Turning point last night was when Dixie led by 12 in the middle of the third quarter and then had a few turnovers combined with back to back technical fould by Bruns and Mullingan in less than a minute to allow Conner to pull within 4. Conner would take the lead on their first possession of the 4th and it was game on from there.

 

Speaking of omitting baskets, was it just me or did the scorers table short/give Conner an extra basket?? Situation... Dixie is up 8-6 late in the first quarter, Conner scores and next thing I know Conner is up 10-8. Did they score two baskets to end the first?? I ask because when Conner scored to start the second quarter, the score was never changed to (what should have been) 12-8. If the scorers table truly messed this up and Conner was indeed up 10-8 on 5 fg's to end the first quarter, that is a huge mistake as it would have left Conner down 1 at the end of the game and not 3 and could have changed the final minutes.

They ended up catching their error. Conner was credited with one basket too many on the scoreboard at the end of the quarter. A lot of people around me were commenting that the score was wrong(I wasn't paying attention to it) and I told them that the books will get together to make sure they match. They both matched but didn't match the board. The scorekeeper then fixed the error. The Conner stats guy was at the table as well so my guess he matched the books, too.

 

My guess (key) is that the books were right since they matched and the scorekeeper was wrong but it was fixed prior to the 2nd quarter starting.

Wow, if they hit 60% of their FT's they win the game? Or was the game ever in doubt?

 

Conner had so many chances to have won this game by 10 plus. The killer was the free throws, and like Clyde mentioned, they missed so many beyond 5 feet from the basket. Conner played a very "scrappy " game and played hard the entire game.

Clyde, you are correct about the score after the first quarter. It was simply a case of the scoreboard operator hitting the +2 button one to many times. Both book keepers had 8-8 and the score was corrected.

 

The box score from the post has numerous errors. Dixie's score by quarter does not add up to the total. Koors did not play for Conner. Huff had 16. Barker had 9. Not sure where they got this from.

I can't say enough times how impressed I was with this kid. As good of a football player he is, he has a very bright future in hoops as well. All around solid athlete.

Watching Conner against Oldham last week, Odlham beat them around 30 and was being nice, Coach Hicks has some nice young players but I thought Dixie was loaded. If they play like that they cant win the 9th.

It's the first game of the season folks. One of their studs is no longer on the team. Wait a few more games before you write 'em off................. or any team for that matter. Lord, I think we over analyze these poor kids to death.
