid a break. You don't have to like him or think he can play at the D1 level but to call a 17 or 18 year old kid a 'bust' is over the top and disappointing.

If Penick has any DI offers I would like to know who they are. He is vastly overrated and has not done anything for the past 3yrs. to warrant any offers from a DI school or even possibly a DII school like NKU.

 

I totally agree with Tiger1. What has he proven? He can't even dominate in the 9th region how will he even play D-1. 6-9 is like 7'0" in high school, but almost every team has 4 or 5 6'9" guys in college. A good test for penick this year would be him vs. Kiernan in the All A. If they meet I think keirnan would show the region why 1)Penick is overrated and 2) Keirnan is the best bigman the region has to offer.

He played in several tournaments (AAU) over the summer and in most of those games he played the 3 or sometimes the 4 and this is what college scouts and coaches see him playing in college. He is more comfortable facing the basket and handles the ball and passes the ball as well as any big man in NKY in a few years.

At Ludlow he is needed to post up and play the 5 as all the great basketball minds on here have stated over and over. Does he always do that? I think he would agree that at times he isn't always successful in doing so but based upon potential alone IMO no one else in NKY comes close.

Well o.k. but whatever he showed during this past summer while in L.A., Vegas and Atlanta it certainly got some schools (Div 1) suddenly more interested in him.

He played for the Adidas Team when he went out of state. While in Ky I'm uncertain of the name of the team but he played with several of the Holmes players.

It would be hard to argue there are any better seniors in NKY than Howard, if you did he would be top 3 easily. There are no senior in the 9th going any better than Div.2, even that might be a stretch.
