14th Region Rankings (You Rate)

Some pretty stiff competition......George Rogers Clark, Paul Dunbar, Lee County twice, and Johnson Central in the Eagles' invitational tournament.

Well I still say Leslie's schedule is just as tough. They have played PCC, North Laurel, GRC, Pike Central(Decent Team), and a 6A power Miami Senior who has Dwayne Collins.

But you must remember, they have beaten everyone they played pretty bad except for Prestonburg, and it was called sooo bad. JBS is in there .

What happened against Cumberland?

I belive JBS is better than Lee Co. based on how jackson co. beat them .I would also put them ahead of KCC ,

By the same kind of 'circular' reasoning, one could believe that Lee Co is better than JBS, based on how Cumberland beat JBS. (Jackson City beat Cumberland, Lee Co beat Jackson City). And speaking of Jackson City, has JBS turned things around enough to overcome their huge spanking by Jackson City at the end of last season? Jackson has their best players back and I'm pretty sure that Jackson City will win again if they happen to cross paths this year.

JBS may be good, but at least 1/4 of their schedule is devoted to very weak teams. Trouncing the David School or Piarst will not gain respect. And as someone else said "What about Cumberland?" The JBS crowd has been noticably silent about that game for some reason.

In the Crusader Classic JBS plays Allen Central and Piarst but doesn't match up against visiting Elliot County. Why not? An outsider would think that JBS' schedule is being padded.

I don't really know who they play at the Berea Tournament, but JBS' confidence should be up by Jan 10 when they play PCC. I think that game would convince a lot of people.

Nothing personal against JBS, I just keep seeing post' about them and with their schedule you just can't tell.

Good luck over at PCC.

Also Belfry beat PCC and lost to Letcher Central. You cant really compare head to head and all that though. Belfry beat PCC on a nautral court and lost to LCC on LCC's home court. Belfry and PCC plays tongiht in the championship of the Smokey Mountain Holiday Tournament

Pcc won that game by about 20 to.

And Leslie's plays in the 5/3 which is the best touney in Kentucky.

Who has Hazard beat?

They've beaten the teams they should beat, with the exception of South Floyd (but they beat them on a later date), and their losses have been to very good competition---Perry Central by 2, Russell by 9, Iroquois by 2, Pulaski Southwestern by 12. Most of these losses have been in tournaments at Allen Central and Bryan Station. And we must remember that they have just recently picked up an important player in Olinger. Once he gets back in the groove I suspect some oif those 2 and 8 points losses will be reversed.

I didn't see the Cumberland game. I know JBS got beat by 2. As for Elliot Co. I have only seen the Faulkner twins play and they know JBS 8th grade guard. I am sure they respect him.

Olinger might not have come to the rescue in his first game back, but remember, it WAS his FIRST game back.

In My Opinion,

I'm not saying Hazard is the best team in the region, but if history has anything to say about it, by tournament time Hazard will be to reckon with. And most posters have Perry Central rated #1 in the region, and they only beat the Bulldogs by 2.

Looks like the 14th is more of a toss up than ever!

Leslie is struggling as of now... but they have had a VERY tough early season schedule. As we all know (and witnessed last year) Leslie gets better as the season rolls on. They will be the top runner for the 14th region title when playoff time rolls around. Don't knock em right now guys... look at last season, not one person picked them to be the 14th region runner-up. They were picked as the favorite this season... let that tell ya summin when they have the same ballclub returning.

Oh, I will agree that Leslie will improve with time and when tourney time comes around they will be a good team. This will be great year for the 14th. Giving some teams a chance that have never really had one (Jackson City, JBS, etc...). This is going to be interesting in a couple of months because some of these teams (Owsley, Wolfe, Powell) will have some returning stars and be different teams. I love this game!

I've been off for a while....but here is my rankings....

1. PCC

2. LCC

3. Lee County

4. Leslie

5. Hazard

IMO, Hazard is a better team the JBS is. You can't really say, and be serious, that JBS will be a better team in March

1 Perry County Central

2. Leslie Co.

3. Letcher Central

4. Lee County/Knott County

5. Hazard/Estill Co.
