November 10, 201114 yr Some have compared him to Jones, but at this stage I don't see it. Jones is quite a bit more skilled and was much more advanced at the same stage. Poythress, however, is more mature and won't need to be broken in like Cal had to do with Jones at times last year. Alex will likely be a solid 10 points and 6 rebound guy as a freshman IMO... I've said a couple of times that I expect Cal to plug him into that Terrence Jones role but I don't think his game is identical to Jones'. I just meant with the way next years roster is shaping up (assuming Jones, Davis, Gilchrist leave) I could see Poythress getting slotted into that 4 spot that Jones has been playing. I think Cal will rely on Poythress to do a lot of the same things Jones is doing from that spot, even though their games may be slightly different.

November 10, 201114 yr GT, any predictions in Bazz? Since it is going to the spring it is really hard to tell this early. Smart money at this point says UCLA because of location and strong Adidas ties. Wouldn't count Cal out in any way, shape or form though...

November 11, 201114 yr Shabazz I heard congratulated Polythress and also said there has been no other coach as impressive as Coach Cal. IMO if UK makes it to another Final Four or wins it all he could end up in Lexington. He knows Cal can get him to the league. Just a thought.
