Somerset 34 Danville 23

No disrespect but Danville is still a great program. We live in a get rid of everyone society. They went to the semi's last year and everyone is hollering get rid of Sam, seriously? Show some loyalty stick with your coach and help create an atmosphere that will help the program be state champs again.

I am not a Danville fan. I am relaying the culture of Danville football to you. Considering the current culture of Danville football from high school down to the little leagues it will be next to impossible for Sam Harp to win another state title at Danville. That's just the truth. Serious disconnect all the way down to the 6 year olds. Like I said, Sam deserves better considering all he has done for Danville but like it or not the time is coming for a regime change at Danville.

Danville has the 27th most wins in the nation. That mean there is only 26 other schools in the country that have won more games than Danville has. Coach Harp has won the majority of those games. I think we will keep him as long as he wants to stay.

I do too. I just don't see him winning another state title at Danville.

Looks like 2003. I believe they have lost 10 of their last 13 to Boyle County and now their last 4 to Somerset.

PP92 you seem to know a lot about the Danville program and are not a fan. I don't know how you became so informed on the Danville football program? Some how I think you are just throwing out your opinion. How many Danville games did you go to this year?

This is faulty logic. You have to do what is best for the program. Florida State and Penn State (among others) have found out that the "keep him as long as he wants to stay" isn't always in the best interest of the program. And no matter what type of success has been had in the past, there has to be evidence that the job can be done going forward.

Now I'm not implying that Harp needs to go. It appears he still has some good years ahead of him. And not being in the school isn't that big of a deal - Larry French (Boyle County) and Tom Larkey (Harlan County) don't teach. But you need people around the building to hold players accountable. And you need those people to be interested in the job and hard working to boot. Which is why the previous suggestion of some new staff members probably would be a good idea.

PP92 and AJG. It seems like you would be discussing the success of your respective teams rather than contemplating the status of Danville football. I have sons that play for both the ADS and in the youth league and they are doing just fine. I respect Boyle for what you have accomplished over the last decade plus and I tip my hat to Somerset for your victories during our last four meetings. I don't feel the need, nor do I pretend, to have the inside knowledge to comment on your respective programs. I would just rather you say nice season Danville, or best of luck in the future.

My apologies, but some of my comments were cut off from my previous posting. Your focus needs to be one your own team's successes and let Danville worry about any perceived problems you feel that we have. Coach Harp didn't forget how to coach football overnight and I would be careful about kicking a man while he is down. I am sure Coach Harp doesn't like losing games that he feels that he should not have and he will figure out how to get this corrected. Coach Harp has had opportunities to leave in the past, but has stayed out of loyalty and pride in what he has helped build at DHS. Believe it or not, there is more to life than winning football championships. Don't get me wrong I hope that one, or all of my sons, get to have that experience however I am more concerned about them learning life's lessons that are absorbed through playing the game. These experiences will transcend them from their youth through adulthood and beyond. For that I am grateful that they have the opportunity to learn these from Coach Harp.

First off, this is a discussion board to discuss high school athletics so I will continue to discuss any teams that that I want to within the rules of this board. Secondly, the person who started the discussion on Coach Harp was ADopted ADmiral, who is a Danville supporter, not PurplePride92 or myself.

When a program with 10 State Titles who has a Hall of Fame Coach fails to win a State Title for 9 seasons, goes out in the 2nd round of the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 years, and is continually dominated by both its cross-town rival and a team in Somerset that it has owned over the years then questions are going to be raised as to what has changed to cause these things to happen. If you don't like those questions being asked then feel free to abstain from participating in this thread.

Good luck to you and your sons.

I never meant for it to sound like anything negative towards Coach Harp.I just feel there needs to be some changes with his assistant coaches.I'm not bashing the other coaches because I like all of those guys.I think there needs to be some new blood and fire on the sideline and at practice to help Coach Harp get back Danville Football being Danville Football...

I hope Coach Harp never retires but when he does it needs to be his decision!:thumb:

Also Danville's last state championship was 2003.They were runner up 04 and 06.

I went to one game(Boyle/Danville-a game Admiral supporters accused the Ads of quitting in the 3rd quarter) as I was at all of Boyle's games that I could attend. One does not have to attend Danville football games to feel or see the undercurrent of negativity surrounding the program at this time. I have very close ties to people directly involved with the program. I also have ties to multiple parents of players on the team as well. Am I throwing out my opinion? Obviously. But it is an opinion based off of direct conversations with people who were once proud Admirals and now are simply disgruntled Admirals. Like I said, it's time everybody stop beating around the bush and address the problems that seem to be bubbling under the surface. Or ignore it and it will get worse.

I am not the type to stay quiet about anything. I saw a post that grabbed my attention and I spoke on it. And I will continue to. If you ever get inside info on anything Boyle County related by all means share it and we'll compare notes. You may know something that I am not aware of. I have always wished Danville well and there are quite a few kids that are Admirals that I root for in life as well as athletically. Are you trying to say that everyone who wears Admiral blue is currently happy and content with the football program?

Nice season and good luck in the future.

Things got really ugly at Boyle when Chuck Smith left and Pardue took over and Boyle started losing. I hope Danville can fix it before it gets worse.
