Best Summer Camp memory

I worked at a camp for many years on staff while in college and Grad school. I have so many great memories they all seem to blur together. What things were the most fun for you as a kid at summer camp and what did you like the least?

I must have missed out, I never went to any kind of summer camp. I was always busy with sports and never got into the recreational camps...Such as 4-H or Boy Scouts.

I never went to summer camp either. One of my sons went to Camp Webb and loved it. He now has his orange hunter card and his blue safe boater card. Now if we could just get our GREEN cards! LOL

 

My other son wet to Space Camp in Alabama. He had a ball.

Camp Earl Wallace sure brings back some memories from my early boyhood.....................Has any other posters ever went to this camp????????????????

I went to Camp Crooked Creek in Bullitt Co., the 4-H camp down by the Cumberland, and Camp Comer in Fort Payne Ala. I liked Crooked Creek the best but all were fun.

I went to camp webb several years ago. Thats where i got my hunter safety card also I believe it says 1990 on it. wow im getting old! Sadly enough my most clear memory about camp was a kid getting beat to a bloody mess by another kid in the lunch line, worst beating i had ever seen from young people and all because the kid was fat.

Yeah I guess that would fall into the "not so pleasant camp experiance" file:cry: or what I liked the least category.

 

Ok who remembers anything non hazing related or life traumatizing?:lol:

I went to Camp Earl Wallaceremember the doe (peg) that would eat out of your hand? and "Preacher" playing the piano and singing during meals???...Great memories, Great camp..we stayed in "Bob White" cabin every year...I Have an "Outdoors man Patch" somewhere

I taught on the waterfront at "Camp Shawnee" (Boy Scout Camp) in Floyd Co. one summer as well. Great Times......

Yeah I worked at a boy scout camp too, I went from Crafts and helping out on the waterfront to Camp Commissioner to Business Manager! Great times hate that I have to put on a suit and tie so much now after all those summers in tees and shorts!

I remember when we all canoed over to the girls camp across the lake and snuck up behind the shower house. That was the first time I.....

When I was in HS I went for a weekend stay at Camp Nathaniel in Knott County. The first night after supper everyone played capture the flag.

 

The whole camp had to wait while the kids from Harlan County went back to the bunks and changed clothers.

They all came back with camo on and some with full face paint. It was great.

Went to Camp Crooked Creek each summer until I got my Eagle. I also went to Camp Tall Trees 2 summers.

 

I have one that is my favorite.

 

One of the guys I was with at Crooked Creek decided to make a cobbler in a Dutch Oven. When he opened the cover after a while, the pastry top was burnt black and obviously well done. Upon further inspection, the peaches in the middle of the cobbler were still ice cold. To this day, I have no idea how he managed to do it.

Ram it was a long time ago but I remember this guy that dressed like Danl Boone and shot an old muzzle loading rifle!

The camp was near Wayne WVA on the banks of Twelve Pole Creek.
